La Paulée de Los Angeles Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - Santa Monica CA): Walkaround tasting. Ripe and lush, this showcasing a broad array of red and black fruits with savory spice and an intense power. Very good in every dimension, just slightly backward for now, brilliant potential from 2029 forward, 95-96 point potential.

Assessing 2021 Burgundy-La Paulée de Los Angeles Grand Tasting (Fairmont Miramar, Santa Monica): Medium ruby. Oak on the nose. Medium weight, beautiful sappiness. Dark red and black fruit, excellent acidity, rich chocolate tannin, endless reserves of structure, and an appropriately dry finish. Quintessentially elegant, gorgeously harmonious Grand Cru. Fantastic and it should have a 30+ year life span from here. Another moving wine.

On the nose medium+ intense sour cherry, ripe strawberry, a little barnyard funk, some stemmy tea, vanilla underneath.
On the palate strawberry, raspberry, warm cedar, chalky finish.
Medium alcohol (14%), medium+ body, medium acidity. Pronounced, powerful tannins. The stemminess likely comes from 60% whole cluster fermentation, but it gives a rustic feel overall. I think the whole cluster fermentation also reduces the total acidity in the wine, leading to this feeling.
The wine has concentration and structure so it should age well. Would love to try again in 15 years.

La Paulee NYC 2022 walkaround tasting Nose is heady and quite reticent. This is a bit old style in terms of extraction, and certainly very ripe, but less extracted than the 2018. The mouth is very concentrated, with firm tannins although they are finer than the 2018. This is high on steroids, half way between conan the barbarian and hulk. Not sensual at all, but impressive for its raw and brute power. Will need an extended snooze in a dark cellar. Not sure if this is worth the astronomic price.
