Wonderfully rich with plenty of apple, nut butter, and butterscotch with intense concentration. Great now, nicely complex and layered, maybe further upside, but maybe this is it. Really great now.

The third of 3 bottles purchased at auction and all 3 were stellar. This was the second wine of the evening for a milestone birthday dinner at the Inn at Little Washington. Beautiful citrus and stone fruits, excellent acidity and paired wonderfully with several seafood courses.
Wines: Krug Grande Cuvée NV; 2010 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru; 2010 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru; 2009 d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs; 1989 Chateau Montrose; and 1988 Chateau d'Yquem (750 ml).

Dezente Nase, leicht buttrig, Blütennoten, reifer Apfel, still, tiefgründig, Creme Brulé, sehr komplex. Cremig im Gaumen, grosse Harmonie, vollmundig, rund, mit gut verpacktem Säurenerv, top verpacktes Holz, aromatisch mit viel Länge, Schmelz und nussige Rückaromen. Grosses Chardonnay Kino.

Judgement of Eagan (Jason P's, St. Paul, MN): Pale gold color. PNP, drank a glass plus over an hour plus. This was a stellar example of this wine. The nose shows tons of freshness, Anjou pear, kumquate, tarragon, anise and bright mineral notes. The palate is crystalline with its minerality and focus; Meyer lemon, lemon, panna cotta testure, lemon zest, elegant and lifted, long and tangy, this just resonates. Gorgeous, and for me, the clear winner over a very good '13 Marcasssin. Group vote was 5-4 for the Bonneau. 95+pts.

Cracking the whip; 10/16/2023-10/23/2023 (Eagan, MN): N: Peeled mandarin oranges, yellow fruit, dried hay and a nice gentle funk. There is this citrus kick like squeezing a small kumquat, where it gives off a spritz of sharp acidity that brings freshness.
P: Fuller and weightier than the nose while keeping some of the same notes. There’s a bit of pleasant must that is hard to describe, like the inside of an old wine cellar where it smells like mold and damp stone. The yellow fruit has a nice creaminess that flows into the finish without being overdone.
Wish I had more time with this because this got better with time in the glass, and even more so as it came to room temp. I preferred this to be served on the cooler side as it provided a nice swiftness on the palate. This was just as good at room temp but more for its heavier flavors.

Judgement of Eagan Wine Tasting (Jason's House): This was pitted against a 2013 Marcassin, and held its own! The group was divided, with the 2013 Marcassin barely edging out this wine! I was in the Marcassin camp, because quite frankly, for my palate, they make the best Chardonnay! Having said that, this wine gave it a run for its money, even for my palate!
The nuts and bolts: I loved the nose on this wine....white flowers, spice and some baked apple pie, as well as some gunpowder and sea shell notes in the background. On the palate, their was a slight creaminess (which I liked) and some pear tart apple and slate. It was fun tasting the wine unfurl in the glass as it started out a little tighter (but not too tight) and loosened up with some time and air. A very enjoyable wine that I could kick back and sip all night! Easy 95 for my palate, and always a pleasure to taste a nice Burg!

Judgement of Eagan (Jason's house): Matchstick, gun flint, bright orange citrus and a supple creaminess. This was bested by a 2013 Marcassin, in my opinion, but that is very much a personal taste decision.

Pronounced nose intensity with ripe red apple, toast, vanilla, white flora. High acidity. Nose is aromatic. A pity that the finish is rather short; Medium+ finish. Drinking beautifully. Probably will not improve further.

A strange showing. Almost a beeswax note to the nose. It had the density and line of Corton and was deep. Flavours were a bit advanced and the usual detail planed off a bit. Slightly oxidised? I have had far better bottles of this 2010.

As Craig indicates, very slow out of the blocks. However, it consistently improved over 3-4 hours and ultimately was outstanding. Continuing evidence that Martray and air are good friends.

Enjoyed sax jazz master Charles Lloyd & his quartet getting lost in the music tonight. Thanks to longtime wine buddy Brad E for the ticket & Diane finding something even better to do tonight, grand kids! We did our best to bring some Burgs to compliment the music but even great wines can take a back seat to gifted jazz artists living in the moment and breathing new life into songs they've played many times before and yet, differently every time. That's jazz! The Martray was a bit slow out of the gate but really evolved in my Riedel Montrachet glass. Medium gold as expected for a 13yr old white. While slightly sluggish at first it seemed to add energy while expelling more steely mineral with each sip. Eventually other herb and fruit layers entered the picture to form a very complete & compelling Corton Charlemagne. 94+

An odd cheesy note on opening had me concerned this bottle was spoiled. It wasn’t but it wasn’t a good example either. Medium yellow which deepened with air. Smells of old fruit and alcohol. Lacks freshness and energy. Slightly oxidized. Still, there’s some interesting bruised red apple flavors. Drank slightly better with time.

Popped'n poured with the tasting menu at Marcel's in DC. A decant of maybe 30 minutes would probably have been helpful, but it unfurled beautifully with the first half of the menu as it warmed. I don't play in the Montrachet sandbox (nor, most likely, in Bonneau's post-2014 based on recent pricing), but it's hard for me to imagine Chardonnay getting must better - a "Wow" bottle, with chiseled minerality, lovely floral notes, perfect acidity, and beautiful fruit. The second bottle of three purchased at auction and both were stunningly good. I need to find a goat or virgin, or whatever the appropriate sacrifice currently is, in hopes the pre-mox gods spare the third bottle (and my remaining bottles of the 2014).

I love where this is right now with superb fruit intensity and great mineral cut. The finish is so complex with notes of spearmint, spices and flinty minerals. No pre-mox yet for this bottle and I would drink it now before the inevitable. At Claud, NYC.

I was excited upon opening … perfect fill and the the color was right light golden straw. Not oxed whew ! However the wine is shut down. I get some notes of ripe tropical fruit like dragon fruit, some chalkiness, flint, and a hint of smoke. However on the palate it starts out and then just closes right up. Even after an hour it’s not giving me what I want. I’ll stick to montrachet from other producers this is a bust. Maybe revisit in a couple years and hope it’s not brown water :(.

Heitz MV vs Dominus: Tasted double blind from half bottle. At first, this showed so intense and broad and a bit too sweet and tropical but the longer it sit in the glass the more it morphed into an excellent Chardonnay full of salty minerality and with a good cut. Ever so slightly changing. Sublime and easily 95/96pts.
TN: At first very extreme, intense nose full of deep yellow flowers, yellow fruit, a touch of smoke. On the palate this is some old tropical fruit, some fine ripe pineapple scents, with time more fresh fruit, orchard fruits, some yellow and white flower scents and a more pronounced minerality and that salt streak towards the finish. Good, round acidity which comes forward with time and keeps it balanced and round. Overall quite harmonious and complete with good length.
Decanting: Not decanted, needed 20+ minutes in the glass. This would have certainly benefited from an hour or two in the decanter but it was interesting to follow its evolution in the glass.
Half bottle. Pretty badly pre-moxed or at least oxed. I think a grand cru from the supposedly great 2010 vintage should last 12 years in half bottle, so I’d go with pre-moxed. Last I had from Martray was a 2008 CC in 750ml and it was not obviously pre-oxed but not very good either. Beginning to wonder about this producer.

Ok now this is more like it. Stunning with a loooong finish. I agree with another taster here who noted it improved the second day. Unfortunately for me all that was left the second day was a few drops in the empty bottle but what drops of golden nectar those were. Everything CC should be.

Not quite as good as the 2000 vintage it was tasted with. Apples, floral and hints of earthiness in the nose, with a flavor to match. A well balanced wine with nice acidity and a long finish.

My initial experience with the ‘10 Corton Charlie was exactly as DRDAN8 describes, but I corked it and left in the fridge and the next evening it was a very different wine. A grey-ish pale yellow color the first evening turned to bright gold, and a limpid nose and palate the first evening came alive with energy, verve, minerality, fruit and orchid flowers the following evening. Interesting.

Pausing for the Cause Fundraiser and Dinner (Oriole - Chicago IL): Spiced start with apple and baked apple. Subtle floral and earth hints. Less powerful than some other vintages of this wine, but this is long on elegance and finesse. Similar to other recent bottles. Best to enjoy by 2030.

Stored in a 54 degree active cabinet for about 7 years after purchase from a reputable merchant. Cork was tight as a drum; had to utilize ah-so to extract.
Limpid golden yellow to the stem. Faint nose of honeysuckle, baked apple, and ginger shavings. The wine was not oxidized. The palate left much to be desired in that the wine lacked complexity, verve, and definition. Some bruised apple/lemon oil tastes with a clipped finish. The wine did not develop further nuance after being open several hours. Considering the price point/pedigree, the wine was not that enjoyable. Maybe the wine needs further time although that is doubtful.
Recently had the pleasure of consuming a 2010 V Girardin C-C and a 2013 Aubert UV-SL.....both wines left the Martray in the dust by miles.
Out of a rare sound bottle, the 2010 BdM Corton Charlemagne is a real beauty. Thick and luscious with adequate acidity, there is great depth and creamy yellow fruit. No reason to wait on this.

The Roots Fund Grand Cru Charity Dinner (Home): 10/08/07. This was thoroughly enjoyable and the most generously overt of the trio. Loads of toasty, spicy orchard fruit that is plush and powerful. Nicely balanced. Slight upside as this gains one more notch of complexity, but hard to resist now.

The Roots Fund Charity Grand Cru Dinner (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): In vertical. Floral and spice aromatic start with apple, baked apple throughout. Very charming and perfectly balanced. Not quite as powerful as the 2007 or 2008, but greater harmony. Good depth, drinking beautifully now.

Lukter steinbra. Steinete og kruttaktig nese. Virker helt ung. Med luft modner frukten og går mot det tropiske. Fyldig i munn med mye vekt. Samtidig har den en vital ryggrad av syre som bærer det hele. Lang finish. En helt rå vin som har et langt liv igjen.

Appearance: medium gold. Nose: medium intensity; aromas of match stick, flint, white peach, Granny Smith, subtle honey, blossom, nutty, wash rind cheese. It’s developing. Palate: dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, pronounced flavour intensity, long finish. Overall, it’s an outstanding wine. Can drink now, has potential for further ageing. Wow, what a great wine! Pure, intense, pronounced match stick notes wrapped with pure white peach and white blossom/lotus. Finish long and persistent!

This is one of my favorite white burgundy. The 2010 was less evolved than I anticipated. The colour is still young as is the nose, mostly. It is beginning to suggest the majestic nose of which is capable; warm alpine air, a masculine smell yet inviting. The flavours are immediately engaging; ripe Asian pears and brioche. I think I am going to drink my last three bottles as occasion present.

Light medium gold color. PNP, from 375ml, split bottle over 2 hours. Actually a little bracing on popping, this slowly unfurled over the next 30 minutes. By 15 minutes, this was in fine shape, but it again was at its best as it came to room temp. The nose is filled with lemon peel, lemon curd, flinty minerality, sea air, and dried herbs. In the second hour as it warmed notes of buttered popcorn and tangerine emerged on the nose. The palate is taught and energetic, starting out more medium plus bodied and taking weight over time. There's is a nice mix of lemon, lemon curd, tangerine and orange rind on a very tart and crisp palate that delivers distinct flint minerality and saline elements. Over time and coming to room temp, the palate evolves further to show a warm buttery popcorn and Captian Crunch cereal note that is savory and rich. This is drinking great with some air and continues to evolve. 94(+)pts.

Decanted prior to dinner at the Inn at Little Washington; part of a mini-vertical of the '09, '10, and '14 Bonneau Martray Corton-Charlemagne. All were good; the oiliness of the '09 was perhaps the better pairing with an amazing lobster dish; the '14 was a more classic Corton with bracing minerality and is just a child, with (if the Premox Wine Gods are willing) a long life of development ahead. But the '10 was the star of trio and wine of the night - citrus and minerality, with great depth and an amazing nose with candied elements reminiscent of a great Sauturnes. So good that I ALMOST didn't mind that somebody pushed the bidding up by another $100 for the 3 bottle lot at the K&L wine auction ...

Burnished gold in color. Thick lemon and honey nose. Lush, deep, expressive fruit on the palate. Honey, peaches, citrus, pepper, Granny Smith apples. A wonderful, subtle minerality. Bracing acidity and beautifully balanced. The finish goes on forever, spice, lemon/lime, honey. Absolutely gorgeous and with a long life ahead of it (at least 10 years).

On its way to prime time, but still a bit shy. A very nice, carefully crafted 375 of the elegant 2010 vintage for this wine. Sadly, my last as its core of greater burnt sugar viscosity amidst the lemon, honey, sweet flowers and sweetish woody notes is just beginning to emerge. The nose was closed in part and the lemon dominated over the caramel/honey. Pretty color, no premox. Wait.

Drank at Merriman's in Maui while enjoying a lovely sunset dinner. This is my first of 3 btls and is in its early prime drinking window. PnP with 30 minute slow ox in glass & btl while sipping some Cava with apps. Pale light translucent gold color. Light tide pool and floral aromas. It took a good 30 minutes for the palate to unwind and open up. Best sips were an hour plus in. Stunning purity and refinement engulf a lovely mix of flinty minerality, citrus, stone fruit and trace notes. Major concentration & power and yet, such finesse that only white Burgundy can deliver. Paired great with fresh snapper. I'm glad I sat on these since release as I believe there is much upside to enjoy all the more in the next 3 - 5 years plus.

Splendid Corton Charlemagne. Young still but it’s starting to uncoil although it’s still tensile and pulsing with energy. Excellent balance, citric and mineral with just the right amount of yellow fruit. Poised for even more positive development in the years ahead. Bonneau de Martray’s version of Corton Charlemagne can age and improve in the right vintages for many years.

It has been 3 years since I last opened a bottle of this... and I believe it has improved materially since then. Still quite crisp, vibrant and very full of life, many years left to go... notes of vanilla and a slight bit of tropical fruit on the nose, very elegant and very good.

My last bottles in this vintage, I started with 2009 which I really liked, having been buying these wines since 2009 and stopped in 2016, still 2013, 2014 and 2015 to enjoy. Corton has always been elegant and charming with great class, not big like Meursault, but fresh acid, low in oak feeling and for me never been premoxed. This wine was all that.

Medium gold.color. Drank 2 glasses over dinner at the New Scenic Cafe. This needed 15 to 20 minutes to be coaxed out of its slumber and it was actually better closer to room temperature. Quite crystalline and pure on both the nose and palate, breezy sea air and minerals steering the ship, with lovely lemon and lemon curd. Medium bodied and so well heeled with little oak showing this is so nice and fresh.

Trenger luft. Åpner seg pent opp - faktisk ganske stor duft etterhvert. Mye stein, sitrus , spice og blomster. Bra kombinasjon av power og eleganse. Fast og presis med god dybde. Lang. Meget flott vin - tar gjerne mer kjellertid. Sjelden Bonneau svikter meg (kanskje aldri skjedd...?) 94p

Round, but milquetoast. Given the vintage and vineyard I expected more delineation and energy. When it was cold (~55 degrees) it revealed a bit of citrus and mineral driven personality, but the modest tension dissipated and this turned soft pretty quickly, rather than opening up

During a Paulee dinner, so only brief impressions. Another strong showing of this wine. Excellent freshness and balance, crisp, creamy. Top Chard in the glass. Another round at Jade Court (Chicago, IL): A mild hint of reduction on the nose here, with a lovely smokiness as well. This is a large-scaled chardonnay, with tons of breadth and power on the palate. Concentrated and dense, there's plenty of that great 2010 acidity here, coupled with minerality and some slight smoky notes. There's trace amounts of oak as well, manifesting in a little buttered popcorn and vanilla, but it's definitely done well.
Beautiful bouquet: lime zest, kumquat, fabric sheets, crushed shells, baked pears, ripe honeydew, and just a hint of butterscotch toffee. Rich in the mouth but sadly lacking cut, precision. A soft, voluptuous, gentle round minerality comes through, but after the exciting nose, the absence of flavor delineation is a bit disappointing. Could be at an awkward in between point in its life.

Fourteenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): In 99/94/07/10 vertical. Lots of apple, quince paste and toasted almond. Powerful finish, very good concentration start-to-finish. This was from 375 ml, which might have slightly affected the wine, making it less fresh vs a 750. Tonight's two bottles showed identical character, with one just slightly fresher vs the other.

While the color is still a rather light yellow it shows some early evolution. Very nice and clean nose, well balanced. On the palate nice acidity and minerality balancing the richness, but also for my taste just a touch too much oak giving the wine already a fair bit of those sweet nutty notes. Long finish. 93-94

Peach, apricot, white florals, minerals, oak, petroleum, quite a bit of limestone. Smooth and clean palate, almost buttery. Quite sweet and spicy. Popped and poured. POWERFUL. Oak. A riper vintage with tropical fruit. I understand why some like this, but it's lacking the freshness, acidity, and balance I prefer. 750ml, purchased and consumed in Italy. Day 2: less powerful, more in balance, but still plenty of oak.

Splendid. Very young though, it could become spectacular if it survives the Pox. Pale yellow. Lovely fragrance with a top note of peach unusual for Corton Charlemagne. Delicate and charming, far from austere. Crisp and concise. A budding flower waiting to bloom.

Bright but quite golden colour, which raised a brief fear of premox for me. However, this bottle did not show even a hint of premox ... After a touch of reduction, an attractive bouquet of white flowers, lemons, blanched almonds and minerals. Also a touch of cinnamon and a mealy, slightly lactic note. A clean and pure entry. A detailed flavour profile showing pears, yellow apples and citrus, around a spine of chalky minerals. Also, a creamy, almond paste element. Good acidity and well balanced. Rich and powerful. Drinking well at year eight.

Excellent. Wide range of flavors -- poached pear, lime, cream, cinnamon, and cocoa. Full-bodied and multi-layered. Exceptionally well structured, with energetic acidity and even some tannic grip. (Half-blind tasting 2010 White Burg GC) Full, rich, almost ready nose. Ripe green pear, smoke, gun-powder, oystershell and perfectly balanced oak. Rich and luxurious. Very fresh, majestic and austere. Deep complexity with hints of oyster-shells. Austere and at the same time full and majestic palate. Cool. Very, very intense. Gently oaky with gun-powder, ripe pear and toast. Very long and splendid grip. Clearly GC-material from a top vintage! This was so rich that we guessed it was BBM from Sauzet. With no Premox danger associated with the producer, and considering we have encountered a few old and mature and very fresh Bonneau de Martray C-Ch, this should definitely be cellared further. Start drinking in 2020.

Odd showing for this 375, and hoping it is just hibernation. Nicely balanced and showing no premox, but offering very little in terms of disntinct CC fruit or that creamy BdeM profile. Lemon, a hint of burnt vanilla, little caramel, and a good acid profile made for pleasant but unexceptional drinking.

Dinner at Andrew's place: I've had this Bonneau du Martray many times in recent years but did not, at all, pick it here. A classy Corton-Charlemagne. Some struck matchstick reduction, then an attractive bouquet of citrus, pears, blanched almonds and whipped cream. A little spicy oak still present. On palate, a lovely, creamy, honeyed-seeming texture. Clearly Grand Cru White Burgundy fruit weight and structure. There is some oak yet to integrate. There were no signs of premox, hopefully the house has fixed those issues ... This bottle was looking a little more unevolved than previous recent bottles I've had. Given that it is a 2010, it would be surprising if it were now shutting down, but you never know ... In any case I'd hold for 3+ years.

Medium, lemon appearance. Pronounced nose of lemon, peach, pineapple, stone. Prominent MLF aromas of cream and toasty oak. Full bodied but more restrained than expected on the palate. Very nice medium+ acidity to keep it vibrant through a mineral driven mid-palate into a long finish. From other notes, was expecting this to be a brasher wine but not finding that at all. Love 2010 white burgs and this is a good one.

France Soir beauty (South Yarra): This was good but it's a very big wine and maybe not the refinement I was hoping for given the vintage? There's no doubt this wine has got sex appeal but it's very showy and full on. Some will love this aspect but for me it was bordering on being too much. Everything is turned up to eleven, sulphides, oak which tends to get in the way a little bit of what's going on underneath. I still loved it but a glass or two is enough before the wine starts to overwhelm a bit. Will be interesting to see how this ages and whether the expression comes through more as it evolves. Having the two Coche C.C's next to this wine put things into perspective a bit as they're on another level.
Slightly muted and inexpressive on the nose. Quite elegant, balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Good core and density to the wine, with enough acidity to support good life ahead and keep everything in check.

Interesting nose with almond paste, vanilla; corton charlemagne classic; wine with minerality, balance; perhaps not as interesting as others but great wine. Drank at Uchi. Likely best to wait another year.

Andrew and Howard's birthday dinner: A bouquet of citrus and chalk had me thinking (again) about Corton or Chablis. Grand Cru weight and power on the palate. Also pears and meadow flowers with some creamy, vanillin oak on the nose. A lovely wine, quite precise and focussed. The acids in beautiful balance. A classical Corton-Charlemagne, I preferred, for that reason, to the more tropical fruit Louis Latour. I was surprised at the vintage. The Bonneau du Martray was quite open and accessible for a 2010. I am beginning to wonder if 2010s like this will, if they survive premox, make really old bones? Perhaps hold for 3+ years for it to more fully open?

Touch of oak and crushed apples on the nose. Full bodied, complex and well integrated wine that matched the guinea hen ballotine perfectly. Medium plus acid and extract will allow this to age for some years. Overall, beautiful wine to come back to 5 years.
Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL): This had been open several hours by the time i tasted, served at room temperature. Lots of intense orchard fruit throughout with great density and concentration. Better in a few years from now, so while very tasty today, this has greater overall potential in 5+ years.

Bonneau du Martray Visit and Tasting (Pernand-Vergelesses): Tasting at the domaine. Intensely floral start with subtle orchard fruit aromas. Restrained fruit start-to-finish with intense power and concentration with a a slightly backward character for now. Perhaps the best potential of all vintages tasted today, from 2019 or 2020 forward.

Corton Masterclass with James Handford MW (Handford Wines, London): Light yellow, gold in colour, slight greenish tint. Just a fine touch of oak and it's not really evident, well integrated oak. Round but with good acidity and thus structure. Approachable even this young and was the favourite of the whites of the tasting. Touch of green apple, mineral and with good balance. 92-93 and this is one to keep for another 10years as it will be a 95 sort of wine.

My first time with a Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne and I was not disappointed. Still extremely youthful, but so pure, focused and precise. A very seamless bottle with good acidity, citrus, white flowers, nuts, and minerals. I could drink this all day. This will only continue to improve. For me, this was better than the 2010 Bourchard Corton Charlemagne.

A vulgar display of power.

Rated conservatively for now. I drank it too cold so I'm sure I missed some of its attributes. Nevertheless, it's clear this wine is pure and focused with bright acidity and minerality.

What can I say about this that hasn't been said already? Seamless, elegant, coming along nicely in terms of secondary characteristics starting to show through. I last tasted this about a year ago and it's changed quite a bit in that time; will be fascinating to watch over the years.

A very pleasant surprise - so good, so young. Sometimes Bonneau de Martray can be forbiddingly austere when young, especially from a vintage like 2010. But this half bottle was quite fine when first opened even though too cold, then blossomed as it warmed up. Some sea shell minerality but the green apple fruit buffered by softer green grape elements gradually came to the fore. The last sip was the best. Great balance and a great future. Now I read my last note just 6 months ago, and it seems like a completely different wine. Could the 375 ml format make that much difference?

At wine tasting. Incredible balance, structure, fruit which created one of the best CC I have had. Others felt similarly. Beautiful acidity and minerality which provided balance along with viscosity and silkiness. Worth the price. Antonio Galloni notes from Wine Advocate has notes which are excellent and truly reflect accurately the nature of this wine

I hope I can try do this wine some justice the nose has smoky flint, almost briny with a array of citrus notes the palate has such intensity with acidity and minerality but which are nicely balanced with the fruit all with a mouth watering lingering finish I can see this evolving into something even better but it's so delicious now

My god, this was gorgeous. Light color, seamlesss, creamy texture, lactic tones, ripe citrus and faint hazelnuts. The underlying grip is there, so there is no doubt about its potential, but the balance is so great that it is hard to resist right now. This makes me long for the days of buying (and enjoying) Grand Cru Cote de Beaune wines. Fantastic bottle.

The rating is based on potential since this wine is extremely tight and backwards. Very faint aroma. Strong acidity is buffered by the hidden fruit but it is very austere right now. Tastes more like a Chablis, but that's no criticism. Based on a recent tasting of the 1990 version, I think this could be splendid if it doesn't oxidize.

Brought this bottle of wine to dinner with the wine maker of Verite Winery, Pierre Seillan and his wife Monique. This was a very impressive Chardonnay. Excellent example of Corton-Charlemagne terroir. Nice balance of acid and minerality. This is why I love white burgundies!

Lemon coloured. Aromas of cream, ripe stone fruit, floral top notes, mineral, slight toast and vanilla, vegetal notes that are not green and a dusty quality. In the mouth the wine has flavours of apricot, cheese and spice on the medium finish that introduces a clove bitterness. there is also plenty of tannin here offering an almost talc like grip on the palate. The nose leads me to believe that this will, in time, become a truly wonderful wine but at the moment it's a bit too young.

stark contrast to the 2010 Henri Boillot CC tasted side by side. This wine was roaring and reading to go from the beginning. Beautiful nose of flint, citrus accompanied by a soft silky lush palate of white stone fruit. The palate is expansive and round.. almost a bit fat and coats your mouth with the rich fruit. Over time the roundness of the wine mellowed and the acidity picked up which helped it shed some of its baby fat. Surprisingly balanced for such a young powerful wine. It could be incredible if it survives the dreaded premox. My friend bought almost two cases of this so will be happy to track it over time :)

Comparing this 2010 vintage to the 2009 vintage is "a different story," says Jean-Charles. Smooth and beautiful fruit but some sharp acidity in the mid-palate. Great and classic linearity, excellent mouthfeel and excellent balance. Picked early October.

Bonneau du Martray and Comte Georges de Vogüé (Stockholm): Nose: ripe yellow apples, other yellow fruit, some citrus, floral hints, some oak barrel notes, rather powerful and elegant nose, and with a “cool” impression. Palate: medium+ bodied, slightly viscous impression, ripe citrus fruit, strong mineral notes, high acidity. Citrus-fresh aftertaste with grapefruit and strong mineral notes. Young! Pure and elegant aromas, but the oak notes are rather obvious and not fully integrated at present. It improved by giving it time in the glass, and then developed more perfume and aromatic oil notes, as well as showing more true grand cru complexity. It should have good potential, but I think it needs time (2018-2020?) to really peak, although another 2-3 years could make it more accessible. 92+ pts.

Comte George de Vogüé - 2010, Stockholm (Grappe): Light yellow color. Nose is filled with “Tutti Frutti!”, exotic fruits, flint stone, light smoke, a hint of burnt rubber, some barrels, young fruit and a nice ripe sweetness. On the palate there is an incredible freshness and amazing clean, pure fruit. Lemon, lime, citrus acid, some secondary grapefruit and a hint of vanilla. Great acidity, some oil and baby fat, dry and mineral filled finish that just goes on and on and on forever as it seems. This is by far the best Bonneau I’ve had ( this far), it’s simply a stunning, perfect grand wine!

Again a little closed but brimming with potential! This was my favorite of all the vintages tried. Showed hints of the almond paste and flinty minerality that was present in the earlier vintages but also had a unique citrus quality (lemon rind). Great balance of full texture and big acid. This seems to promise all that the '01 and '05 had and really just beginning to show. Excellent promise!

Tasted from barrel where it was still on its lees. This has bright acidity and beautiful freshness. The fruit is rich, persistent but shows restraint with excellent balance. Intense and precise, while the only knit would be that the mid-palate is not complete as ideal.

My initial experience with the ‘10 Corton Charlie was exactly as DRDAN8 describes, but I corked it and left in the fridge and the next evening it was a very different wine. A grey-ish pale yellow color the first evening turned to bright gold, and a limpid nose and palate the first evening came alive with energy, verve, minerality, fruit and orchid flowers the following evening. ah-so to extract.

A soft, voluptuous, gentle round minerality comes through, but after the exciting nose, the absence of flavor delineation is a bit disappointing. Could be at an awkward in between point in its life.

Deeply delicious and very classy. Golden hue and quite viscous - opened at a Boys Book Club event and very much appreciated. Rounded and honeyed - quite spectacular.

beautiful notes of white flowers, white peach and honeysuckle. Great depth and elegance with fine minerality. Opened up after an hour. Big flavor. Certainly will age nicely. Tasting great but needs a few years of bottle age to show its real stuff.

Cirtus and orange on the nose. Slight reduction at this stage. High acidity levels but fruit and minerals to balance. Very long taste. Very likable, this will be a great wine in due course.

92+ pts.
