Tannins were well integrated. Got better after an hour in decanter. Earthy tones and dark red cherry fruit with a touch of earth. Yummy. May not get better with time but damn good now.

Encore une fois excellent. Souple et suave, long et complexe. Toujours délicieux, un de mes vins fétiches... c'est ce vin qui m'a fait découvrir les super Toscans en 1995!

Notes of cedar, tobacco, pencil lead, sweet blackberry, dark cherry, savory herbs, espresso, and subtle forest floor. Pure and elegant. High minerality and salinity. Understated and lighter in weight compared to other vintages. Acidity was biting initially, but it improved over the course of 3 hours. After spending several weeks in Chianti, it seems like many of the top Gran Selezione wines are chasing this style.

My 4th Tignanello vintage, this 2009 also my oldest vintage. Very smooth, resolved tannins, with lots of fresh vibrant fruit. Red and dark fruit, dried red cherry, tobacco leaf, leather, licorice, and violets. Long lingering finish. Wonderful wine.

A murky, deep garnet colored with some light staining and medium viscosity legs (14% ABV). The nose is stupendous- pronounced intensity aromas of ripe blackberry, vanilla, baking spices, cedar, tobacco, cassis, crushed violet, white truffle, baked black cherry- it's over-the-top. The palate is dry with medium acidity and medium (+) tannins that are polished and very fine grained. Full bodied, this blend of 75% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc gives me flavors of cassis, blackberry and black cherry along with the secondary and tertiary notes I got on the nose. It all turns a touch tart on the mid-palate, something Old World wines tend to do. The silky mouthfeel is smooth and leads to a long finish that is layered and delicious. The cassis and vanilla lasting for an eternity. This wine has matured beautifully for me and I'm proudly serving it with Pappardelle and Meatballs- it's my birthday week after all so I can do what I want. 95 points from me for this $ 175 bottle makes it a 5 star treat.

Was very good. Has what I would describe as that typical ocean like salinity that I always associate with Tig. One critique is that the alcohol seemed slightly out of balance after sometime in the decanter but this was minor. An enjoyable tig.

Pas du tout à la hauteur du prix demandé. Simple, unidimensionnel, couleur légère, aromes classique supertoscan sans aucun wow. 20$ ok… mais a plus de 100$ c’est indécent

Light brick dust color toward the edge. Savory aromas of black currants and green tobacco. Suave entry. Offers up a bounty of flavors including cherry, black currants and cedar. Resolved tannins. Clean, plus and savory finish. Really in a great place. 94

Showing some age on the rim. Aromas of green tobacco and black currant. Dark cherry, coffee, black currants and cedar mingle on the palate. The flavors seemed to come in waves and added interest. Filigree tannins and a silky, clean finish. This was really impressive. I'd better have a grilled steak with the next one or be ready to share it with friends. My wife is already onto it. 93

Very nice Tig - right in the drinking zone. Black cherries, cassis, a hint of red fruits, cedar, espresso. Silky palate - it’s all very suave and seductive. The bottle went too quickly.

After an hour in the decanter, it was a pretty wine, delicate and subtle, with nuanced flavours of cherry, plumb, thyme and a mineral touch, the tannins still a little grippy round the edges. After 3 hours it really began to sing, gaining much more weight and depth. Full bodied, the plums are now stewed, the herbs roasted, the long finish has added a roasted coffe note to the minerality and the tannins turned to silk. In a great place. Enjoy.

Has been a long while since I’ve enjoyed a bottle of Tig and this was an excellent reminder of how special they can be. An absolutely gorgeous and concentrated nose of stewed rhubarb and red plums, red licorice, and canned mandarin oranges. A barrage of pipe tobacco, old leather, fennel, roasting herbs, and crushed stones reveals itself with some time in the glass. Full bodied, the palate is expansive and well integrated with a strong backbone of acidity. Very long finish and in a perfect spot to enjoy. Outstanding wine.

Hmmm, off or very very closed. Decanded and drank over 4 h without change. Allmost no fruit at all, was more or less empty. And no tones of maturity. Maybe needs a much longer decant at this stage or be cellared for another 5-10 years.

Lots of plums, some cherry, cedar wood and cherry aromas. Round and smooth: a crowd pleaser with loads of dark fruit in the velvety finish. Very pleasant now. Will drink up the last bottles in 2022/23.

Color: Deep Ruby Nose: Cherry, Anise , Cedar Taste: Plum, Cherry, Leather From a magnum - decanted for 1 hour before serving. The initial nose on uncork was cherry, anise and a deep rich earthy/woodsy aroma. Upon pouring in glass more aromas of leather and flowers.
THis wine is in a perfect place right now - full bodied with fruit upfront and secondary flavors of leather, earth anise and black tea. Drink now if fruit is important. Hold if you would like to see how the secondary flavors develop.

Decanted. Needed six hours to open up. Initially earthy, with not much fruit. Hours of air helped reveal red berry and spice flavors with a more silky mouthfeel. DRINK OR HOLD.

Popped and decanted for 2 hours. Wonderful deep ruby in the glass with just a slight touch of garnet. The nose comes off as rich with a really pronounced nose of cedar - like putting your nose into a brand new cigar box. The fruit takes stage a few minutes after. Big black berries in the form of blackberries, dark cherries, plums & blackcurrants. Well-rounded on the palate with a moderate acidity and plump fruit concentration. Oak is well-dosed and tannins are already mellow. Long finish. A restrained, but rich Tignanello that's ready for business right away, but won't benefit much from aging. Great to drink while waiting for the better vintages to come around.

2009 Antinori Tignanello was ripe, cedery and perfumed. The developing Super Tuscan was medium garnet in colour with loads of fine sediments. Freshly uncorked, aromatics of ripe blackcurrant, black cherry, smoked meat, leather and dark chocolate jumped out of the glass. Over five hours of tasting, it gradually gained complexities of earth, balsamic, liqourice and thyme herbs.
On the palate, it was dry and rather full-bodied, with medium-high levels of fresh acidity and polished tannin. There were agreeable intensity of ceder, tobacco and stony minerals on the mid-palate, accompanying flavours of crushed violet and bramble berries in a long nuanced finish. The alcohol level was at 14%.
According to the official winery website, the vines are cultivated in the heart of Chianti Classico, on hilly soil rich in limestone and schist. The blend was composed of 75% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine was matured in French and Hungarian oak barrels and lasted for approximately 16 to 18 months.

Pristine cork, small amount of sediment. Beautiful pure ripe red plum colour. Deep, dark and with no signs of age. Lovely nose of dried blueberry, cassis, black raspberry, graphite, subtle charred oak and just a hint of dried earth and a little bit of funk. Seems a little shy on the nose initially - even after an hour decant. First sip is Wow! Huge, sweet, ripe, juice dark fruit. Full bodied, dry, huge extract and glycerine, subsumed tannins and a fine seam of supporting acidity. This has it all going on! Still all back and blue fruits, more graphite, sandlewood, black tea, stone dust and incredibly abundant but slippery smooth tannins on the finish that goes on and on. Everything you love about Tuscany, but with 6-pack abs! This is a Wow wine all the way around! As time went on the slightest bit of cork taint emerged marring what would otherwise have been a 95 or 96 point wine. Sad, but at least it did not kill the early enjoyment of this bottle or prevent it from being finished.

Four square and wood notes dominate. Oak seems to be in tug of war with the fruit. A bit pruny and overripe on the palate. Trumped clearly in quality by the Ornellaia 06 tasted alongside.

this fit my tastes a lot more than the '94 I tasted about a month ago, this was a good representation of IGT (Sangiovese and cab), with nice full bodied red fruit plus some emerging spice elements, but also the elegance to enjoy and not be overwhelmed (which is what I felt about the '04)... funny to think about '09 and reference elegance (at least in Burgundy) but this is what I experienced... very nice for sure

This wine seemed to be in a closed state - the fruit was quite subdued and there was not a lot going on in the bouquet. My best guess is the wine should be aged for another 3-5 years.

In great shape now, but no rush to drink (that said, if you have a few - this was the first of a case - why not try it now). Black fruits on the nose, opens up into a long, very together, beautifully rich wine.
Not your Dad’s Tignanello. In all seriousness, as I have tasted many since their initial release , this was an odd, more modern duck. The dark robe cast a nice rustic overlay in the sweetish, rich, almost stewed melange of raspberry, tree bark, moist oak and burnt oak. After an hour's decant, it went well with food but never developed its Tuscan personality. A ripe vintage for sure, but no excuse to genericize. It reminded me of a 2009 normally fine Bordeaux that became too Parkerized and lost its soul. I recently had a wonderful Tignanello from the 1990s; I hope the 2009 does not augur poorly for this estate.

Subdued bouquet. Quite a rich and hedonistic wine. Needs a tiny bit of time out of the bottle to fully come together. Drinking very well, with caramelized fruit, lush, although with a slightly cooked, raisiny taste, that is in check, but a bit more freshness would help making the wine even better.

Cellared since purchase in 2012... good bottle unlike some of the others here, still primary, loads of dark fruit, coffee, cassis, blackberry notes with plenty of tannic grip on the structured but accessible finish. Creamy mouthfeel - polished & rich, drinkable now with decant or hold for up to 10 more years.
75% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc from vineyards in San Casciano Val di Pesa.

A crowd pleaser, polished, refined, and aiming to please. Nothing really wrong with it, but nothing to get excited about either. Lacks character, individuality, and the courage to say "this is who I am, take me or leave me". Give me a (traditional) Barolo or Brunello any time of the day.

Popped and poured. Dark purple core, pink rim. No obvious faults, but the palate is way too weak and acidic for a wine of this calibre even in the worst of vintages. Displays a lovely blackcurrant and blueberry bouquet, but sniffing all night doesn’t really cut it. Drinks like a $25 lesser appellation Cab, which it obviously shouldn’t. Just one of those bad bottles, I guess…
Enjoyed at a restaurant. PnP. Dark red, red rim, 5.5. Classic Tuscan nose, intense, spicy, sweetness from the casks, red fruit, in fact quite complex already. Elegant harmonious palate, fair tannin, acidity, some green stuff to balance the rich nose, long finish. Drink now or wait for more complexity to develop. This will go on for many years to come

Decanted for 2 hours. Pleasant Tignanello but not exactly what I was expecting, given the 2009 vintage which was proclaimed outstanding. Deep ruby color. Black currant, dried cherries, Mediterranean herbs and a touch of tobacco. Lighter body, nice acidity, wine is much more enjoyable with food. I can’t say from this point whether this will significantly improve. Maybe, but I will not buy (55 euros) 2009 again.

From 375ml. Very smooth, surprisingly light in body, with a mix of sweet and tart cherries, warm cinnamon, and old wood. The nose is less effusive than I would've hoped, but the palate is all elegance and class. Ends with a clean, medium-length finish.

Impenetrably deep dark black cherry colour almost right to the rim. Youthful nose bursts out of the glass with licorice, blueberry port, cassis, vanilla, cedar, and a touch of smoke. Super concentrated blueberry, cassis and candied black cherries coat your mouth. Balanced and smooth with some tingly acidity on the finish that keeps you coming back for more and more. Hard not to gulp this down! This is a knock your socks off wine, wow!

Great wine. If finish were a little longer and deeper this would be rated even higher. Unlike other Tuscan 2009's, this still has the stuffing to age a little longer.

A fan of the wine as my experience appreciates the consistency. 2009 is not the best vintage of Tignanello I have had but solid. Strong & pleasing nose on opening that excites the taste buds, nose is cherry, black licorice with forward flavors of tart cherry, minerality, Italian terroir.

Decanted two hours; moderate sediment. Deep ruby color. Red cherries, roses and vanilla on a somewhat subdued nose. Rich, full-bodied, slightly-jammy dark fruit on the palate with quite lively acids and subdued tannins. Very long finish. Probably will improve with more age. No change on day two. Nice wine, but at $80+, it's overpriced.

So it's taken me 25 years to figure out that I really like drinking it 5-6 years after the vintage.
Dark, almost black color, typical European musty nose, medium to soft mouthfeel & showing much more sangiovese sweetness than cab.
This wouldn't even be close to one of the top vintages of this wine but it is still a good wine but not great. Good news is it was my last bottle of 2009 so on to my 2011's.

Drank at Ginsberg+Chan Super Tuscan Wine Tasting. Lineup 2003 Sassicaia, 2003 Solaia, 2009 Tignanello, 2004 Le Macchiole Messorio, 1995 Castello di Ama Vigneto La Casuccia, 1994 Ornellaia, 2005 Masseto and 2005 Tua Rita Redigaffi.
Dark purple on the eye. Heavy alcohol on the nose along with light red fruits, a bit of liquorice and a touch of herbs. Pleasant. Medium to heavy tannins, strawberries on the palate. A touch young, but sipping nicely. Short finish. One of our favourite "restaurant wines" as the QPR is excellent! Far cry from the others, but happy relatively easy sipping.

Book Club - Grand Finale: Dark, thick, and lush wine. Very modern in style, could past for a Cali blend or a ripe Bordeaux year . Lots of flavors, cassis, dried fruit and licorice. Chris really enjoyed this one as she's the queen of super Tuscans and this wine is the king. I would like this with a nice big steak.
This was opened last night, and the remaining few ounces of the bottle sat in it without cork until this afternoon. So, lots of air. Plush, tangy black cherry fruit and cedar, with licorice and a spicy finish. The finish is loamy and reminds me of a wine that has plenty of age, the tobacco leaf notes that age brings. I don't have any experience with this wine or much from this producer but there is plenty of fruit here that should allow it to keep aging.
Lovely dark colour; nose of cherry, plum, dark fruits; ripe dark cherry, plum, dark fruits, nice spice, lovely long finish with integrated tannins - very easy and enjoyable drinking

Double decanted and slow ox'ed in bottle from morning to evening. Showing well with its floral perfume and ripe dark fruit. Finished long although perhaps a hint of bitterness at the end. The '09 remains one of my favorite vintages of Tignanello in recent memory.

Tasted blind. Very dark core with slow legs. Dark black cherry and currant nose with some floral notes. The palate delivers black fruit, spice, a big chunky wine with quite a lot of tannic structure. Clearly a quality wine I enjoyed a lot but would benefit from more time in bottle.

Zachys Holiday Auction - Winter 2015 (Smith & Wollensky (48th & 3rd Ave)): Poured from a double magnum, this was decanted for prob 3-4 hours before we tasted. Sadly it was coming on the heels of the Grange and the Colgin and this wine is neither of those (or in that league). It is however a very nice approachable Italian wine that goes well with food.

From half bottle. Decanted for about 90 min and drank over the next hour or so. Muted nose with faint earthy notes, on the palate unfortunately slightly corked but still drinkable, dark cherries, earth, a touch of chocolate, fine to medium tannins almost entirely integrated, medium finish. Not very complex or aromatic but a very solid wine in a mediocre Tuscany vintage that showed even better with the Spaghetti Bolognese at home than on its own. Certainly in its drinking window from half bottle. I admire the consistency of Tignanello, and also how balanced Super Tuscans like Tignanello or, at a higher level and price point, Sassicaia drink nowadays at such a young age. At the same time, have had many vintages of Tig and never rated above 92 points, a bit like the Sociando Mallet of Super Tuscans, very good but never great, and unlike Sociando Mallet this consistency comes at a price premium due to the name.
LBTG - with Alan hosting: I am usually pretty good at picking sangio...this has none of the obvious signs. mint, ripe plum, broad middle with plum and blackberry along with spices and herbs. long ripe finish. this wine is showing very young - but hard to see it as a sangiovese right now (75% sangio 20% cab 5% cab f) give this time.
Did a tasting with Tiganello, a Napa cab and a Chilean Carménère. All wines 93+ ratings and similar price points. This was everyone favorite and we really enjoyed how it evolved over the night. I would decant a few hours before serving again.

This is the perfect luxury pasta and red sauce wine in my textbook. Immediately the nose is showing great dusty cherry, sappy blackberry, spice notes, cedar and smoked bacon. The palate is deliniated with lush dark berry fruit, but containing enough sangiovese acidity to give it a nice lift retaining freshness and balancing out the ripe fruit. Long and lovely finish with tobacco and spices.

Decanted for 4hrs and drank over the following hour. On the nose, smokiness, ripe dark fruit and some cedar. Full bodied and remarkably well balanced on the palate. Tannins are very firm but the plushness of the fruit and the acidity from the sangiovese keep everything in balance. Has a bit of that tarry quality to it. Finish was clean and relatively long. Don't hesitate over opening a bottle of this; it's very accessible at this stage with a bit of air. This wine will probably hit its peak in a few years' time.

A trial balloon (small glass at Ortolana restaurant, Auckland) A very rich, raisiny nose, reminiscent of a good Pedro Ximenez. Palate pales in comparison. Not really accessible for a full hour, at which point it was OK with the lamb main dish. Not quite ready. Promising future, I hope (90-92), but I can't say that with conviction just yet.

an attractive wine , I liked it a lot. Not very expressive on the nose initially , needs a short aeration , 30-45 mins was enough , openned up nicely. Fine tannin profile and complex. Acid structure gives it a fresh kick and makes you want it more.. I do not think it shows it full potential yet. I believe in 2 years it will be in perfect condition. I do not like old and tired wines .. For any tignanello vintage , 5-10 yrs is the perfect window of top performance.. very pleased , if I come across again , I would definatately buy more...

Some wines with friends (Sue and Bobby's): Ruby/purple in the glass. The nose has saddle leather, cherries, rosemary and some anise. Very pretty. While very young, this is not as tannic as I expected and after a bit of splash decanting it drinks well. Of course, it will continue to develop in the cellar for years. Very nice dark cherry fruit on the palate with some licorice and some earthiness to it. Lovely texture with good balance. A treat.

Muted nose. Full bodied, dense appearance. Tart red berry flavors. Super dry, explosive finish that lasts 30 seconds.
Good bottle to drink slowly.
Reminds me of a good Turley Syrah. It lacks upfront ripeness and tignanello elegance. I don't think it will get better with time, because the tannins will soften, will lose the explosive dry finish, and may just get boring. There are better places and bottles to place my faith. Drinky Drinky...

Plum, fig, coffee, vanilla, and black cherries on the nose.
Shows decent acidity on entry, followed by fresh red and black fruit flavors, coating the mouth well with extract. Medium to medium plus + in body with fine and firm tannins. Finishes well with medium length and intensity.
A well polished, sexy wine, not unlike modern Bordeaux in style. Developed fairly quickly over three hours and doesn't come across as a wine for the long haul. Drink now through 2020.

Ruby red - purple color. Fruity character on the nose with juicy black fruit and a hint of chocolate or something. Medium body with the same fruity characteristics on the palate. Very well balanced and already drinkable in terms of texture and tannins, but I think it's still very tight on the nose and even less expressive on the palate. Nice bitter finish with medium aftertaste. Not impressed, maybe because of the high expectations, or because of its youth.

After about half an hour this wine really opened up and revealed a seamless balance and an awesome dry taste. It is drinking really well now, although a few years of cellaring may improve it slightly.

Smoked cherry figs. Music box cedar and some notes of pine straw. Some white pepper. Tight structure. Can't say I agree with other reviewers that it needs more aging to open up. I like its strict body and balance right now. Drink it.
Sydney Italian Wine Festival - Tuscan Red Masterclass: Deep set aromas of spice, black currant and cherry with graphite and some slate. Composed, controlled palate - with tannins that enhance and lift the fruit. Very good length, this is young but it is already delicious.

Rich, intoxicating smoky bouquet. Dark fruit, dried orange peel, tar, already quite complex. Tig is one of Tuscany's most consistent wines. Medium to heavy bodied, packs a nice punch. Needs another 5 years at least for the tannins to soften and the fruit to integrate further. (Didn't stop us polishing off 7 bottles at Il Lido in Singapore tho!)

Impressive nose, deep dark purple color, great palate, lots of tannins, well integrated and smooth, fresh dark fruits, creamy, chocolate, long long finish, unbelievably good, underrated by WS.

As usual this Tignanello is a wonderful Supertuscan blend (85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc) exhibiting a classy appearance with good clarity and a deep purple core. On the nose some fruity aromas of tangerine and raspberry as well as notes of fig. On the palate the fruit remains strong and clean with layers of cassis and strawberry. However the tannins are still a touch too firm and not fully integrated yet, making this medium to full bodied wine seem a bit over astringent at the moment. The finish is fairly long but again the strong tannins make it feel somewhat coarse. This wine needs another 2-3 years to settle down and gain its full balance. Give it time and it should provide a wonderful bouquet and a very exquisite drinking experience - as is usually the case with this great family run estate. Drinking window: 2015-2030

From ½ bottle, Pnp. Nose of ripe dark cherry, blackberry, raspberry, tobacco, grilled herbs. Perfectly balanced on the palate, even if it is young, full of dark ripe berries, tobacco, charred meat and potpouri. The chewy fruit is expertly balanced by fresh acidity, avoiding any flabbyness or jammy characteristics. Powerful, yet elegant on the long integrated finish with grainy tannins. Terrific effort. Great wine.

Sour cherries, stable and oak in a well balanced symphony. A little tight on the palate right now but after all, this wine is way too young at this point.

Dark purple color. Nice nose of blackberries, blueberries, black currant, some plums, some spices, tobacco and some earth. On the palate there are dark fruits again with some smoke, tobbacco and some leather. Medium-full bodied with medium- acidity and medium tannin. Pretty long. Very good but still young but approachable wine from a warmer vintage. While it's a beautiful wine, it could use a touch more acidity ( it's probably the vintage though) and complexity for such a big name.... maybe it will develop over time.

A very impressive (if incredibly youthful) showing for this wine. It's all Cabernet's blue and black fruit with Sangiovese sour cherry all on the back. Its all there, just needing some time. Wonderful stuff.

One bottle in the middle of a dry week. Rather amazing. Sangiovese off the cork pull and then blue and black fruit than builds towards the mid-palate and then the finish is big and cabernet. INcredible. Lovely, beautiful. In a dry week, whew. A breath of fresh air.

This is drinking well for being so young, decanted for hours ,even into the first hour of decanting it was well exposed. Big fruit driven wine with a bit of white pepper on the nose. The tannins are velvety. This went really well with a lamb marinara

Deep claret color, pepper-berry nose. Major flavors are pepper-berry combinations with tobasco flavors and other harder to classify peppers. Coffee and earthy flavors are also deeply buried. ? Citrus flavors as well. Stood up very well to spicy Indian food. Flavors did not diminish much after the bottle being open for some time.

Ce vin me laisse perplexe.

Good, deep color. The nose is quite ripe, showing dark fruits, cedar, oak, herbs, flowers, and a hint of minerals. On the palate, this is fairly full bodied, with good concentration and finesse. This is much more open to taste than the 2008. The finish is long and well balanced, and the tannins are dry but very ripe.

Taste: Medium/full bodies with medium+ acidity and good chewy tannins. The feel is slightly more plush with tones of oak, red cherries, spices, roasted herbs, and dark red fruits.
Overall: The oak is a bit noticeable right now. Under the oak though are very good tones, but this doesn't have the normal depth I'd expect from a Tignanello.

Tasted at local Enoteca. Had been opened the previous day, but this was reported to have been more open than the other wines. Bouquet: Concentrated red berry, coffee, smoke, perfume. Flavor: Red cherry, smoke, coffee, caramel. Long, sustained fruit on the finish that only slowly fades and then shows more coffee. Very suave, fine tannins. Instructive to compare this to the more elegant and lighter Montevertine Pergole Torte. At this point I prefer the Tignanello. . .a real beauty. My favorite of the evening.

Hard to evaluate now. Pop and pour 3 bottles. Dark fruit and an herbaceous streak with tobacco on the finish. Certainly less juicy and fleshy than recent (eg 2007) and i also wonder whether the oak treatment has changed as it is way more subtle than usual for young tignanellos. Give it time, though not one for those who like the big fleshy Tigs.

Tasted at the winery. First off this is an amazing property with a serious dedication to quality. Nice deep ruby in the glass. Aromas of cherries, tobacco, and lovely red fruit. In the mouth the wine has tremendous structure with silky yet slightly rustic tannins. Should age gracefully for many years.

I tasted this wine this month in an Enoteca in Lucca at the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro together with the Sassicaia 2008 (see my tasting note). Although a familiair style with th Sassicaia, the Tignanello was less polished and the tannins were more rough. Still a very good wine but not in the same league as the Sassicaia 2008.

Nose: Cherry, Anise , Cedar
Taste: Plum, Cherry, Leather
From a magnum - decanted for 1 hour before serving.

Aromas were tertiary dominated with tobacco, muddy earth, baked and stewed red and black berries. The palate followed with dried figs, prunes & and crumbly earth, tannins were subtle and acidity still backing it up. Drink up in the next 3-5.

This was opened last night, and the remaining few ounces of the bottle sat in it without cork until this afternoon. So, lots of air. I don't have any experience with this wine or much from this producer but there is plenty of fruit here that should allow it to keep aging.

Drink it.

Decanted two hours. Dark purple colored. Taste of dark fruit, medium tannins with a very smooth and long finish. Wait two years before revisiting.

This one is worth waiting for!

One bottle in the middle of a dry week. Rather amazing. Sangiovese off the cork pull and then blue and black fruit than builds towards the mid-palate and then the finish is big and cabernet. INcredible. Lovely, beautiful. In a dry week, whew. A breath of fresh air.

2013 Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri tour (Union Station, Chicago, IL): Nose: Well balanced and somewhat forward nose with tones of licorice, red cherries, spice tones, roasted herbs, and some oak tones.

Despite the fact that the Tignanello 2009 is still very young, it was a wonderful wine together with a lovely Spaghetti Bolognese.
However, for my personal sense, I think that this wine needs another -5+ years till it gets to the peak. Finish is long and just great! (already!)
