Dark garnet with earthy cherry fruit, a bit of camphor, and beautiful balance. More fruit than typical for this wine, but deep with good acid. Tannins have resolved and this is drinking beautifully right now. Still has at least 5 good years left.

Double magnum. In this format, the wine is still drinking well. However, the wine is clearly approaching the end. Here, still good texture and balance, lacks a little complexity

From 1.5 ml magnum. Nose showed lots of saddle leather and earthy aromas, some subtle piney red fruit.
Palate was very rewarding with earthy red and black cherry accented by leather and earthy notes that are perfectly balanced. The red fruit was still quite fresh and the tannin mostly integrated, but still slightly firm, giving the wine good weight and structure on the long cherry/earth flavored silky finish.
Excellent Barbaresco, this larger format bottle easily could have made its 20th birthday. I would drink the 750ml bottles soon.

decanted one hour, served at just above cellar temp. color faded auburn to a terra cotta rim; warm baked earth & berried nose, allspice; again warm & plush on palate, all middle register fruit, damson plum, dried currant, wet clay; finishes low impact, moderately dry.
this bottle is showing its warm year characteristics; not finished, by any means, but won't evolve positively from here.

Cwilliams' note is spot on. I'd call it a few years over the hill. There's an initial brightness that's promising but it's overall quite dark, chewy and stewed. Doesn't have the tension or elegance I want from a barbaresco. Certainly reflects the vintage. Still OK if you drink it with some red meat tho.

2 hr decant, bricky margin, mature fruity nose. Had with Oso bucco. Nose was quite curious but muted. On the palate the fruit broke thru but flattened in the mid palate and faded. There was long nice savoury finish but i was left wanting. Past prime now and falling. Drink up!

Bottle definitely has peaked and on way downhill (for my palate).
Brownish red color with slight meniscus. On nose, tar, tree bark, prune, dark cherry and tobacco. Fruit brighter on palate with sweet cherry, dried cherry, plum and earthy notes. Medium body, medium acidity and integrated tannins. Long finish. Enjoyed his more at age 9/10 than now. Still a nice bottle but fruit too dried / out stewed relative to the nice tertiary characteristics you get at this age - I think the stage of the fruit is a function of a warm vintage (but that is just a guess). 91+/- tonight.

Medium red color. On nose- very complex - floral, sour cherry, sweet tobacco and tart cherry. On palate, similar flavor profile with sweet cherry noticeable as well. Medium+ body, medium tannins, medium acidity and very long finish. 93++ Loved this - didn't have the stewed fruit some Nebbiolo based wines get with age. Should age gracefully for years but clearly at peak today.

Excellent. Ahhhh....si jeunesse savait!

This vintage has been moving upward into a great zone in the past few years. At 12 yrs old it has hit a great stride, and since this is my last bottle I can't see whether it even flies a little higher. As I noted before this wine is a bass or deep baritone. The nose is dark tar and dark fruit. Deep nebbiolo fruit, chewy, earthy, and a backbone of acidity, with softer tannins than previously.

From double magnum. On my 50th - shared with family and friends with Kelly’s delicious lasagna! I only got 1 glass because I had to rush London to the vet for treatment of what we now assume was a bee sting. No formal notes with all of the chaos, and I only got 1 glass! Anyway, it was a delicious wine with bright red fruits and firm tannins with nice acidity. Wish I could try it again but what a wonderful evening with family and friends!

This just keeps getting better. Nose is big with dusty tar and dark fruit. Palate is very baritone or bass -- deep, dark flavors of nebbiolo fruit, chewy, earthy, with still a significant hit of tannins. Beautifully rich tone and ripe flavor overall It still has some legs, though probably should be drunk in the next year or two.

From first opening, there's a powerful aroma of dark fruits from the bottle. In the glass it's a deepish red with no tinges of age. At first, sip, there's not much going on. Then it evolves within an hour to something resembling a Burgundy with fairly dry tannins. Gradually, over a couple of hours some red fruits start to emerge. The acidity is medium and by the 2nd hour the tannins are now fairly soft, silky and smooth. The body is medium to medium-full with a satisfying mid-palate and long-ish finish. This is a very enjoyable PdB that's approaching its prime but probably not yet peaked. If your stock has been stored well, then I don't see any rush to drink up as this should hold good for a number of years to come. However, of the 2006 and 2007 vintages, the 2006 Normale (from the single Cru juices) seems a tad more youthful at this stage, which means I'll be more likely to drink the 2007 up first. Remarkably consistent value and quality from vintage to vintage, PdB is a fantastic producer of Barbaresco, and their Normale is of outstanding QPR.
Day 3, holding very good! Back to resembling a dry but medium-full bodied Burgundy.

Bright fruit and seductive depth. Paired with tapas at my best friend Denis’ house, so even better. As with all Produttoris, drinkable and ageable - this one still has legs at 12.

I think this wine is on the way down a bit. The tannins are gone. The nose and palate have earth, mushroom, and some plum. Still tasty, but I would suggest drinking up over the next 12 months.

In contrary with my last go with this wine the (over) ripeness which I experienced as disturbing disappeared. instead: young mature with dark fruits and plums. Tertiary tones such as forest floor, coffee and leather. Good acidity and mellowing out tannines. went perfectly with a truffel pasta.

3 liter bottle, PaP. Smooth, open and balanced with very pleasant tannins, lots of dark fruits, leather, wet forest and with a mild and sweet herbs nose. Almost burgundy style in its harmony and lack of aggressiveness. My impression have drunk quite a few of these PdB Barbaresco's is that there is a big advantage with magnum and above when it comes to experiencing the wine..

Deep red center, red to orange rim. Coffee and black plums, touch spicy, brandied oranges, tar, jammy. Smooth, touch sweet, blackberries, good acidity and tannin, pepper, good oak, slight greenness, very long finish. Very good Barbaresco, quite big with a slight port like quality, drinking okay now, but will improve over the next 5 years.

Orange rim with a garnet core. I don’t know, I hate to say it.. but I’m really just not into this wine. I fell in love with the Produttori 4-5 years ago and went and loaded up on bottles.. but now that they are about 10 years old I’m just not into the new aged flavours. For me, it’s stewed fruits, Carob (or kind of vegemite?), alcoholic heat and tannins. This one had a bit of dustiness on the entry that was good, but that’s it.. Missing are the roses and clay of its younger days. Maybe someone can help me? Is this just an awkward phase and they get past this or is that it and I gotta learn to love it or just try to drink the produttori wines young?

Initially closed and tight, but quickly opens into an opulent, rich Nebbiolo with silky, plush cherry fruit, fragrant roses, bitter cocoa, and volatile carbaceous aromas. Still a vibrant red, there are very taut tannins and plenty of acidity. The cruise is in full swing and a lot fun, but the destination is still far in the distance.

Fairly ripe Neb with some tertiary elements coming through. Nice tar and violets impressions and even some fruity sweetness. Tannines fully integrated. For me they can be a bit more 'lean and mean' with some grip on them.

Starting to show some bottle age.. doesn't have the rose and tar typical of just released bottles. Instead the dominate character is carob and sweetness (sorry for the odd reference, but if you've ever smelled this stuff it makes sense!). Still some tannins here, but a bit mellower. Can't say these new flavors are a big improvement. Actually, I think I prefer the youthful flavors, based on my limited experience with aging the Produttori bottling, but lets see where this is at in a few more years.

Vinetasters: 2007 Produttori (Skokie, IL): Served single blind. L10.119. I actually wrote that this was the most middle-of-the-road of all of the wines tasted. The acidity on this did stick out a little bit, being perhaps a touch on the tart side. The tannins were perhaps a bit too big for the smaller shoes of this wine, but besides that, everything seemed to be in a good place, and nothing stuck out in particular. My 9th, group's 9th.

Experience was mostly consistent with that of the previous bottle (18th Oct 2015). This bottle, however, had no sediment at all. Again, floral and red fruit aromas were apparent when first opened. The red colour in the glass when held to the light was, if anything, even more attractive than it was previously (perhaps because no pigments had been lost to precipitation this time). As last time the wine had markedly improved by the second day, we again saved half of the bottle for the following evening. I was amazed how over 24 hours in the decanter the perfume of the wine had intensified and how much more complex the favors on the palate had become! This 2007 Barbaresco has freshness of acidity, fairly generous red fruits and tannins all in the right proportions now and, judging from its overnight evolution, it has the potential to evolve favorably over the next couple of years and be enjoyable for another 5-8 years from hereon. This time I have bumped the score up a notch to top end of excellent (93) based on its evolution potential. I will save my 2007's for now and will crack on with the 2005's.

Thanksgiving Dinner (Fremont, CA): Coravin 11/26/15: Pale ruby, clear, no bricking; nose has fresh berries, tar, roses, light on the nose; palate is light-medium bodied, high tannin still needs a little time to integrate, but excellent concentration of red fruit, nice depth, complexity; medium finish. Classic nebbiolo, don't know if I could tell Barolo vs. Barbaresco but excellent quality and depth for the price, enjoyable now but could use decades. 89-90. I would definitely try more of the cru bottlings based on this. 12/4: a bit more aromatic this time around, double decanted 3 hours ago, floral, tar; palate is similar, maybe more red fruit. I think this needs age, but showing well now. 90-91

This has aged well and might be about as good as it's going to get now. Lots of strawberry and bright cherry with hints of rose, dark flowers, some leather, but not much tar. The acids are still holding up and the tannins definitely provide some grip. The finish is really really nice and long. Had it with pasta and a chunky tomato sauce drizzled with a little truffle oil. Perfect.

Floral and red fruit aromas were present immediately upon decanting. There was quite a noticeable build up of sediment on the side of the empty bottle where it had been lain down. However, in the glass there was no sign of fading of the pigments and no bricking at the rim. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied with smoothed out tannins and a lingering fresh acidity. On the second day the wine was extremely floral, and the acidity had become a little more pronounced. I can't estimate how many more years this 2007 PdB has left, but it is certainly drinking very well at the moment and should remain excellent for a good couple of years yet. This is magnificent stuff for what, for want of a better word, is a Normale (that punches well above its weight)!

First time trying this since release, and it has loosened up a good bit. It's still very tannic on the back end, and gets more tannic nice with air. That being said there is a good bit of red fruit, and hints of floral elements as well. Overall this is shaping up to be more classic than I might have expected based on the reputation of the vintage.

clear medium red with touch of orange at rim. Nice red fruit and orange peel and fennel flavors with richness and some thickness. Lots of acidity and tannin so I think I would wait longer for the tannins to settle. Not as elegant as some of my other 2007 Barbarescos but still very good. Great with food but really needs more time in bottle.

Breathed around an hour in glasses. Beautiful clear cherry red core with a lighter bricked rim. The nose shows a mix of red fruit & tarry notes. Moderate aromatic depth. The palate shows a burst of red fruit on the high side of ripeness- enough that some plummy notes begin to emerge. Acidity is behind this fruit & ample tannin. It shows some elegance on day 2. Definitely a big version of Nebbiolo. Don't be shy about pairing this 2007 with a steak or rich stews.

What a difference 3 years in the cellar made (see 5/15/12 note). This wine has significantly improved. Clear garnet with a subtle brick tint. Nose of black cherry, tar, spice, and herbs.

The brown-orange color of this wine keeps surprising me. Lovely nose with lots of leather, some wet soil, blue and dark red berries and a touch of vanilla (if it wasn't just because of the earlier making of cookies for christmas). A long smooth taste with just enough acid to give a nice long pleasant taste. Enjoyed it at dinner with game tenderloin and hand picked chanderelles from Sweden. Very enjoyable now and probably for the next 5-6 years.

Hit the decanter for 2 hours before being served with grilled rosemary chicken. Light garnet color. Cherry and baking spice aromas. Light cherry flavors and more baking spices with some raw hide. Agreed with the decant. I suggest 2 hours for any fruit to come forward. Initial nose had some alcohol on it, with the red cherry and a bit of wood. On the pallet I kept getting a chocolate fudge thing, which really confused me at first. The balance of acid and tannin is nice, and the body is medium at best, but the finish enjoyably lingers. Nice regional example.

Surprisingly open at that stage. Nose of strawberries, sour cherries and also some dark fruit, flowers and some tar and dried fruits. Medium body with a medium- low acidity and medium high tannins. Good length. The acidity is relatively low for this usually classic Barbaresco. But it must be the pretty warm vintage with lower levels of acidity and more immediate accessibility. Nevertheless, the tannins are there, but slightly on the dry side. Not sure if they will ever fully integrate... It's still a very nice Barbaresco at a decent price for medium-term consumption.

This rating is glass two poured four hours after a glass one VNP.....which was tight and unapproachable...four hours later....she's there...spice, leather, and sour cheery nose, leading to an expressive palate with a floral component, orange, cherry, and a subtle earthy back end. This wine is very young....wait two years and she will be singing with a normal decant.

An entry-level Nebbiolo with good typicity. Transparent ruby and light-bodied. Starts out smelling like varnish. That note never goes away entirely but recedes, and is complemented by some florals, citrus, spice, and marzipan. On the palate there's a respectable dose of sour cherry fruit, but not enough to stand up to the very dialed-up acidity, at least without food--among the adjectives used at the table were "piercing" and "searing." Less tannic than I would have expected.

This wine had a perfumed nose of spicy red fruit, orange peel, rose petals and earth/black dirt with the red fruits and spice rounding out the palate. On day 2, the red fruit was darker, primarily featuring cherry. Overall, this was a very approachable, lovely wine from the first glass and a perfect complement to spaghetti with ragù.

The nose was ripe with cherry fruit and plum, yet lifting in it's hints of mountain herbs, rose and bell pepper. On the palate it was silky smooth and much softer than I'd expect for a young Nebbiolo. Cherry sauced with mulling spice and hints of cedar filled the sense while fine, drying tannin mounted toward the finish providing a engaging mixture of textures on the palate.
** Worthy of note, as the wine has now been open for 24 hours. The nose has turned richer and darker, adding notes of tobacco, ripe black cherry and intense sweet spice. On the palate, the acidity is more noticeable, yet this is still showing ripe red fruits, spice and an herbal quality, without any sign of oxidative decline. The same drying tannin coated the senses through the finish, which was restrained, as expected in youth. This second day performance has seriously raised my opinion of the wine and its aging potential.

Light ruby colour. Takes at least an hour to open up. Red berries and clay on the the nose. Roses and tannins on the palate and finish. This wine seems delicate, but it packs a punch on the finish. Well balanced. This wine slowly grows on you. Seduces you. Very, very good. For my palate, better than the 2006. It hides the 14.5 degrees alcohol well and doesn't show hot vintage characteristics. Hot, broad, and tannic on the attack, with a big cherry liqueur character, and hints of flower and spice, it gains focus and finesse on the finish. Open now, it could probably use a few years to settle down but it's not a long-ager. Not my favorite vintage of this wine.

20minutes of decanting but really the wine is too young to eveolve. Still has a sharp feel and is on the dry side which we hope will mellow down as it ages as the fruit is very light to be honest. Light on the weight but still elegant and very old school barbaresco. 86-87 at the moment.

Beautifully rich and fresh Nebbiolo nose of rose, strawberry, light black cherry, sweet tobacco and herbs. Really good concentration of flavour - has power and firm structure under a compelling and elegant feminine fruit profile with a long, sweet and dry finish. I wasnt expecting the 'normal' barbaresco to have this much quality. This really is excellent stuff. 91 points

Italy 2012 - Piemonte; 7/8/2012-7/14/2012 (La Morra): Tasted at the winery. Open and ripe nose with loads of dark fruit and clove coming forth. In the mouth it’s softer and more approachable than the ’08 with chewy tannins and a dry finish. This is drinking very well today but doesn’t have the same potential as the ’08. Drink now and for another 7-10 years. Very good. 89+

Not much to quibble with here, perhaps a touch more acid would provide a little extra freshness. Otherwise this btl showed lovely balance, intriguing nose and transparent varietal charactor. No oakyness whatsoever which is a big plus. I'm not into modern producers of Nebiolo. Popped and poured. No rough edges here. Drink or hold.

Dark, clear ruby without discernible brick. Reticent nose of smoke, herb, and plum. Medium palate of red and dark fruit, spice, anise, herbaciousness, and minerals. Juicy on the attack and midpalate. OK length. Pleasant acidity. Youthful tannins. Didn't live up to my (perhaps unrealistic) hopes. Seemed more like a LN.

Fredagsvin (Probar): Very tasty vintage with soft caressing red fruit, rubber and herbal notes. Quite different from the more "serious" 06. Even though this has got structure enough to be considered somewhat serious. Recommendable.

A nose of game, wet woods along with mushrooms and leaves. The taste was of cherries, morel mushrooms with a subtle mineral sense. This improved with time in the glass. On the 2nd night, it was even better, with black cherry and violet aromas and firm tannins along with spicy notes.

Maybe it was the double decant followed by some time in the glass, or the braised rabbit with polenta that accompanied it...either way, this was pleasantly more drinkable than I expected given most of the reviews. Excellent depth and complexity with a distinctly elegant finish. Can only think this will improve with more time on it's side.

Agree with the earlier review re: "ripe but good". Very juicy. It's remarkably approachable today, perhaps better in a few years, assuming it doesn't shut down. Seemingly modern in styling, while still balanced for my palate. Big fruit, but acidity and tannins to provide structure (I think) for several years of development. My guess, and that's all it is...drink 2016 and beyond. Rationale - as approachable as this is now, I am concerned it will go stupid for a few years before it hits its stride. 90+ points for folks approving of the modern style.

Really too young to be evaluted yet, but I had to have a taste. Popped and poured, no decanting. At the moment just lots of fresh, red fruits, and not much of the Nebbiolo markers I look for. The taste also gave a somewhat "burned" impression like I have tasted a couple of times in the Produttori Langhe Nebbiolo. So, at the moment not too impressing for me, but was also my impression the first time I tasted the '06 - and that changed after some months.

Starting to show some bottle age.. doesn't have the rose and tar typical of just released bottles. Instead the dominate character is carob and sweetness (sorry for the odd reference, but if you've ever smelled this stuff it makes sense!). Still some tannins here, but a bit mellower. Can't say these new flavors are a big improvement. Actually, I think I prefer the youthful flavors, based on my limited experience with aging the Produttori bottling, but lets see where this is at in a few more years.

I would definitely try more of the cru bottlings based on this.

Ripe medium palate of black cherry, black licorice, cinnamon, and vanilla. Excellent length. Refreshing acidity. The tannins are youthful, but have lost some grip. Evolving nicely.

Very nice wine.
Great scent of sour cherries, cocoa, cognac, cinnamon and, sometimes, chestnut.
In the mouth it has, for me a great balance of fruit, tertiary flavours, tannins and, surprisingly, freshness, delivered by some excellent acidity.
The body is, as typical for Piemont, medium at most, but no question this wine is colorful, self-confident and joyful.
20 EUR are not unfair for this quality.

All notes below cover it. A little thin and just a bottom tannic, but it's really splitting hairs on a solid wine.

Good wine, nice nose, still very tannic, my rating based upon now, I assume that the wine will improve over time, light color, drank with a t-bone steak and it paired well, fruit slowly emerged as we drank the bottle.

Cherry, floral, black pepper, cedar nose. Tart cherry, floral, spiced palate with lots of acidity and firm tannins. Needs 3-5 years.

Decanted 2,5 hours. Really nice. needed the decant to be drunk now.
Clear red color, nice nose of cherry, red berries. Good palate, even though it is very young.

App: Ruby red
Aroma: Beautiful nebbiolo nose. Roses, strawberries, spices and a touch of liquorice.
Medium bodied with nice acidity and rather smooth tannins. Still a little restless on the palate, so I guess it needs some time to calm down.
Good length
Good potential

A nose of game, wet woods along with mushrooms and leaves. The taste was of cherries, morel mushrooms with a subtle mineral sense. This improved with time in the glass. On the 2nd night, it was even better, with black cherry and violet aromas and firm tannins along with spicy notes.

excellent QPR here from the Produttori. a bit tight but mushrooms and cherries aromas leap from the glass with some coaxing. good balance with fine grain tannins. ripe cherries on palate - morello, maraschino with slight bitter finish.

Strawberries galore, beautiful ripe fruit, with cherry like acidity, tar, rose petals... Barely evolved on the second day. Lots of fruit for a Nebbiolo, but sooo tasty... Great qpr.
