An epic vertical of Chateau Montrose (Restaurant Daniel): Orange color (compared to the others which had all retained their color despite their advanced age). Cinnamon on the nose. Intense and long acidic finish. Over the hill but interesting. Montrose vertical 1895-2000

The 1895 Montrose is still drinking very well, with a creamy bouquet of vanilla pod, griotte cherry and dried currants, and a impressively full, dry and intense palate impression. While I imagine this might have boasted just a bit more energy a few decades ago, this was still an extremely creditable showing, and I doubt the wine is going to change very much anytime soon.

Faint cinnamon notes but otherwise DOA.
