The nose is the highlight here. A lot going out with mushroom tea, leaves, some dried flowers. Good level of acidity, but little drying in the finish. Fruit and warmth just slightly lacking.

Ye Paulee (Hao Noodle): 04808/21118. Liked it more than I imagined, very balanced especially for the vintage, showing higher acidity and good drive. 94

Nose: blueberry, meat, smoke, dried leaves, wet earth, spices Notes: It would be fair to conclude that the 1995 LT is still quite young and energetic and could probably survive another 10 years of cellaring before exiting it's prime drinking window. Nevertheless I was not impressed by this wine. The nose demonstrates the more heavy and darker aromas and the palate I feel is a bit out of balance. Putting price tag aside I still don't find much excitement in the wine and it is rather unfortunate. I think the wine is ready to consume now and is probably within its optimal drinking window. I can't help but feel a little disappointed. Drink: Now+ Rating: 90

(Romanée-Conti La Tâche) Almost as deep colour as the 1996, but perhaps with an extra hint of youth. On pouring the nose is a little diffuse, it needs time to develop into a wonderfully meaty mix of savoury and fruit driven aspects. Doesn't have quite the volume in the mouth as the 1996 but rather than building it's attack, it delivers a knockout punch right from the start - even seems slightly fresher than 1996. The tannins still have quite a rasp, but there's the next 20 years-plus to wait for them to soften. Gorgeous intensity. I slightly prefer this to our bottle of 1996.

Reserved nose of purple fruits, and rose petals.
Strong and very rough tanning with acidity give it the very la tâche structure.
