Low ullage to middle shoulder and slight raised cork; heavy bricking; amber color with black hints and fairly translucent; opened up with notes of tea, pot-pouri, dried leaves with a slight acetic acid element; then came more exotic spices, sous-bois, and a faint red berry element; in the mouth this was silky with minerally red earth note (iron comes to mind) tiny red berries and mushrooms and earth; lighter with completely resolved tannins and medium tangy acidity; the finish was medium long with a distinctive kahlua-coffee liqueur note along with underbrush. The wine was obviously not in the best condition, and not a great year, but I was surprised that it was not completely gone. In fact, it was quite pleasant and tasty.
