Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Grands Echezeaux: This World War II era wine certainly looked like it had been through a war, the label was tattered. The wine came from a generous friend who is a longtime Burgundy collector, so we are confident this is the genuine article so to speak. The color was light, a browning garnet that was closer to transparent than opaque. The wine was somewhat acrid, and never really came around. There was the occasional enticing aroma, and some moments of hope that it would stretch its legs and come around, though it never did. It's an honor to taste something of this age and historical significance, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
