"Casual DRC BYO": 00192/10606, some decanted. Ripe (14.5% ripe, which is not the case with most other cuvées of this vintage), quite polished and pretty with a huge structure underneath. Wine left in the bottles shows more nuances. Could be the best/most complete GE yet, certainly the largest, if it ever shakes off its baby fat to reach the delicate balance of 2010. Not a vintage to be popped today. 95-96+

2826/10606 - initially very ripe and somewhat lacking nuance left it in decanter for two hours and it was a game changer thankfully with plenty of earth, spice, rose pedals and wild flowers, minerality even pencil shavings coming out to play. I think the Petits Monts today is more rewarding today but this GE holds immense promise and might get to a stage where it eclipses the almighty 1999. high alcohol is a concern though for those 2019s so it might all prove a pipe dream…
November in St-Gallen) www.vvwine.ch

DRC 2019 Vintage Presentation: Very rich and ripe, the warm vintage on full display, a touch of alc. heat as well. Sweet cherry with cinnamon spice, dense. This time I felt the gap to the normal Ech was much smaller, just a bit riper and denser but that did not translate into a higher score. What I liked here was a light whole cluster note on the finish. Definitely a wine for the cellar at least till 2030.
