Surprisingly good showing given the horrible condition of the cork and major ullage. Brownish red color also gave some pause. Happily, there was still fruit left in this grand wine. Very exotic, with strong tea notes. A privilege and pleasure to drink. If a bottle in this state shows well, then pristinely stored bottles should be epic.
Tried this at a wine dinner at Ibiza in New Haven. Nose was very interesting with some earth, dried fruit and mushroom. The palate revealed it still had some fruit but more secondary nuances dominated. Impressive.

(DRC Grands Echezeaux) that was at Wilf.s table, I believe. There was a lot of beef bouillon and menthol to this leathery wine, which was right there in quality with the 1971 we just had, although I did only have a couple small tastes
