Well stored, this bottle was simply wonderful. Brilliant pure garnet to the eye, nowhere near bricking, explosive mid palate power and a finish that went on forever.

From a good looking bottle with a 2.5 cm fill, this wine had a light red center and orange rims. The medium intensity nose put forth sautéed cherries, roses, tan spices, and some soil.
In the mouth, this refined wine had nice richness, light rounded tannin, and fine-grained acidity. It also had a lovely mineral quality and surprising length for a fully resolved wine.
This lovely wine should be consumed ASAP! However, please note that even though this wine was fully mature, it did not show its "peacock's tail" until after 4 hours in a decanter.

DRC Grands Echezeaux 1964 - beautifully tuned nose on dried plum, tea, musk, dried flowers, dried meat. The palate follows on a constant richness, voluptuous, silky, with an incredible grip.

Dry tea notes and dried red flowers on the nose, but an off palate.

2016 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly, Alan and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/3/2016-11/12/2016 (Villa D’este, Lake Como, Piedmont, Milan and Frankfurt): This is a porcini wonder. Tertiary dominated nose, porcini, truffle, only a hint of blackberry, soy and earth. Fully integrated palate, silky, cool and a medium to long finish. A bit more fruit would have nicely counter balanced the porcini/truffle. I would love to try another bottle.
