Beguiling nose of dark cherries, sweet earth and horse barn. Deliciously ripe and deep dark cherry fruit is balanced beautifully by spritzy acidity. A brooding red Burgundy with layered depth of earthy/rustic flavors and a lovely silky texture. The finish is complex with firm, dry tannins and strong mineral notes along with fabulous spices. Still at least 5 years away from peak. 94+
DRC Dinner 1 (Sydney, Australia): Lovely floral aromas to start with, supported by some light charred cedar, redcurrant and cloves - given time in the glass, the florals moved to the background and more earthy notes come to the fore. The palate is medium bodied, with a core of red fruit persisting. It perhaps lacks real character or palate complexity to lift it, but it was nicely close to its peak and rather enjoyable regardless.
Spicy and vibrant nose, not as much Bose romance funk as I expect. Very fresh, fruit forward, lush typical drc chactoristic power. Some strawberry, elderberry, pomegranate. Really lovely and starting to drink, but will go for many years.
Dinner with Friends (Chicago IL): Opened about 20 minutes before serving. Very powerful aromatics. Dense black and red cherry with quite a bit of earth and brown spice. Equally powerful dark fruit, earth and spice on the palate. A firm mineral backbone. Great texture with a lengthy, gripping finish.
Tasted at the Vintages auction gala tasting. I really enjoyed this even though I normally don't like Pinot Noirs. A very mild bouquet with a light colour to it. The taste was beautiful and well balanced.
