  • I've often heard that you really cannot drink enough Yquem, can you? While I really believe that's true, I'm looking forward to the day we find out for sure. Sip after sip of laser focused, perfectly ripe, tropical fruit, citrus, apricots, vanilla, white peach and nectarine all slathered in honey with incredible levels of freshness made each sniff, swirl and swallow a treat. This is quite primary, but the fruit and textures are so gorgeous, it's difficult not to love the wine in your glass.

  • Color amarillo dorado bien brillante e intenso, limpio y gruesa lágrima bien lenta.

  • Very sweet, powerful and concentrated, with fresh, lively, honey drenched tropical fruits, vanilla and floral notes. The wine has depth, complexity and length. Now, all it needs is a decade or two of bottle age.

  • from 375ml
Day 1 - Tasted 2 hours after opening. Light straw gold color, initial familiar sauternes sweetness aroma followed quickly by a light pleasant floral scent, and then revert back to pineapple & citrus smell. Upon tasting, taste followed the exact pattern, with additional hint of smokeiness / burnt at the finish. So smooth with great balance of acidity. Obviously quite young, but very enjoyable right now.
Day 2 - (left 1 oz overnight in bottle in fridy - just pop the cork back in) Color is the same, aroma & taste was dominated by sweetness of pineapple / apricot, and the floral note is ever so faintly present.
Day 1 was much more yummy.

(Château d'Yquem (Sauternes)) A fine, meaty density on the nose here, with creamed yellow fruits, lanolin, vanilla pod, overall a deliciously honeyed combination of flavours. The palate starts off fairly understated, before a savoury weight coming in through the midpalate which counters the balanced sweetness of the wine. This is elegant rather than intense, although there is certainly a good layer of complex phenolic elements bringing a welcome, savoury bitterness to the back of the wine. Sweet yet fresh and balanced, despite the overt density of the wine. Excellent.
