Developed and floral Burgundy like aromas, with some greenness. Light weighted, finely textured and well balanced. Not of same quality as the 2010 though.

I've really enjoyed the younger vintages of this wine, having tried both the 2020 and 2021 within the past year. So, seeing a bottle with 10 years of age on the wine list was incredibly exciting.
Initially, it was quite funky, almost off-putting. Since I hadn't experienced a Beaujolais with this much age before, I didn't want to assume the wine was bad. It had a super sour, almost spoiled red fruit flavor. Thankfully, this seemed to dissipate quite quickly with some exposure to oxygen.
Afterward, the bottle showed lively cherries, earthy notes, and subtle spice from time to time. It was a super interesting and enjoyable bottle to taste. I would love to try it again, as I know this wine can exhibit drastic variations in the bottle with time.

Un vin ayant vieillit avec élégance, petits fruits acidulés, bouquet légèrement sur le thé. La bouche est fine et fondue mais toujours vécu ce fruit croquant et cette acidité lui donnant structure et minéralité.

starts all sour red pruneaux before gathering structure and confidence. Heady perfumes. Roiled, tangled actions involving cinnamon, strawberry jam, loosely organized licorice, duck fat, stiff and finely grained tannins, and freshly brewed coffeepot. absolutely stunning. I hope the last 5 ounces in the bottle is meaningful tomorrow when I share it with jarred. ________ 24 hours later, resealed from the fridge and drove across town, I could notice no sign of oxidation or decay. There's a boisterous, fresh pulpy fruit quality to its surface of flavors. I like it best with the time and space to meditate on it a bit, to repeat a few drinks. The core is a hypnotic charm, resilient and stony. There are plenty of exotic spices there to ponder, too, without being pushy. A great success.
Lots of bottle variation here. No score as it wouldn't bE fair. This wine can be amazing with age and 14s tend to show great when they're on- but this bottle wasn't as nice a the last one. Feel apart too quickly in the glass

Stood up for several weeks. Decanted off fine sediment. Now 2.5h after decant. Lovely, almost seamless aromas of bright red cherries, minerals, a hint of bubblegum, herbs, and a hint of balsamic vinegar. Palate w minerals, bright cherries, herbs, a bit of bubblegum. Medium body w excellent acids and mild+ tannins. Nice lingering finish. Love this vintage in Beaujolais. Full of flavor but also with lovely savory notes. Great balance. The wine is just beginning to pinote where Gamay moves toward Pinot. Subtle but it's there. Has the acid and tannins structure for another many more years. Open next bottle in 3-5 yrs when I think there will be more complexity and it moves more towards Pinot. 92+

What an underestimated region Beaujolais sometimes still is. This was brilliant and that at €35/bottle. Medium+ intensity on the nose. Such pure red fruit, combined with intruiging barnyard, dark cherries, minerality. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins, long pure bright red fruit finish. 92+

Body has lightened a bit since release, I initially picked up what seemed like a bit of brett on opening, but that’s gone now, so probably just some genie in the bottle funk. Now it’s pure gamay, a touch of baking spices, then a medium/lighter body palate, with nice medium intensity, pretty decent acidity, what tannins there were have softened and mostly melted into the wine, but there is enough fine structure. In a good spot, still showing its youth, but coming around to maturity. Honestly, I’m not sure how long lived this will be, or if it will age into something significantly better.

A beautiful Cote du Py. Lovely balance across all aspects: red fruit and pine-savoury flavours, tension and openness, and acid and sweetness. Excellent drive across the palate with very supple tannins and just a hint of grip. Just too tasty and ‘in the zone’ to leave in the cellar.

Olive tapenade, violet, morello cherry, rosemary, cola, mahogany, and leather. Silky with crunchy cherry, dried herbs, and balsamic. Electric palate with a persistent, dry finish. Intensity begins to peak after about an hour of air. In a great place. Drink/hold.

Double decanted for about 2 hours, and yep, another really great bottle of this wonderful Cote du Py. Still fresh and vibrant with plenty of the cherry, red berries and herbaceousness of youth, but it’s starting to develop some nice forest floor notes now with 9 years under its belt. Sweet and sour vibe with stoney minerality. Tannins have slipped away leaving behind a fairly lithe and supple wine. Drinking at or close to peak now, but should be fine for a good number of years to come.

The recent (bretty) ‘13 I had over Xmas prompted me to check in on this bottle. Sad to see some of the same initial horsey barnyard notes. Blew off after a while and had more of a core of tangy fruit than the ‘13. Every time I looked the horse was less and less noticeable, more powdery, mushroomy, earthy. Faint sense of dustiness on the palate and sort of sandy, spicy tannins. Really bright sour cherry, very Burgundian. Threshold brett imparts that sort of sweet and sour profile but doesn’t strip fruit too much here thankfully. I’ve had enough foillard now to confidently say bottle variation plays a big part.

On the nose: sweet dark red cherries, licorice, 'animal notes', after some time a hint of sous bois. The palate is dominated by dark red fruit, again a hint of sous bois, nice acidity and medium length palate. There is still the structure and savoury flavour profile of maceration carbonique, but it is more in the background compared to when it was young. Very nice wine, as Foillard's wines most often are:)

A little less candied than the previous bottle. Fruity nose. Clear in the glass. Light on its feet. Bright cherries. This is nice, but not really better with several more years in the bottle.

I’ve read/heard multiple times that when you age a Foillard CdP it magically turns into a Premier Cru Bourgogne for a fraction of the price. Nope! It doesn’t. There is no new oak that has integrated with time. This tastes aged Morgon. It still tastes barnyard, it still has that Morgon funk, it’s juicy but has lost the fruit. This was good but it was better 2016-2020, and the first bottle was probably the best when it had this cheeky spritz on the tongue as well. Live and learn.
Bouteilles mieux dégustée qu’il y a quelques années. Celles-ci ne présentaient pas de déviances, pas de volatile. Le fruit de presente bien mais le vin n’offre pas encore de complexité. Bien mais j’attendais plus

Wow!! This was so good. It smells more like a pinot noir of pedigree than gamay. Garnet red with no signs of age at the edges. Cranberry, red cherry, and spice on the nose. More cherry on the palate with raspberry and some clove. We drank this with a snack plate of olives, pita chips, whipped goat cheese and caprese salad. So good. And was lovely with second course of chicken and sausage gumbo. Low acid. Everything is well integrated in this bottle. I will definitely seek more to keep in the cellar.

A light+ garnet. Earthy aromas supplemented with Morello cherries, strawberries, dark chocolate (50%) and some sweet oregano. A crisp more mineral-edged acidity on entry, the wine is filled with strawberry compote, pastille notes, light cream and dark chocolate and complexed with some earthy tones. Vibrant and juicy, I got that slight carbonic edge but nicely done. Very light fruit wrapped tannins. 30- to 70-year-old vines. 16 hectares. Crumbling granite and ancient schist soils.

Opened this to pair with my wife's amazing salmon filet and spinach ravioli. The pairing was Ok, but I was left disappointed for the most part. First, there is some brett influence here that I'm not a fan of - not too much, but noticeable. Second, there is a slightly elevated amount of VA - also not a fan. Third, it seemed to not really have evolved in a good way -- it just didn't have the freshness that it had in its youth that I liked so much. Still, it was moderately enjoyable paired with the Salmon, just not as good as I had hoped. Maybe the bottle was slightly off. In any case, if I was scoring this bottle, it would be 88 - 89.
This could well be the best Cru Beaujolais I have ever had— of hundreds. I just found this last 2014 magnum buried under other magnums and I was truly surprised at how beautifully all of the elements have come together in a way that was not evident just a couple of years ago. I have been a fan of the 2014 vintage for Cru Beaujolais since they were released and still believe that it is the best vintage in recent history. However, some of the best MORGON have been disappointing in the past year, showing not just evolution, but a falling apart at times of the better producers‘ cuvees. And while I agree with some who note that these wines will age nicely, I do not believe that they will be better. Based upon my tastings of older Cote de Py, they take on interesting animal and Bordeaux like notes but do not necessarily deliver the freshness and unique fruit of a well cultivated Gamay grape at six or seven years old. And of course in the hands of a master like Foillard, there are few who do better ,especially from this site. No decant needed though of course cellar temp a must.

Opened last night. Still amazingly dark. Nose has big-time crunchy raspberry fruit that just fills the senses. Effusively fruity! Not terribly complex, just really intense. Mouth has much of the same, with a harder, more acidic edge to the fruit. Astringent, in a good way. This is drinking well now, and I am curious to see how it will evolve over another five years or so, as I have little experience with aged Beaujolais. Unfolds nicely into the finish. Would be an excellent food wine with lots of different things. Really shows me that Beaujolais can be a truly serious wine. 4-13-16-8: 91/100.

First time I try this wine with some age. Very satisfied to say the least!
In my book is this in the middle of its peak and will probably last at least four more years. Will probably still be good after that, but more fun than good if you ask me.
Beautiful maturity, dried light-red fruits, no deposit from what I saw (restaurant purchase), very pleasant alcohol and body.
I have one more of this in my own cellar. Will open it up before 2023

Overall not much to add from last note but has taken a step further towards maturity. Clearly volatile at pour but became a lot more harmonious with air. I was planning to cellar this vintage longer but during the evening it became clear to me that, although this will gain in complexity and depth, I'm pretty sure I appreciated the first bottles more because of its youthful energy and drive. One to go, let's see how long I can stay away from it. Would be interesting to taste a bottle of CdP with some serious age to it.

Lovely nose of dark cherry and chalky minerals. Follows through beautifully on the palate with tangy cherry fruit and still some carbonic acidity which all coalesces perfectly. Quite a vibrant but also silky texture that leads to a taut, chalky finish showing superb mineral complexity. As good as Bojo gets in my book and in a perfect place today and still very fresh.

Can't add much to what SIR wrote. Though I do not have the cross vintage perspective I'd say this was outstanding, fruit, earth backing, some silk to go with crunch, nuance of Gamay at its best. Balanced, drinking very well now.

12.5% - Clear, med ruby with blackish hue / clean, pronounced intensity of red berry fruit, wild raspberry, violets, wet pebble rocks like minerality, starts to develop earthy mushroom tertiary notes / dry, med+ acidity, med to low fine grained tannin, med body, pronounced intensity with a persistent lingering finish. I've opened a Cote du Py from Foillard from every vintage from 2018 down to 2014 this year and this one kills it! So powerful in a way, yet remains elegant and ethereal.

Light crimson in color 12.5% ABV. Beautiful nose of red fruits, forest floor and minerals. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Elegance and power in spades. Dried cherries, iron and earth on the palate. The finish is long and silky with subtle tannins. Really charming wine that drinks well now but will undoubtedly shine for years to come. Best over the next 2-4 years.

Relativt ungdommelig i forhold til 2013, men mye brett, hønsemøkk og fjøs på duft. Veldig naturvinspreget aromaprofil. I munn er den juicy og fin. La ligge et par år til.

More than two years between drinking these at home and it hasn’t moved much. Still seems very fresh and young to me (kept bottles at 14 degrees celsius). Maybe a hint of rhubarby bitterness that I find in gamay often and don’t enjoy is what lowers my score this time, but it is still a very delicious wine and the benchmark Morgon Cote du Py-vintage. Let’s just hope we will see a vintage like it soon and don’t end up with only warm and cooked vintages going forward.

Red berries, red cherries, blood orange, white pepper, and some spicy notes on the nose. Refreshing acidity with tart red berries, pomegranate, and a hint of forest notes on the palate. Nice finish. Drinking really well right now, but I could also see filierter upside. I’m drinking mine too quickly...

Very nice bright strawberry and classic gamay flavors. A tiny bit of earth funk and bright acidity. Love this 2014 vintage as I found the 2015 versions of these a bit too ripe for my taste.

Still very juicy with fruit; some acidity kept this in a good place. Sotto325 had this right - there was a certain funkiness, "animale" scent to this one - this was not distracting for me - that kept this wine interesting. Super drinkable on the first day, too one-dimensional on the second. This was my second and last 2014 (bought from a retailer last year).
I dont know Foillard wines well; but the two 2016s that I had last year appears to had been more interesting in comparison to the 2014s that I had this year.

Alas, my last 2014. What an incredible vintage for cru Beaujolais. Interestingly, this very lush, fruit-laden wine evolved into a slightly more acidic balance with a strong animale scent that persisted throughout. I enjoyed it, and it reminded me a bit of a wonderful Languedoc old vine wine. But it is also interesting that, unlike Foillard in prior vantages, this one did not have a more linear fruit-directed evolution. I would drink it now, despite the fact that it will continue to survive, as the dynamics of the wine are not those of of the 2013, 2011 or 2009.

Typical Foillard Cote du Py - the wine sings with an impressive ease and flamboyance. Great pairing with turkey.

Popped this but didn't spend much time with it. I think I ate something sweet soon after and for me that often messed with my palate - but I did come back to it the next day or two - found it sour and funky with not much going for it. I've had very mixed experiences with Foillard.
Much as the same as my previous note. It's velvety smooth on entry, medium bodied, floral, with some distinct Brett-induced meatiness. Drink sooner rather than later, I'd say, if you don't want the Brett to overwhelm the other characteristics.

Just simply delicious! And a bit complex at that. I had the last bottle over 3 years ago; it was then out of balance. The 2014s , in my view, yielded the best cru Beaujolais in a long time (see also the Bouland and Lapierre), needed some aging, and now this one just sailed. A sophisticated fusion of fruit acid-backed dark blueberry/smoked meat/very moist earth and some dark cherry with some very noticeable spicier tones. Not a Burgundy in class, but truly a fine wine that has now come of age, dropped its early fruitier side notes and tamed the initial higher acid. No decant needed and of course serve at cellar temp.

Slightly better than previous bottle after being decanted for 1-2 hours since this one had more fruit (raspberries, blueberries) appeared. Very aggressive acidity and some Brett initially. But after 4-5 hours the wine was drinking much better. Generally disappointing among a group of very experienced tasters.

Equally good showing as last bottle and with consistent notes. Great fruit core, packed with stones and minerality, good vibrant acidity, a nice herbaceous touch to it, and a seductive luring salinity on both nose and palate. Drinks great but I think there's a few gears left, still on its way up.

This wasn't as giving upon opening as the prior bottle, dominated by a sweet tart palate which I wasn't loving. After about an hour, the aromatics became what I love about Foillard, exotic spice reminiscent of Vosne Romanee. The palate improved as well, but never quite hit the levels of the best Cote du Py. Next time I will plan to let this breathe for a couple hours before serving.

While this still feels fairly young, it has reached som kind of plateau where it is starting to feel more integrated and Pinot-like. The nose is clean, with aromas of red berries and earth. Not really forest floor, more like flower pot, in a good way. Very well built, balanced palate with red fruit and mineral, subtle herbs and a good long-ish finish.

Expressive and initially open fragrance: cherry, marjoram, milk chocolate, and an almost white wine-like side note: peach. On the palate, based on juice and minerality, with mild tannin, which nevertheless gives strength and length, finesse elegance and very tactile minerality.

Light+ ruby to crimson going to a light orang-ey rim. Eloquent nose with wild strawberry, cranberry and light red cherries (quite perfumed) intertwined with a savoury overlay that reveals blood, dry stones, iron and hint of white pepper - almost like a Mencia. Light bodied with a tart, vibrant acidity on entry is filled out with strawberry jam, red cherry paste and blueberry that oozes its way along the palate. The tannins are fine and powdery, fair concentration but a surprising density given it is Gamay. The fruit fleshes out the tannins nicely, and the length is relatively persistent. A delightful wine in the glass that opened to show a smoky edge, cranberry and more crushed stone - the mineral edge gave it a really edgy frame. With its structural integrity, this will go further in the bottle.

Didn't keep any notes. It went down well. Plenty of fruit; fleshy, with enough acidity to keep it interesting, but this one seemed to lack the personality and the precision of the 2016 that I had earlier this year.
Had this right before the Rhys Alesia 2016 with friends; Surprisingly, this one suffered in comparison to the Rhys (which I hadn't liked as much last year)>

Popped and poured. Pale ruby color, very translucent. Really savory aromas on the nose with iron, bloody meat, cranberry, a little pepper and some floral notes. Very nice. Similar flavors on the palate with tart red fruits mixed with more of the bloody, iron notes. Medium+ acid, medium tannin. Overall light bodied but still brings so much to the table. Love these wines when they are on point.

"Wines that don't suck" (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. It's immediately identifiable as gamay with that nose of sucralose. The fruit here feels a bit candied, and there's a slight bitterness on the finish. Oddly enough, I picked up a hint of watermelon as well. In my experience, as good as gamay ever gets.

Medium dark ruby, I get some underbrush, spice, new leather, and probably a touch of brett on the nose; lovely middle weight darker berry flavors, that marionberry/red currant type of note, acidity is moderate though enough for good balance. Very tasty, and drinking nicely now. I think this has lost half a step since drinking it on release, becoming just a bit softer and more supple. Not sure how many years to hang on to my remaining bottles.

Lots of bright juicy fruit, mostly crunchy red ones, with a little blueberry in there too. A slightly funky, savory element. Better on the second day when the funk was gone and the overwhelming impression was of pure, lifted fruits....a bit simple maybe but awfully compelling. I can't figure out what I feel about the QPR of these wines. It's like spending top dollar for a really nice white shirt and you think maybe if you're spending that much you should get a shirt with a little glitz or bling or at least a fancy pattern. But this is an impeccably tailored white shirt wrought of the finest thread and it fits absolutely perfectly.

A most interesting showing. This was opened as a Thanksgiving wine with heritage turkey and shiitake stuffing. Initially, it showed quite young with bright red fruit but as time went on it got darker and Brettier, finishing as a rather Bretty, tart wine. I hope that age will do it some good.

Same btl as R&Rler. I've drank one or two of these in the past on release and deemed them overpriced. Full on, eating my words tonight as this rocked! Perhaps a couple years plus from release makes a huge difference with this producer? Semi translucent red color with amber shades on the edges. This was remarkably mature at 4yrs out and drinking more like a 10yr old plus Burg. Red berries, sous bois and earth on the nose. An elegant, pure red fruited palate with layers of underbrush mushroom, and minerally earth notes. Truly "Burgundian" in personality and weightless finesse. Shit, I guess I have to stop passing up offers for this wine. One of the great things about our informal relaxing wine geek events is we always taste stuff in a way more relaxing and deeper dive then you'd ever get at a paid retailer tasting. I hate those tastings almost every time and avoid them like the plague but these nights with my local buddies is like jamming with a band you've played with for decades. Fun night! And with 7 large pizzas, we didn't go away hungry or buzzed. 93+
Cru Beaujolais and Pizza Night (Brad's Place, St. Paul, MN): Medium dark red color. PNP, drank a glass next to the '11 over 45 minutes. Well, here go with what turned out to be flight of the night. Both of these wines have lot of similarities. For me, they stand on higher ground. I was pretty star struck from the moment I opened this and tried it. There is a purity here that you don't always see, but is a hallmark of great producers. This is evident of that and the wine making at Foillard. Captivating nose, focused and pure, strawberry, red raspberry, deeply earthy, smoke and dried spice. The palate fully delivers on that pretty nose with the same ripe strawberry and red raspberry fruits, such a pretty silky texture with a featherweight feel to it. The earth, smoke, soil, and minerality shines here too. Everything is so balanced; very elegant and harmonious. For anyone who says they don't like Beaujolais, they need to try this. If you don't like it, then you can confidently just move on. The '14 is a notch above the '11 currently. 93 to 93+pts and I feel I may be conservative here. .

When first opened, what hit me was the strong (yet not unpleasant) smell of barnyard / horse fur notes. After about 10 min of air, it mostly blows away, leaving a nose mainly of cherries and mineral.
Velvety red fruit dancing on the tongue, together with bright acidity. Medium finish. Should age well. Will drink my case of magnums over a decade.
Though I liked this wine, I preferred the 2016, which was a more serious wine.

Pretty much consistent with previous notes. Slight development in terms of deeper fruit profile and polished acidity. Extraordinary nose of cherries, lingonberries, red currant, herbs, crushed rocks and so on. Mineral and fresh. Drinks smoothly and dangerously easy. The acidity is of "blood orange-character" and in great balance. Didn't find this as funky as previous bottles. Totally disarming wine with huge potential, they say. (never cellared CdP long enough to find out for myself but a lot of voices, that I normally trust, keeps on telling me that I will be greatly rewarded 5+ years from now. Time will tell.) So good right now. Benchmark.

Lovely nose of sharp maserated cherries and chalky minerals. Delicious ripe black cherry fruit on the palate accompanied by brisk acidity and a bit of carbonation that eventually blows off. Finishes succulent and fresh with an intense cherry/rhubarb crunch and chalky grip. This is aging beautifully and is more structured and serious than the ‘15. As good as it gets in Beaujolais IMO.

First time tried his Côte du Py, I was really impressed. The color was beautiful, clear purple violet, on the nose, a bit of grassy in the beginning, but the aroma gradually evolved to a bit more plummy and dark cherries, on palate, got a lot of red cherry fruits, modest gamey but quite pleasant type, the acidity was vibrant and dynamics, with a finish of cherry skin sweetness. Quite an amazing wine with great value.
Bright acidity but the fruit is ripe and shining now and the wine is in balance. Too tart for a sipper but a great food wine. Delicious red and black cherries and a medium finish. There is some delicious depth in the wine. Worth the wait to May 2018.

Dekantert 2 t.

This did not disappoint. Popped and poured. Medium ruby color. Nose of dark red berry fruit, iron, crushed rock, touch of violet. Very complex. Similar flavors on the palate with an overall balance that was just fantastic. Relatively light in weight but deep in flavor with good acidity and a long finish. Fantastic QPR and I question why I don't buy these wines by the case.

Very nice Cru Bojo - good spices. Red berries and some smoke. Moderate complexity and good nuance. These are great drinking wines that go well with many types of food. For the price point it cant be beaten.

-- decanted 30 min before first taste -- -- tasted non-blind over 2 – 3 hours on Day 1; tasted again on Day 5 --
NOSE: tart red fruits; carbonic; high-toned; savory; stemmy aspect; not bretty; a bit chalky after 2 hours open. Still excellent on Day 5.
BODY: lots of medium-fine particulate matter present; violet-garnet color of medium-deep depth; {forgot to note weight}
TASTE: red-fruited; savory (stems?); high acidity; garrigué on the finish; not tannic; moderate concentration of fruit; red currants and plums; not as "grapey" as usual; excellent, but not the best vintage/bottle for this bottling. gut impression score: 92.

Gamey (no pun intended), earth, spice on the nose. Orange zest and gentle tannin on the palate. Creamsicle smooth with a touch of meatiness on the finish. I don't know many Cru Bojo's, but would call this masculine compared to Thivin's Côte de Brouilly. Is that accurate?

This was all sweetness and light, feminine, complex perfume, red and dark fruited, predominantly rhubarb and pomegranate, orange rind, confection, a bloody, ferrous mineralite, a hint of animale. Complexity continued to evolve over several hours with air. Lighter and softer than both the ‘13 and ‘15, deliciously approachable now.

Brought this to Tungluk Xihe to drink with my buddies from National Service days.
Tight upon opening and wine was given 30 minutes of decanting. After opening up, notes of dark cherries, strawberries and raspberries were evident on the nose and palate. Some minerals and mushrooms evolved after an hour in the glass. Wine was low to medium body; a good complement to the Peking Duck which we had.
Gamay is a good alternative or substitute to Pinot Noirs when pairing with soft red meats or Asian food.

Cherries, funk/brett, red berries, and spices on the nose. Integrated tannins with sour cherries, red fruit, and bitter notes on the palate. Long finish. Reference Beaujolais.

Fragrant, explosively aromatic nose of blueberry, strawberry and black raspberry. Ripe blue and red fruit with cherry and minerals on the palate. Good tannins, medium body and lively acidity. Very soft mouthfeel, slight chalkiness mixed with fruit compote. Wonderful example of what the Gamay grape can do. This was a perfect complement to Thanksgiving dinner and the magnum was a hit. I loved it.

Lovely nose of blueberries, black raspberries and chalky minerals. Quite spritzy at first due to the carbonic maceration but it calmed down in the glass and showed deliciously ripe blue fruits and crisp acidity. Finishes grippy and tangy with notes of mixed berries and chalky minerals. Best with food and I think another one or two years should really benefit the wine. Top notch Beaujolais. 91+

Another Burgundian beauty from Beaujolais. Medium body, fine fruit, great length and finesse from the outset. This went remarkably well with mixed cheeses.

Yum. Pure cherry and strawberry with some carbonic hints, together with a touch of earthy charcoal. Wonderful perfume. Juicy and vibrant on the palate with loads of black cherry, and a softly tannic finish. Very good, if slightly acidic on the finish.
Day 3: Just beautiful. No signs of oxidation, and has softened fantastically.
Day 5: Last glass. Again, has been open, unrefrigerated, on the counter. Shows only the slightest signs of oxidation and still has much of its charm.

The slight brett on the nose is concerning, which I've encountered on every bottle of 2014 I've opened. Other than the brett on the nose, the palate is fantastic with fresh and crunchy red fruits, menthol, savory herbs and refreshing minerality. A well balanced wine that has it all

Another bottle. Similar notes as before though this came off as bit easier and fruitier than previous bottle, almost more like a 2015. Perhaps just a stage in its life. Lots of room to develop and get more complex here.

This is a tremendous bojo. Brett free, fortunately. On the nose, it starts off with typical bright and tart red fruit notes, like cranberry/raspberry. It evolves after 15 minutes of so in the glass to reveal an herbal side. A little bit of tomato leaf, but also some other herbal aspect I can't quite place.
There's good body to this wine, a little more than you'd expect from a classic styled cru bojo. The tannins are quite soft even though this is still very young. Pretty long finish, excellent acidity. Tastes like a classic cru bojo with good, but not overpowering body and a slight bit of non-bretty funk. I am a big fan of this wine and am very pleased I picked a couple up for under 30.

A little funky on nose. Fresh with abundant cherry/red fruit and well placed acid, but also some nice mineral and meaty notes. Great with bratwurst and sauerkraut. I have one more that I will keep a few years but i thought it was drinking well now.

Much more open than 1yr back. Brett on opening but it blew away in about 30mins revealing some delicate and harmonious red and black fruits with a finishing of green fresh cut grass notes that does not let you forget its a young gamay. These are value wines that I am looking forward to for years to come.

Red berries, low tannins, a hint of flowers, a herby green note (a little stemmy?). Not particularly funky or barnyardy at all. Easy-drinking but not as much wow as my last bottle.

Slightly cloudy ruby. Camphor, black cherry, and loads of soil. Medium weight with the added textural layer that distinguishes Foillard from most other cru Beaujolais. Cooler flavor profile with the green elements leading, but fantastic mid-palate of bitter cherry, blood orange, and earth. Strong acidity and slightly grainy tannin mean a youthfully tart finish that could still use a few years to soften. Mind's eye Gamay that was cleaner than the early bottles I tried last year.
Even more complex, filled out, and spicy the next day.

On day 1 clear brett in nose upon opening and too much. Excellent mouth feeling. Refreshing clear lingering red berries. Great balance. Day 2. Nose more classic Gamay with red berries, herbs and the notable banana. Not as clear a red fruit on day 2, but with clear herbs and almost a bit tobacco. Great balance again. Decent qpr

Tasty with crunchy red fruits, herbs and florals. Great acid, tannin and balance. Would give a higher score if it didn't have some brett. Even with the slight brett, it's a great qpr

Uber fresh crushed berry fragrance with just the slightest hint of Brett in the background. The palate has that young Morgon icy edge at first. With air, the nose becomes more floral, just lovely, and the palate really bursts with fresh, clean, cool fruit. So light, yet seemingly layered and interesting too. Very nice.

Slight brett on the nose but does not detracts itself from the beautiful aromatics of fresh dark red currants, raspberries, violets and spices. A good mouthful of medium flavor dark red fruits, vibrant acidity with a lush texture that terminates in a delicious finish that shows a touch of granite minerals. A quality and highly drinkable bojo.

I've had a bunch of these; not certain why this is my first note. It's only fabulous, and better on the second day. Maybe my favorite gamay source. Complex and deeply satisfying, crunchy fruit. So versatile. Highly recommended!

The nose is dark and concentrated but at the same time a very nuanced and youthful. Dark berries, herbal notes, violet, green pepper, wet rock , quite a clear leather.
The wine is medium-bodied and surprisingly rich and complex. Dark berries, violet, light pepper, discreet minerality, shy toasted spices and dry oak. Good acidity and fairly strong tannins. Very nice structure.
Multi-dimensional, tight, juicy and long lingering after taste is a second to none.

Quick decant and 30 mins later this is soaring away. Wild strawberries and a funkiness on the nose like the leather interior of an old car. A lovely fruit acid balance that makes it really moreish. The aromatics carry all the way through. Beaujolais at its best.

Pale ruby. Barnyard, fresh red berries, citrus. On palate it has mid weight, high acidity, delivers loads of fruits from citrus, tropical to wild black and res berries. Zesty. Expressive like a mixed fruit punch with some depth. It could age but perhaps it is already expressing so well now.

So much value, tastes like big big Cote de nuits! You get earthy vibes with cherry, berries and a very delicious acidity but a bit more "meatiness" in the texture.
21-29 euros in France is absurd, when you pay 150-200 euros in Denmark (when they are not sold out).
This bottle is cleaner than last with more upfront fruit - a mix of intense, sweet, cruched rasp- and strawberries. Quite fresh but still oh so soft and silky. Very well balanced. Medium + length. Very yummy, if not overly complex. Held up ok on day two but lost some of that delicious, fresh fruit feeling
Loved this bottle! Better than last. Bottle variation? Everyone says to cellar these but the primary fruit is so lovely I can't see that paying of. Sure, it will evolve into something different, but better?

Superb. Dense, deep at moment, but incredible material here, with energy, minerality, and an earthy, Pinot-like quality. A bit of brett on first 5 minutes but quickly cleared up. Give this 2-3 years to rest at least.

P&p; best with 90+ minutes of air in the bottle, getting more expressive and pungent. Darkish fruit and flowers with spice and earth, pungent, Pinotish/Foillardish. Nice and fresh on the palate, with good acidity. Moderate tannins. Drinking well. Good stuff.

After the incredibly delicious 2014 Courcelette, I had assumed that the Cote du Py would be similarly accessible and elegant now while we awaited more complexity with age. Instead, the floral perfume of the former was shadowed by, in the Cote du Py, youthful brash acid, animal scents , and a racy overall profile that screams for more time. It was still delicious and excellent, but not yet in balance.. 2014 may be the best vintage ever for Beaujolais, so this very fine bottle deserves a look in a year.

Clearly a good vintage for Foillard's Cote du Py. Cherry, cherry stone, red berries, Provençal herbs, pine needles, dusty minerals and a touch of funk. I like the acidity here - gives good definition but remains elegant without sharpness. While worth a try now, this is still pretty tight and probably should be put away for 3-4 years. I reckon this has the stuffing to drink well for a long time to come.

First day, a whiff of some fruit then strong acidity and strucuture. Let it rest for day 2: more approachable with a nice earthy nose, but still quite tight. This is very tight right now. It does not have the full fruit flavor fun and pleasure that you get sometimes with young cote du py. Instead it is structured, some tannins and huge acidity. I will drink 13, 11 and 12 before 14 for sure.

12.5% - No formal note. Generous fruit, candied raspberry, cranberries, redcurrant lifted by violet notes and a steady wet stone rock like minerality. This bottle shines more than the one I had 6-7 months ago. Foillard's magic touch works as usual. Sheer pleasure!

PnP. Just enough of a hint of brett to make it earthy and interesting. Once those traits blew off what remained was balanced dusty red fruit that was fresh without being overly tart. This producer will always have a place at my Thanksgiving table. Outstanding.

I'm such a fan of this wine in general and this vintage is no let-down with classic wild strawberries that tiny hint of Bret and lovely almost garrigues-like aromatics and wrapped up with trademark freshness and drinkability. I do think the 2013 has more drive, density and energy than the 14 at this stage. Everyone is talking about this vintage in Beaujolais though so I'm hoping this reveals itself to be a classic!

Tasted over 2 days - pretty consistent on both days (vacuvin'd and stored in fridge overnight). As others have noted, a little brett on the nose and palate. I'm not fond of brett at all, but it was not so pronounced to ruin it for me. Other than that, very attractive Morgon, with sappy fruit, some gamey flavors, with good depth and balancing acidity.

Dinner @ Poltergeist. On its own quite delicate with smoky but sweetish cherries, blueberries, minerals and a bit drying tannins. Then came the food. Fantastic match both to a Asian spiced duck dish as well as the soft tortilla tacos with beef and heaps of coriander. The food really pulled an unbelievable juiciness and depth out of the wine. Very exciting, and impeccable choice by the somm (who had been given carte blanche). I would say 90p pnp and on its own and 92-93 p when paired with the food.

From 750: somewhat disappointed given the reputation of this wine ( the producer and importer as well) Tasted a bit flat, perhaps lacking in acidity. Great nose, but hollow on the palate. The 2009 of this wine was much better and the 2014 Michel Guignier Morgon viellies vignes blows this away for less $$. Finish a little short as well. A nice wine, but perhaps not worth the tariff.

Ready to go straight from pnp. Lively, deep nose of dark berries, fresh herbs, undergrowth, lots of crushed stones and minerality in a very aromatic style. Also some funk and stable notes in the background, very vin nature so to speak. Completely disarming nose. Solid structure, fine tannins and medium acidity, young but very much approachable. Dark berries of excellent quality and lots of crushed stones and minerality. The finish is a bit dirtier with more funk and some animalistic notes. No surprises here, well made and the drinkability is through the roof, allthough I expect greater things will come for those who have the disciplin to wait 3-5 years or so.

Decanted and drunk over 3 hours. Clear, dark ruby with a slight translucent rim. Legs. Nose: Pronounced brett (especially initially), red cherries, fresh roses, bloody meat, iron and bell pepper. Palate: High acidity, medium body, medium(+) flavour intensity of red cherries, dark cherries, raspberries, fresh animal, iron mineral and a little herbs and vanilla. Medium(-) silky tannins. Medium(+) finish. This is a well-structured wine, with lots going on. A good example of Gamay done traditionally and to a high standard. However, of some concern is the brett, which was too overpowering; this augurs some uncertainty as to how the wine will evolve over the next few years. Worth re-exploring at some point.

Drank over 3 hours. Colour was pale, purple. Nose was clean, pronounced intensity with funky aromas of brett, red cherries, candy, eucalyptus, bell pepper, animal. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium bodied, low, soft tannin, with flavours of fresh, ripe, succulent red fruits, cranberries, sour cherries, red fruits, vanilla. Medium+ finish. It was interesting to note how the wine evolved over the 3 hours of drinking. Certainly wild and wow. Very very good quality. Aged for 6-9 months in used oak barrels, vineyard farmed organically. Vinification methods were traditional nouvea. Unfiltered, unfined and minimal use of sulphur. From the slopes of Côte du Py, this hill was an extinct volcano with soils of Schist, Granite and Manganese which probably gave this Gamay an unique expression.

Wine Wednesday (Free & Easy) (Extra Space): Tasted blind. Drank after 3 hours of air in the decanter. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is pronounced, with aromas of bretty animal, leather, red flowers, red fruits, black cherries, red bell peppers. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (12.5%), medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of tanned leather, animal, dark red cherries, black cherries, plums, peppers. Long finish. Very good quality. Some real solid concentration here on the palate for a Beaujolais. This will age well. Aim to re-explore again in 3 years. Brett-haters should steer clear of this.

Young Morgon (Mostly 2014's) (SF Wine Trading Company): Darker color than the Corcelette. This too showed a bretty aspect, but here there was deep black cherry fruit on the nose as well. Medium weight, very flowing and sappy with typical fine Gamay acidic snap at the end. Soft earth and tannins, great texture, very classy and very Burgundian. I'd be more confident about its future if it were cleaner, but at this point, no funkiness comes through in the mouth. With that caveat, it should prove to be a great Foillard.

Beautiful nose of succulent cherries, red spices and chalky minerals. Quite crisp on the palate but also full with excellent intensity of ripe cherry and cranberry fruit. Finishes with real mineral crunch with notes of chalky minerals and red spice. One of the best vintages of this wine that I've ever had and I'd really like to age this for a bit in the cellar.

Elegant and refined as usual but seemed to have less fruit concentration than usual at this early stage. Even the '12s which is supposed to be a lesser vintage that I've opened so far had more fruit exuberance. I can't wait to revisit in a few months. Popped and poured, deep purple/ruby hue, quite youthful. Fragrant nose of under-ripened berries, fresh parsley, root vegetables, potting soil and an impression of minerals like crushed stones. Notes of sulphur and a some subtle florals as well. Medium body. Finesse-driven, powerfully subtle flavors of raspberry, toast, menthol and iron-laden minerals on the palate. Moderate acidity and smooth yet slightly chalky tannins on the close. As is to be expected from archetypal Foillard, the 2014 Morgon Côte du Py defines elegance through balance and reaffirms how special Gamay can be; should develop beautifully with mid-term cellaring.
Quick comment: Probably the best vintage for this since 2009.

Followed over two days with no decline in quality. A bit of farm-funk when opened, but this disappeared quickly. Lovely fruit, silky texture and invigorating acidity. I like the earthy dimension too. There's also depth and frame, and I have no doubt that this will develop well.
As far as first impressions go, I think this might even be a fraction better than the excellent '13. Such a versatile wine that seems both effortlessly elegant and serious at the same time.

New Jean Foillard Releases (SF Wine Trading Company): Light ruby core. Sigh-some brett here as well. Medium weight, great texture. Lush, crystallized red and black fruit without obvious sweetness. Zippy acidity on the back end which keeps things in check. Not the most mineral Foillard, but so sinuous and vinous with its great fruit. As always, probably worth laying down some, but this amount of brett definitely gives me pause and raises uncertainty about how this will develop. On the other hand, the one other bottle I've tried was not similarly affected.

Even ruby. Wow, what explosive aromatics of black cherry and soil. Fleshier than the vast majority of cru Beaujolais with suppleness and alluring texture. The depth and creaminess of fruit are incredible yet buttressed by excellent underlying structure. For me, this will likely turn out to be the best Côte du Py since the 2009, and at this age, the 2014 is fresher and less overtly heavy than that wine. Amongst the best 2014's I've tried so far along with the Dutraive wines.

Totally open on the nose as well as on the palate. Extremely charming and quite richly fruited, with that silky texture you hope to find in an outstanding premier cru burgundy. A lot more accessible than the '13 was at this stage, yet so promising for the future.

A step up from the 2014 Cuvée Corcelette, in my opinion. Tart cranberry and cherry, with dusty crushed stones. Lively acidity and a persistent finish. Drinks nicely now, but oh so young and unevolved. A few years in the cellar would serve this well.

Really very open right now, not dissimilar to the 2013 which was crazy good. Unlike the 2014 Lapierre, this is so good now I can't imagine laying off it. This has the same silky, velvety character that makes Foillard's wines great. There's a great peppery note as well, that's really quite nice. This, frankly, is something I want to drink everyday.

I would love to try it again, as I know this wine can exhibit drastic variations in the bottle with time.

starts all sour red pruneaux before gathering structure and confidence.
________
24 hours later, resealed from the fridge and drove across town, I could notice no sign of oxidation or decay.

The palate is dominated by dark red fruit, again a hint of sous bois, nice acidity and medium length palate. There is still the structure and savoury flavour profile of maceration carbonique, but it is more in the background compared to when it was young. Very nice wine, as Foillard's wines most often are:)

Expressive and initially open fragrance: cherry, marjoram, milk chocolate, and an almost white wine-like side note: peach. On the palate, based on juice and minerality, with mild tannin, which nevertheless gives strength and length, finesse elegance and very tactile minerality.

Delicious and succulent red cherry fruit with crisp acidity and a real aliveness. Really tangy and tasty on the finish with good complexity and hints of violet spice and chalky minerals. A wonderful Beaujolais that should continue to evolve for a number of years.

Decent qpr

I do think the 2013 has more drive, density and energy than the 14 at this stage. Everyone is talking about this vintage in Beaujolais though so I'm hoping this reveals itself to be a classic!

12.5% - Hazy, med ruby with a hint of purple / clean, med+ intensity - redcurrant, cranberry, cassis bud, lilas, mineral edge with that typical wet pebble rock / dry, med+ refreshing acidity, med- body, med intensity, persistent length. Elegant and refined as usual but seemed to have less fruit concentration than usual at this early stage. Even the '12s which is supposed to be a lesser vintage that I've opened so far had more fruit exuberance. I can't wait to revisit in a few months.
This one seemed to have gained some weight on day 2 with more fruit upfront and nice chalky finish. 91+

Fidèle à son style "naturel" et doté d'un fruit exubérant et d'une grande finesse en bouche, impossible d y résister

Beautiful Beaujolais. Nobody does it like Foillard. Full of dark fresh fruits. There's some concord grape note in it. Very dry but it's there. Acid is medium-high. It is Juicy and light but persistent. Amazing work.

Lovely stuff. Followed over two days. Serious cherry on night 2. At this point, I prefer the Corcelette but we shall see how they evolve.

Dark, rustic, bright. Stony finish. This wine is like the Golden Retriever of wines: fun, transparent, no nonsense, non cerebral.

Delicious wine. Clear red fruit - silky character. Low tannins, very elegant and drinkable, more so than the also excellent 2013. Raspberry, cherry, strawberry, violet - a little licorice.

Just like you want your Foillard! Silky, quite dark fruit with some funk. Long and stony aftertaste. Impeccable balance and perfect to drink at this early stage.

Bought & Drank Bay Grape. Still very young but needed to open one to have a frame of reference for future bottles.
