Biased for the vintage, but the 1990 d’Yquem is awesome today. Sweet peach, pineapple, butterscotch, honey, and crème brûlée. The sweetness is balanced nicely with the acidity. Amazing length. Definitely a long life ahead.

"Rousseau is for drinking" (La Trompette): Based on my scores, this keeps getting better and better! Deep and creamy yet also seamless and elegant, with enough vanilla biscuit and toffee apple to make a delicious dessert wine, and a sense of easy poise that made it simply great to drink as well. Well-evolved in a soft, honeyed register, and without the aggressive marmalade or cloying spice often found on Sauternes of this age; if I were to be picky, I might observe that it was almost *too* well-balanced!

Fantastic — my I’m a newbie to d’Yquem, having had only 5 others… for me the 2001 is supreme, but 1990 is still great and the ideal way to end an evening. Gave it about 30min of air and served at 52 degrees

1st of 24, pnp, perfect cork and level - darkening bright gold; nicely spiced, honeyed fruit, some marmalade and butterscotch, fresh surprisingly and very complex; fullish, v long and persistent but much younger and apparently less concentrated than appearance would imply with palate some way behind nose, attractive balance, relatively early days and with much upside, 30+ years. VF (18.5)........I expected more and greater weight of fruit based on a couple of bottles I had in the noughties when it was massive and slightly OTT; currently I'd put this behind the 89 and 88.

Beautiful golden hue - intoxicating nose of orchard fruit, oranges, nuts, some citrus fruit and peel. Intense palate with great verve and lift; long and lush; young and maybe too young. Still holding back but awesome.

(Y'quem) The '90 was truly thrilling wine with pefectly balance between botrytis and acidity. Wonderful texture and explosive inner mouth aromas. Stunning finish and great delineation.
