Don & The Shrimpheads (Craig & Nita's Place): Light gold color. Drank a glass over 45 minutes. More bold than the Comte before it, just a touch of oxidativeness creates a different vibe; apple, quince, ginger and sour dough on the nose. The palate is bigger and layered, with apricot jam, Grand Mernier, lemon confit, apple peel, subtle cherry, subtle toast. 94+pts.

Home drinking with improvised tapas/pintxos with my favorite anchovies - was supposed to be a 166/2010 base according to my Cellartracker inventory. I am not worse off for the retailer or auction's house mistake as the 168 iteration showed amongts the best in a recent vertical I attended. It has all the flavours you associate with masterfully executed Champagne blend whether the bruised apples from the PN, apricot from the Meunier etc... It is all the Champagnes in one! How everything is woven together into a spherical package is extarordinary. The Grandes Maison's best response to the best Grower offerings! There is amazing midpalate richness and yet it is perfectly countenanced by the drive and acidity. Very sapid and long on the finish.

Best bottle (Belsers Restaurant, Nürtingen): Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux From Magnum. Clear medium golden color. Beautiful fine, deep, complex and smoky nose with fine yeast notes. Lovely. On the palate fresh as a daisy, beautifully balanced, elegant, nice tension, fine mousseux, long and lingering. What a great start into the evening! 94-95

kɹʌɡ wɪθ dʌɡ (Chicago, IL): Really liked this tonight -- perhaps more than the others at the table. It's juicy and fleshy, and very much a heart-on-its-sleeve kind of Krug, but there's something really drinkable and easy-going about this that I really liked. And I think there might be even more there, given the fullness on the palate, that this will be one of the better editions to age for the long haul. I'm pretty happy I have a nice stash of this, though I won't be opening mine for a few more years yet.

Very good. At least my sixth time since release and this was by far the most approachable, most complete wine of the bunch. It's been 3 1/2 yrs since the last one and part of me was bracing for it being too young, but instead we were treated to a superb showing. Maybe they're all ready, or maybe it was (positive) bottle variation. I'll happily take the win. A very good future for le 168eme. 12,5% abv. highly recommended

Our Annual Champagne Tasting: My bottle. This assertively followed the 2008 Cristal. An excellent Grande Cuvée. Very yeasty. Energetic and powerful but polished. Ginger, apricot, jasmine, sweet brioche.

Base 2012. Very floral on the nose with yellow fruits. Very full mouthfeel, creamy attack, fine oxidative touch, toasted and grilled almonds dominate a beautiful, just emerging complexity. Great crystal balance. Vibrant finish on the razor's edge.

Thanksgiving Wimps 2023 - Alfred Stieglitz Table (La Trompette): "I've got a controversial idea" the sommelier said...serve this at the end of the meal instead of the beginning. I was a little worried that the palate would be too fatigued then - no need. Good lordy this has energy - real zip, a certain tightness, and still some substance. Someone compared it to the 164 - well if the 164 brings the 08 power, this brings the 12 lightness and zip. Thanks for an excellent drink and something to be truly thankful for.

Krug tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Glass: Riedel Superleggero Champagne From Magnum. Clear, medium golden color. Nose already open and quite mature, some nice red fruit, brioche. Already open for business! Beautiful tension, nice pressure, very balanced and nice energy. More red than yellow fruit, some citrus notes, fine mousseux, long. A bit better (riper) than 170eme. 93-94

blind My first impression in the nose was Clos du Mesnil 2006 or Comtes de Champagne 2012. Some waffles and lemon zest. Very fresh and elegant. No roasted aromas as e.g. 171eme edition. Very nice. 95-96

Really complex Champagne, as it is usually the case with Krug's Grand Cuvée. The bouquet offers fresh, primary fruit with mainly stone fruit, some lemon zest and nicely roasted hazelnuts and some brioche developing. It's a lot of fun to drink now, but I guess it will probably even become more complex with additional bottle age. Just a great champagne.

From magnum. Yeasty/brioche aromas, apples, minerals, some lemon and a touch of herbs. Rich palate with tart apples, lemons, minerals, yeast/brioche. Medium body. Nice lemony finish. The wine is still coiled and young from this magnum. Has a long life ahead and will be fabulous when ready. Maybe another decade for that to happen? This is still delicious but would wait if possible. 92+

A Ledbury Dinner: Broadly consistent with a bottle a couple of years ago, but now fully integrated this is typical Krug with savoury weight, density but plenty of energy. Somewhat outclassed alongside the Cristal but this is an excellent drink in its own right. ****

Krug masterclass with Manuel Reman, President Krug (Pall Mall 67 SG): From a magnum. Pale gold, pronounced aroma of lemon with floral notes at the end, lots going on here with a structure, complex palate with hint of chalk. Richer with notes of lemon, lots of tension similar to 170.

Krug tasting at 67PM: From magnum. First real Krug of the tasting. Power but with tension and focus. Sweet house style but balanced with precise citrus fruit. Best wine of the flight today for me in the sense that it was the most ready. President of Krug said that there will be no 2012 vintage because it all went into reserve wines, but let’s see after the 2008 fiasco.
Champagne Cornucopia - DP vs Krug MV (Chez D): A little more confected than the DP it sat beside, more candied lemon to it - but still excellent stuff. Interesting to compare this to the last time I tried this wine - I suspect they showed similarly, as with so many of these, I would have been thrilled to spend a good part of an evening engaging with this.

I had not tried this version previously, i will try again in 4-5 years. Good top note of lemony acidity but this came across more as big and obvious, needs time to develop complexity and to come together.

A few days in Napa with fellow CT'r Cristal2000: A nice glass of 168 to start out before sampling a couple of Harlans at the estate. Who could complain?! I do prefer the 169 (base 2013) to this more rounded 168 (2012 base). Hey, look who’s complaining now?! What's wrong with me....

From 375 ml. From memory. Took about 1 hour after popping the cork for the wine to open up. Rich but also lifted brioche, just ripe apples, herbs, minerals. Complex but undergirded by nice acids. Typical broad mouthfeel. Didn't seem to have as much verve and energy as 164 eme from 375 bottle that I had 3 yrs ago. This 168 eme is clearly young and needs more time. But frankly, it's also delicious now. 92+

Beat the Dom Perignon 2012 (Medlar, London SW10): Single blind. Not showing that much on the nose save for lemony fruit with some lift. There was tons of midpalate energy that went on and on, and whilst not being the most complex, or even trying too hard, I found a certain charm to this, hence making it my WOTN. I also would never have guessed it was a Krug! From Jancis glass.

Single blind. Slightly gold colour. Richer and rounder than the 08 comtes and dp 12 that followed but without their presence and energy. Still a good showing. I guessed the L-P Cuvee Perceval but turned out to be the krug 168. Interestingly, more than half the group got these two switched around and the former costs a third of the latter…!

Beat the DP 2012? (Medlar, Chelsea): Mid straw. Slightly reductive, clean nose that was obviously that of a very dry and sophisticated wine. Lovely balance on the palate, clean and green, with a brisk quinine-bitter finish.
I guessed Comtes 08 but it turned out to be the Krug. It seemed less full-bodied than I remembered from trying it around 18 months ago. Good, but didn't make it into either my or the group's top five.

Heavy yeasty notes, bright lemon with a ton of energetic, tiny bubbles and a medium-long finish. This is the first Krug I've had, and it's really nice, though I think I prefer a champagne with less richness.

Golden colored, medium-full bodied quite rich, nicely integrated and balanced with layers of fruit apple, pear, toasted nuts and hints of pineapple with what one pundit called 'pie crust and biscuit' another 'crème pâtissière' dominant, and another referred to 'freshly baked bread', with lively backbone of acidity on the finish. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2023/01/family-celebration-dinner-smoked-ribs.html

Nose: Coconut, brioche, sponge cake, almond, raisin, peach Notes: a decent amount of acidity accompanied by a big and structured palate, Krug NV can easily be one of my favorite NVs for its complexity and intense aftertaste. Tasted from a half bottle. My particular bottle felt very young and I would imagine this could well live for another 10-15 years without much problem although it is equally delightful to drink now. As I opened this in the restaurant as an aperitif so the only regret I have is that I didn't breathe it enough before finishing the bottle. Drink: now + Rating: 91

A lost Friday afternoon gathering – CDPs, Chave, Schrader and etc. (Q by Peter Chang - Bethesda, Maryland): Expressive nose displaying generous sweet yellow fruit, lemon curd, apple, apple pie, brioche, smoke, sweet spices and limestone. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of generous sweet yellow fruit, generous fine mousse, rich and sweet, good balance and precision, bright acidity, strong mineral, and a long ripe yellow citrus fruit and baked apple driven finish with brioche at the end. This is drinking beautiful, always very consistent.

The 2002 vintage bottle I had especially ordered hadn’t arrived yet, but thankfully we had 1 left of the 168th GC (2012 base wine). Poured into Zalto universals and paired with caviar entree and crab cake main. This was the most open of the case we have drank this year and the airtime in the cooler before we sat down helped. Powerful lemon and white flower nose, some matchstick, which along with the lemon, if tasted blind and leaving aside the bubbles, would have placed as a young Puligny (Domaine Leflaive Pucelles? Or perhaps Folatieres?). In time, biscuit notes and a hint of game meat and pretzel bread. Closed up at the last glass. Lot’s of acidity and lime fruit. This is drinkable now with air in the right glass but better leave it another 3-5 years. 94/100.

Krug Lunch (7x GC, 7x Vintage, 3x CdM, 1x CdA): Seven Grand Cuvees: 157, 163, 164, 167, 168, 169 and 170th. No surprise that the better base vintages showed best. The 157th (95 pts) showed most round and complete due to the extended age. The 164 (95 pts), 168 and 169th (both 94+ pts) all show good substance and superb acidic spine for graceful ageing. The 164th, from magnum, has an elegance to it which is above all others. The 170th (90pts), 167th (92 pts) and 163th (93+ pts) seem a bit leaner compared to the others and not all of them will be very long-lived iterations. But this tasting showed clearly, that even the lesser vintages of Grand Cuvees easily need minimum 10 years after disgorgement to start to truly shine.
TN: Not overly expressive nose. Only with time some hints of citrus and minerality shine through. More open on the palate. All about the citrus fruit in the center, seasalt minerality, some nutty hints. With time full blown nutty, buttery aromas complementing the picture. Already layered and with very high precision. Very round and harmonious but with the acidity still quite pronounced Fine mousse. All in all, quite promising, with good substance and a structural frame and this ultra high energy for long ageing. 94 pts today with more upside in the future.
Decanting: This needs a bit of air.

Krug Tasting (Memories Bad Ragaz): Krug tasting hosted by a merchant and collector. Main takeaways: 1/ Clos du Mesnil and the 1996 back vintage were show-stoppers, 2/ 164 was in a different league of the Grande Cuvée line-up, 3/ a general feature and maybe signature for Krug for me was the fine integration of autolytic notes into a balance of fruit and mineral notes. The textures tend to be soft with just a splash of cream and structures built around acidity. 4/ Clos du Mesnil towers over the vintage and GCs in terms of precision, complexity and elegance.
Tasting note: Base 2012. Cépages 52% PN, 35% Ch, 13% PM. 6 years on lees, degorged Q2 2019. Another step up in intensity compared to 169 and 170 with fine toast notes, pear fruit, hints of orange juice and mineral notes of smoke. The palate showed crisp acidity and a slightly creamy texture, further elevated by mid-palate density.

"The mind is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Chicago, IL): 119004. I didn't see the label on this, so actually guessed it was a 169eme -- this bottle felt different from another bottle of the same release a few days ago. There was more acidity and brightness, and as with most of the more recent Krug releases, a lack of the typical Krug richness and more focus on the acidity. But of course, at the end of the day, Krug is Krug.

Ulysse Collin dinner at Shaw's (Chicago, IL): 119004. Some at the table preferred this to the 164eme, but I found this to be a bit washed out in comparison. This just didn't have the potency that the older wine had. The fruit is sweeter and the wine is overall more subtle, with the Kruggy elements dialled down some. A nice bottle of wine, of course, but just not playing at the same level as the 164eme tonight. Perhaps in four more years?

I've been a lucky frequent guest of Dave & Desi D's & recently for a feast at Big Al & Janelle's. So, we had both couples over tonight for some trout & Linguini Di Frutti Nita, I & Joe cooked up paired & w/ a couple champagnes, a couple Chablis & a couple red Burgs.
This is stunning Champagne. I'm squarely a fan of the Krug Muliti vintage champagnes. They are exactly where I'll hang my hat with Krug. That said, I've never tasted the Clos du Mesnil and would love to. I appreciate the extra freshness & zip of 168 & 169 vs. the vintage Krugs with addl age. The 168 has amazing concentration & intensity. The fruit is about as pure as a pure gets. Wonderful stuff! Thanks Dave D! 96+ My WOTN!

Light gold color. From 375ml. Split bottle over an hour. Had this for our picnic lunch on Oberg Mtn with the Fall colors around us. This was in good shape, our picnic stems don't do it justice. Still, a fine drink; brisk and taut with tart lemon and chalk, but a distinctly creamy texture and mid palate. Maybe a little introverted, but the conditions may have been a factor too.

This 375 was so different than the 750 I drank a year ago, it’s hard to believe it’s the same wine. From a half bottle, it’s very expressive and open. Lemon cream, fresh apricot, ginger snaps, toast and pastry. Initially a very aggressive bead. Nice acidic cut balances the density and extract. It’s hard to resist in this format. To me, no winery does half bottles as well as Krug.

Krug GC 162-169eme (Chicago, IL): 119004. Not particularly memorable, but of the higher-acid style like the 163eme or 166eme. More weight and depth than the 166eme, but quite similar. This has always come across as an average bottling to me without anything really standing out in any particular fashion. I'd be more inclined to hold onto this than open it in the near term.

2012 base. Taken to a chinese restaurant. Lot’s of citrus fruit and lemon. The second and last glasses were best. Nose of orange blossom and granny smith apple and a slightly broader palate of toasted bread as it opened. However, this seems still a baby and not near as ready as the 165th (2009 base) I had a few months ago. 92-93.

Krug 168 Edition. Vesentlig rikere enn 169 for noen dager siden. Fortsatt på den unge siden: Litt uforløst på duft. Bra med power i munn. Konsentrert med flott frukt. Dette er deilig, men hakket for tight. Besitter alle elementer for et lang liv. Meget lang elektrisk finish. 93p

Opened for an hour but it needed another half hour to really sing. Evolved from yuzu lemon and white flowers to a heady mix of orchard fruit and toasted brioche bread with a nougat finish that went on and on rising and falling with incredible persistence. I have seen some notes where 375 comes out singing but these 750s are just starting to open and need air. 94-95

Stowed this bottle to Cabo and brought to Suviche for dinner at the One and Only. A beautiful sunset added to our enjoyment on this wine along with a mother humpback and her pup breaching. This was a evening we will not soon forget.
This bottle of Krug Cuvee offered nice acidity along with tension. A crisp finish.
It’s overwhelmingly complex: sweet pastry, baked apple, smoke, almond, orange blossom, and chalk. It has that bittersweet note you get when almond frangipane burns, which is to say divine. It’s beguiling on the nose and then smooth on the palate. The finish goes on forever. It’s a gorgeous wine.

Birthday Drinks (Casa Esperanza): This was a fabulous bottle of the 168, drinking spectacularly well on the night for some reason or another. It had a beautiful nose - cream, apples and minerality, all drifting out of the glass in a lovely melange. The palate struck me as being in perfect balance, with ripe citrus acidity and a lovely, fine mousse wrapped around a powerful yet elegant core of apple fruit and more ripe lemons, all winding their way into super long finish that showed a burgeoning trace of minerality. What incredible length here. This was richness without weight, and power without effort - a Champagne of simply wonderful wonderful balance, grace and beauty. Still super fresh and youthful, but this was so well-integrated that it drank like a dream on the day. Best of the few bottles I have had yet; maybe still lacking in a touch of complexity, but this one has its peak still some years ahead of it. Lovely stuff - this is a great Krug Grande Cuvee.

At Paradise Teochew with Darren and Shangying. Absolutely lovely. Based on the 2012 vintage, this is one of the best young Krug Grande Cuvées I have had for a long time. The nose was lovely, pure Krug, with really attractive notes of biscuits and cream, a touch of toast, and then lovely fragrant aromas of red apples, sweeter melon fruit, all this traced with a bit of minerality and just a little hint of floral perfume. A truly wonderful nose - really alluring. The palate was just lovely too. Blessed with wonderfully integrated acidity, a really fine mousse, and beautiful purity and balance, this danced across the mouth in tremendously poised flavours of apples and white peach, some sweet lemons, resolving into cream and then a delicate line of minerality that pulled away into the distance. Intensity without effort and power without weight, this was a tremendous Champagne that kept getting better and better in the glass.

Light gold color. PN52 C35, PM13. 2012 Base, oldest from 1996, Disg Fall 2018. Drank a glass plus on Gillan's Beach over looking Mahaulepu Cliff Trail. Gorgeous view as we sipped this charmer. Plenty of ocean air bolstered by the brisk sea breeze around us; plenty of brine with lemon and citrus fruits, creme brulee, nougat, chalk and light toast
Champagne lunch at Wok15: Most of us managed to arrive at Krug for this when guessing, and by extension it was quite obvious this was a 168. Denser and more powerful than the 169 tasted last month, the rich, toasty notes were more prominent and immediate. Not quite ready for primetime but still good enough to be my second favourite overall.

Popped the cork and let the bottle open at 55 degrees for approximately 90 minutes before pourng rhe first glass. Consumed at approximately 55 degrees over 1 hour out of a Grassl Liberte stem.
2012 is the primary base vintage for this wine. The nose was of lemon with some toasted notes. The palate was of citrus fruit and stone fruit with a hint of tropical fruit. There were undertones of honey and brioche. The wine had bright acidity.
I'm sure it will age beautifully but don't be afraid to pop the cork in the near future, as it is drinking brilliantly, especially with some air before consumption!
My score is a 94+

Small Bordeaux gathering (Clarity - Vienna, Virginia): Beautifully mature complex nose displaying sweet white and yellow fruit, apple, baked apple, lemon curd, marzipan, a hint of sherry, burnt sugar, oyster shell, brioche and limestone. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of concentrated white and yellow fruit, very fine generous mousse, rich but nicely balanced, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a seamless long ripe white and yellow fruit driven finish. The oxidative note and marzipan reminds me Selosse initial a bit. Now that initial is trading above $300, this represents a much better option for me. Very complete champagne.

Dinner at Jade Palace with the Popiah Party (Jade Palace, Forum Galleria, Singapore): My first bottle of the 168, which is built around the excellent 2012 vintage. This was very nice indeed. It took awhile to get going, but was delicious when it did. I loved the nose here; it was subtle but inviting, with notes of cream and almonds, apples and light floral notes, alongside a little touch of brioche just emerging at the sides of the bouquet. A rather perfumed young Krug Grande Cuvee I thought. The palate was lovely too. There was a nice depth and an effortless sense of power in its flavours of apples and lemons on the attack, but the wine was also really well-shaped by a fine mousse and lovely acidity, and so full of dry extract and minerality that it always felt noble and quite elegantly structured. Lovely finish too, with a long trail of stony mineral that lingered beautifully on the back-palate. Lovely stuff, especially after an hour or two in the glass. This did feel like it was not quite firing on all cylinders yet though, with plenty left in reserve still - unsurprising for a youngish Grande Cuvee. It will be even better after a few more years in the bottle.

Big Al & Janelle's Spanish Inspired Blowout (Big Al & Janelle's, St. Anthony, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass of 168 followed by a glass of 169. Tonight I found the lighter, crisp and more energetic 168 my preference with its lean style and bright minerals and fruits. Served blind - very mineral, very primary, lot of zip and zing making it a delightful aperitif style drinking champagne at this point in time. It's missing some depth at this present juncture, which Krug fans know will be a question of time. A champagne that deserves a decade or two in bottle and needs at least another 5 years.

Spectacular wine that really needs an hour to open up. Or you could leave it be for a decade or more. Toasted brioche, lemon curd, baking spice deliciousness.

Served alongside an '06 Taittinger Comtes. The Krug showed somewhat high-toned in comparison, with citrus, mineral and an almost herbal note. Very layered and precise on the palate. The Taittinger was my clear favorite tonight, with its richness and depth, but the Krug was also excellent, and no doubt has much more to show with time.
Patio Dining at Tilia on a Warm Fall Evening (Tilia, Mpls): Light gold color. Drank a glass over 45 minutes. This was really bready, with brioche, roasted nuts, apple, quince and chalk. Very lightly oxidative on the palate, with a lot of cutting chalk, apple, apple peel, hints of anise and great cutting acidity with notes of beeswax and lacquer. This bottle was more coiled and young than one from a 375ml recently. 93+ to 94pts.

This really caught my fancy tonight & proved a fabulous flight contrast in the most positive way w/ a serene '06 Comte. Youthfully & stylistically exuberant, yet beguiling with its sheer class & complexity. Truth be told, 6 times out of 10, I likely prefer this to Krug's vintage cuvees, largely because the NV is reliably fresher. Tonight this was bold as ever w/ concentration 2nd to none & inviting layers of citrus, minerality, toast and a orange rind top note. I was smitten tonight, even along side my often favorite glass of champagne, Comte. I need to own a few of these!

Served from a half bottle and still drinking remarkably well. Brioche, fresh honey, white stone fruits, and a blast of bright minerality. Tons of energy. Krug is Krug.

Great small bubbles, light yellow, citrus nose with spring flowers and the palate was lemon, brioche, pineapple, a hint of grapefruit and orange rind. Finishes with tart citrus and toast. Gave me everything I want from champagne.

Jason's 2005 Bordeaux at Noizé: Oof - lovely. Tightly coiled and delicious. After about an hour or so it seemed to fall apart a bit, for me, but other diners reported it being even more excellent an hour later. Proper kit and thanks to Jason for sharing.

Jason's 2005 dinner (Noize): Does everything you need it to do, and nothing more: delightfully balanced, filled the mouth, complex, with lime, ginger-flecked spice, butteriness and a certain savour, and then a long finish. A beautiful, compelling wine that seemed to have come on a long way since I last tried it nearly a year ago.

2005 Bordeaux (Noizé, London): Lovely nose, surprisingly open with a fresh bread aspect. Fine mousse. Tight on the attack initially and through the mid palate. Feels very young but there’s a density and underlying Krugosity that suggests everything is in place and will emerge as it relaxes. ***(*) but this melds nicely over an hour or so in the glass. ***(*) or **** with a quick decant.

Covolo's Champagne Campaign (Casa Covolo): Large scaled bouquet with notes of Creamy nougat, a touch of mustiness, and some yeasty-biscuit. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, fine bubbles. My 4/6 and the group's 4/6.

Pnp, served in white wine glases (at Bistro 59, Aalborg). Razor-sharp notes of citrus and high on acidity. Compared to the 167-edition, it is a notch higher in alcohol. Although not (yet?) embodying the gorgeous nutty notes of the 167-edition, this 168-edition seems to hold a particularly powerful potential for development - looking forward!

brioche, apples, citrus on the nose. Palate is fresh apples, citrus, a little creaminess and fullness. The finish is long with some complexity, and a little faint hint of truffles. Glad I have 2 more bottles as this will be stunning in a few years well worth seeking out to try and #giveanewwineago #burgundynick Understandably expensive I got mine from @laywheeler but available @fineandrarewines 92 points

While it’s more influenced by younger vintages at the moment, the back vintages are by no means overshadowed. The 168 drinks well now. Delicious, long and energetic. Better in a decade, but there’s no foul opening one now.

Method: from half-bottle; Grassl Mineralite; removed from fridge and opened 10 minutes in advance
Look: Medium gold; tons of strong, fine bubbles; note really any legs
Nose: Brown apple / baked apple, pie crust, quince, baking spice, light creek water
Palate: baked apple, baking spices, pear, light lemon pitch, (once it warms a bit) cream; long finish of gun smoke, light white pepper, lemon pitch; dry; medium- body; superfine medium+ strength bubbles that leave tongue tingling; medium+ acidity
Overall: Really great complexity, balance, and mouthfeel make this an excellent wine. I was deciding between 94 and 95 points. I think this is quite youthful, but not too young, and should improve very nicely with some cellaring.

Dinner at Osteria Langhe (Chicago, IL): 119004. Very solid bottle of Krug, probably in the middle of the pack as far as the relatively recent releases have gone. Very Krug-like with its bready, brioche qualities, as well as some baked apple. If I don't sound excited about this, that's just in the context of Krug -- every bottle of Krug is exciting by default.

Vice Versa weekend and dinner: A brighter showing than the last few bottles I’ve had – which I appreciate. Still, there is that slight oxidative characteristic that is indicative of all things Krug. Some love Krug for that exact flavor note. Others, like me, wish it was just a hair brighter and zippier and was sans that banana peel component that sometimes trespasses on the livelier citrus elements.

Min første Krug. Superkompleks på lukt. Toast, hasselnøtter og noe pære og sitron. Mer moden og rik i stilen enn andre champagner jeg har drukket. Samme komplekse bilde på smak med nøtter og brioche. Veldig lang. Would drink again :-)

Monumental wine. Tasted twice in the span of 6 months. Both times the wine showed well in the glass, but still a bit closed, even after some air time. As with every Krug, we will have to be patient and wait for this cuvée to show its full potential in a few years, if not more.

Definitely preferred this to the 167 which I felt unbalanced. This is obviously still young, yet approachable. Lots of bright, vibrant, citrus fruit at this stage. Will leave another 6 months before trying, but probably needed 3-5 years to really hit its stride. Drank to celebrate CTOS IPO.
Update: Wow. This really improved over night in the fridge. A lot more complexity. Lots more nuts and savoury notes on the nose.

Champagne & Sparklers (Calistoga): It tastes like Krug. It tastes like the 166 served next to it. It’s kinda smooth. It’s kinda bubbly. It’s kinda fresh. It’s kinda oxidative. It’s kinda Krug.
From magnum. I favored the 168 a tick more, mostly so because its service was a bit cooler. The 166 was served a little warmer than the 168, so the 166 came off slightly flatter. When given the chance to cool back down for a half-second, it came into better form and mirrored the 168. As with most Krug I’ve experienced, there is a slight oxidative note that carries an underlying plantain flavor my palate just has trouble getting down with. For those who love Krug, this will be, well… just like Krug.

A much better bottle than the one we had month ago and definitely a lot more expressive albeit still very young and patience will be rewarded massively. Round and with a lovely richness, nutty, biscuitty, soft yeasty and light honey. Needs a good 5 yrs frankly to hit full stride. 91-92 now

Krug 168ième. I drink Krug far to seldom. Rich nose with brioche, toast, chalk, smoke, nuts, intensely concentrated citrus, yellow baked apple, vanilla and mild spice. Lovely rich and concentrated palate of sweet citrus, apples, nuts, minerals, delicate pastry and spice. Tingling acidic fruit- and mineral-driven finish. Intense. Elegant. Delicious.

It may be fashionable to say that this is infanticide (2012 base), but the 168 is just so hugely, unashamedly enjoyable with its rich nose of Meyer lemon, kiwi, lime, custard, and brioche. It is absolutely decadent, but there’s no lack of commensurate acidity. For my taste, this will drink from now until… forever.

This wine had a lovely nose and lots of effervescence. It had a medium deep yellow center and offered up notes of egg custard, vanilla, citrus, and some stone.
In the mouth, this was light and creamy. While tasty, it was too light in inconsequential at first. It took an hour for this bottle to show its light acidity and calcious soil flavors.
This is a crowd pleaser that is very fun to drink but not quite serious enough to make it near elite territory. Fire at will.

Poured from half bottle on a really hot day. Brilliant and generous as the last showing (from a full bottle) just a few weeks back. Glad it's not as tight as it was in January. Showings like this reinforce why it's my favorite big house, all things considered.

Drank to celebrate the birth of our first child. Yes it's young (fitting for the circumstance), but this still has plenty to offer at this stage--orchard fruits, some lemony citrus, so much brioche. Very fine mousse with a laser-like acidity and tremendously long finish. Plenty of depth and complexity, so it will certainly continue to develop and improve, but also plenty of reason to enjoy now.
This showed excellent. Both stony and citrusy, with lime and toast, framed by a complex and stony finish. The balance here was spot on, and measured against the 2012 Cristal, it for me was head and shoulders above that wine. It was also one of the best wines of the day that we were poured, for me tied with the 2014 Marie Courtin Efflorescence. Gotta say, the 168 was really good yesterday.
This is a terrific young champagne. Orchard fruit, minerals and bread come through. The wine is concentrated, fresh, structured and taut with a strong acidic backbone. This is so youthful now but can evolve nicely for many years.

.375ml bottle I don't usually drink GC with less than 10 years post disgorgement age, but I have a few small bottles and decided to give one a go.
Very lemony and intense flavour, a lot of acidity as well. Some slightly overly oxidative notes, I assume because of the small bottle format.
Drank a 157 edition a few weeks ago and despite being based on a far lesser vintage, 2001, it delivered a much more unique and much better drinking experience. I can strongly urge any doubters of GC to try storing a few bottles minimum 10-20 years from purchase and experience the magic that this can bring.

vibrant young lemon color, the nose wafts from the glass- dreamy in tone but almost robust in its persistence with the perfume evident even sitting 2 feet away from the glass, almonds, lemons, a hint of orange and a wonderfully intense mousse already stirring, on the palate this has a full body akin to the 164eme and is already at a very zesty and lively stage that the 164eme has only recently reached, apples, a hint of pear, oranges- and as on the nose a very sexy mousse throughout that is well integrated with the many elements showing a rare harmony at this young stage, after 2 hours in glass hints of white flowers emerge as the mousse notes on the palate grow beautifully cool like rose petals on a spring morning. while they all eventually develop into something reliably great- in the 164eme, 165eme and 166eme we have had a recent string of bottlings that have particular personality traits- attractive excesses if you will, with the 168eme I find a more complete picture- and one that has come together beautifully very early- in half bottle anyway, luxurious, lavish and even riveting, this is Krug MV at its finest.
***(**), from half bottle- bottles may be a bit less developed
As a side note- I got this in a promotional Krug lunch box case along with a packet of toasts and a small bottle of Petrossian Onion Jam. The Jam is wonderful. A nice accompaniment to the Krug, and in modest quantities I can see it doing great things to sandwiches, salads and light entrees. Worth the effort to seek out this mini-picnic set.

Light golden in color, fine mousse. Citrus, lemon and a touch of green apple. Some brioche, brown sugar and ginger. Defined by clarity and freshness, but with enough richness to keep from being simple. Young, but drinking beautifully. Bottled 2012, disgorged 2018.

Light gold color. From 375ml, split bottle over an hour. 418039, 2012 base, 52PN, 35C, 13PM. Great bottle, a perfect way to kick off Spring at Sea Salt on the patio. Great nose, filled with marzipan, shaved hazelnut, toast, baked and dried apple and pear tart with limestone. The palate is full and deep with layers of dried fruits of apple and pear with overtones of orange zest and orange marmalade wrapped around the chalky minerals; toasted, marzipan, honey, nutty and firm with great definition and penetration. Really good now, but clearly has some significant upside. 94-96pts.

Served blind. The Chardonnay notes in this bottle seemed more prominent to me, and it influenced me to guess BdB. Also, the structure in this bottle was notable, the spine of minerality that seemed to lift it all up so nicely. Could sense some of the richness too. This bottle was more impressive than the bottle I had last May.

First encounter with the 168. Decanted. Feels very young and crisp for a Krug GrC. Florla and citrus notes dominate, some fennel as well, herbs. Excellent freshness and delineation, almost like a Blanc de Blanc at this young stage. Impressive, will be grand but for today the 167 and 166 are much more ready. I think the 168 will need till 2027 to reach its peak. If you can't wait, decanting advised. 95+

Good champagne, but I don't get the hype. Nose is almost not there (perhaps a bit of lime). Palate is overly citrusy with some green apple and cream. Good champagne, but I would rather have the Taittinger Comtes at this price point.

Similar to my impression about a year ago, except the bottle was noticibly tighter this time around. Gave it about two hours of air and it opened up more, but still nowhere near as opulent and generous as it was on release. Hold for the time being.

Zesty, lively, lemon, green apple, slight toast, but very dry. Really dry. Somehow, Grosset Polish Hill I drank a decade ago came to mind. Maybe a little more dosage will suit me better. A very solid champagne nevertheless.
Intense, rich, and chalky. Tightly wound but hyper concentrated. Needs time but all the pieces are here. For my palate, just a touch inferior to the 164 and 165 but better than the 166 or 167. Score is conservative as I expect this will age beautifully. Happy to have some in the cellar.

From .375ml and against the 169eme. Richer, toastier aromatics than the 169eme at this stage. Grilled lemon peel, yellow plum skin and flesh, red apple skins, & baked bread aromatics. Very expansive on the richly textured palate with those same fruit notes coming through. Quite lengthy and very excited to watch this over the years.

The champagne is not all the world intense in the aromas and has a surprising delicate fruit of citrus, citrus peel and a hint of red fruit peel, flower, nut, straw, cool bread baking and this clear wet salty picture that teases.
Good full-bodied and fresh wine with this instant razor-sharp and intense fruit that creates pleasure with citrus, apple peel, a little cold coffee, gradually wider bread baking, clear salt minerals and hints of wax. Nice denser finish with clear acidity that refreshes the mouthfeel with lime peel that gradually turns into somewhat more grapefruit-like tones. The champagne is perceived as slimmer and with more energy than expected. More reminiscent of Champagne's response to Ch.Lafité. You need to be familiar with her to understand the details.
Really great potential for the next 15 years. 94 points. For now. (94-96p).

Objectively a really good champagne. Definitely exudes elegance, technically great brioche nose with a hint of yeast. Over the course of 2-3 hours the palate rounded a bit from opening with mostly green apple and some pear. Precision with chalkiness (expected from terroir) at first becoming more well balanced with time. On paper can’t find anything wrong, but it also didn’t stand out to me at all. Wasn’t particularly unique, powerful, or memorable. It probably just needs time to continue developing. Yet at this stage I can’t recommend such a young GC at what the market price is for near term consumption. So many cheaper and more compelling grower options out there to explore

Opened 6 hours before consumption. This is tight out of the gate. But also fridge cold. It's mostly tight citrus with pastry notes. 10-15 minutes in the glass and it starts taking off. Ginger notes drift in with some flinty wood. A touch mineral but still with the lemon. The palate picks up from tart apple with some marzipan and buttercream. Lifting and rolling, lengthy. Focused laser beam at the finish. Consistent over two nights. Beautiful wine that needs more time to unfold in my mind. If anything just don't serve it very cold.

Krug 168eme • Based on 2012 vintage, with 1996 as the oldest vintage in the blend. • Medium light yellow colour with the nose of freshness - fresh stone fruits, generous apples and zest, brioche and pastry. Not a lot of complexity like 166eme, it’ll need bottle time to develop. . Palate was similar, very fine mousse. We tasted again the next day, the champagne was more complex with buttery pastry, cream, honeyed apple, peach, melon. . I’ll keep it in the cellar for the next 5 years.

PNP into 薄はり葡萄酒器 (“No” day): Pale golden to the eyes.
Florals, very lightfooted. Slightly greener florals is what this edition stood out for me. But this can simply due to the fact that this is just too young upon recent release.
Put on weight again with time in glass with the Krug signature caramel and luxury stone fruits and golden citrus.
93-94 points for me.

168th is a beast. Powerful and expressive but so accessible in its youth. On the palate, you get toasted almonds, really subtle red berry, citrus, and minerality throughout. The of taste and smell of a really good almond biscotti with lemon zest comes to mind. The structure here is serious. This finish is pretty long, citrusy, and bright. The acidity is pretty dialed up at this point and is the only minor distraction at this point. Once the acidity integrates a bit, this will be a stunner. Gorgeous champagne.

From a half bottle. Transparent gold color with a nose of fresh apples with some background brioche. Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and an overall rich mouthfeel. Wow. I would like to just post the one word and drop a mic but not sure how to do that so here goes.
Had both Kinsman 2016 wines at one of our favorite restaurants in AZ, Cafe a Monarch (unfortunately we had to bolt due to an allergic reaction) or it would have been a perfect night. Krug 168 and both 2016 Kinsman wines.
Krug- same notes apply. must give this air or the acidity closes the palate unable to reveal its inner goodness. Hold as it will become something special but a beautiful early champagne nonetheless.
R- quick super decant and drank through 45 minutes. excellent in all facets, attack, middle and end with a long finish. Cassis, boysenberry, blackberry, coco, tobacco, hint of dark wet earth all built around a thin mineral spine that carries this full bodied wine through the long finish. Now on the the textural pleasure of a mouth coating luxurious silky sexy kitten batting the tongue playfully teasing you throughout the experience- just excellent. I am a huge Nigel fan from his days at Araujo but this style is a juxtaposition of that style- both excellent wines with very different profiles. This is a wine that is drinking spectacular now and now is when it should be drunk as well as later. A homerun right out of the gates. But with confidence.
A- quick super decant and drank through 45 minutes. A very good wine but not at the level of R. It is missing the attack of R but maybe it’s a the vineyard requiring time to fill out? Regardless a beautiful feminin wine that if not had with its badass brother would have received accolades by all. This wine while missing the attach has a good middle and end of blackberry, dark red cherry, a bit of earth, coco, cedar and a velvety texture. Enjoyed by all . Very good wine and would love to check back in a few years from now to see if it filled out. Yummy nonetheless.

Color: medium gold Nose: custard and lemon rind. Brioche bread. Toasted hazelnuts. Crab souffle. A hint of anise. Huge nose, full of yeast but also deep. Creme brulee Palate: lots of power. Tiny and powerful bubbles. Lots of toasted hazelnuts, milky malolactic notes (?), Yeast. Acidity is high. Lemon juice. Spice somewhere in there. Finish: long

Jailbreak Wine Dinner - Krug 168, Ultramarine, MacDonald and etc. (Jailbreak Brewery, Laurel, MD): Expressive nose displaying opulent ripe yellow fruit, golden delicious, lemon curd, apple pie, honey, brioche and limestone. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of ripe yellow fruit, dense and rich yet pure and energetic, very fine generous mousse, bright acidity and mineral, and a long concentrated sweet yellow fruit driven finish with apple candy and brioche at the end. This clearly expresses the ripe concentrated fruit of the 12 vintage, but also retains precision and purity. Really impressive. Although youthful, drinking beautifully.

What a great experience to try this monster way too early. Really high acidity and only sometimes was it possible to taste the hidden fruit. No doubt this will be a great Champagne with further cellaring. Now it gives high but pleasant mousse in the mouth. Pear and apples dominating on the fruity side. Otherwise strong acidity which suggests food. Already a long, lingering aftertaste.

A private lunch (Restaurant Schloss Berg ***, Perl/Nennig, Germany): A blend of 198 wines from 11 different years, with the youngest the base vintage 2012, and the oldest a lot of Verzenay Pinot Noir 1996; 52% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 13% Meunier. Hugely energetic and complex wine, rich but tightly wound, creamy and fresh, but it is so young that it really needs oxygen right now to show its real character, and another five years at least to develop in the bottle. ID 119001 A blend of 198 wines from 11 different years, with the youngest the acclaimed 2012 and the oldest dating back to 1996. It's based on the 2012 harvest, complemented by fully 42% reserve wines– a blend of 52% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 13% Meunier – was bottled in 2013 and aged for seven years in Krug’s cellars. Aromas open with baked bread and brioche, pastry dough and a combination of marzipan and toasted almonds followed by honey comb, autumn leaves, pear tart, bruised apple, stone fruits, lemon, dried apricot and a combination of flowers, chalk and hints of oak and vanilla crème. The palate show a very fine, persistent and elegant mousse. Acidity is high and integrated into the wine. A more oxidative style with no austerity and still very young. Flavors cloak the palate in notes of marzipan, lemon juice, apple, peart tart Tatin, apricot, honeycomb, toasted almond pasty, brioche, butter croissant, fall leaves, oak, chalk and a discreet saline presence. The finish is long, balanced and harmonious. This should cellar very well!

Krug Grande Cuvée: Many Editions (Park Ridge Country Club): Tasted from two bottles, which were identical. Lots of powerful apple aromas and flavors with equally powerful structure. Slightly more dense, and not quite as much fun, as the 375 ml bottle of this wine from last night. But correspondingly, better to cellar.

We drank this while watching the Sound Of Music so in short, the Krug 168 had me feeling like Julie Andrews singing in the high alpine meadow. "The hills are alive!" Exactly.

Bright and electric, the 168eme MV Krug is meeting its lofty expectations in these early days of drinking, with an appealing combination of rich apple and pear paired with stone, gingerbread, and marzipan. Fine bead with excellent minerality and acid structure. Frankly this is pretty good today but best with a few more years rest.
(52% Pinot noir, 35% Chardonnay, 13% Meunier from 2012 base with 42% of the wine from reserve)

Beautiful nose of lemon, brioche, almonds, chalk, and maybe a hint of apples. Nice and rich, yet at the same time light and acidic with some salty notes, more lemon, and green apples on the palate. Very complex and impeccably balanced. Long finish. This is outstanding and seems surprisingly ready now.

Youthful wine, delicate flavours, not that many yeast notes, green apple and pear. I tasted it in D'Angleterre Bar and unfortunately it was served in a flutes glass instedad of a white wine glass. However no doubt, the wine needs years in the bottle - makes sense since base wine is 2012. It might get magical over the coming years. The rating is based on performance right now in the flutes glass. Would probably seem more complex in the right glass.

Seems unanimous 168 requires air. I tasted immediately after opening and wasn't thrilled. Nose of sliced almonds and something which I can't pin down. Two of the other champagne showed much better. Revisited after an hour and it clearly improved, even adding a little weight to the palate. It's nice but not at the elite status right now. I'd put some time on these.

This needed air to develop some complexity but in honesty, the Gimmonet SC and the Vouette et Sorbee d'Argile beat the Krug. Yes, the Krug was good and it did develop flavor and balance with the aeration, but at $150-170 a bottle, is it really better a 2-3X the price of these other two wines. For me, I'd rather sink the money into these other wines, or if I want to do a bit less than the Krug pricing, I'd rather have Vilmart CdC.

My third or fourth time with this, and I'm convinced that, for my palate, I'll not be opening any of my remaining bottles for at least 3-5 more years; today, this is all about potential. Really nice now, with noble structure that I'll call classically rich, I just couldn't focus properly on what was in my glass because I'm consistently regretting that it's been opened too soon. For its class, its potential, it's easily highly recommended

Half-bottle. Cork code V1832KA. Disgorged 2018 autumn. Young obviously. Delicious green fruits, brioche, lime and touch of toasts. Fine fruits and lingering acidity. A great young Krug.

Quarantine; 3/12/2020-5/29/2020 (Chicago, IL): 119003, cork code V1861K. This is a lighter edition of the GC, and reminds me a bit of the 166eme, and maybe even the 164eme in its predominantly white fruit inflections and relatively higher acidity. It's not as broad-shouldered and scaled as the 167eme either. There is a gentle hint of brioche here along with some marzipan, tart citrus, and maybe even a smidgen of fresh herbs. On the palate, this has a somewhat pronounced acid profile in comparison to the reset of the elements. There's a bit of a white grape thing on the attack which is probably a function of this being so young and fresh, and my expectation is that that will recede with a few months. A good iteration (as all bottles of Krug are), but I'd put it behind the 167eme.

Very linear and precise with quite a high acidity as of now; butter, brioche in the background, but the lemon element speaks loudly here. Extremely elegant - yet a tight fist of power. 94+ point #VirtualTastingWith OlivierKrug #Kandestederne

Green apple fruit aroma with a yeasty bread touch. Clean & fresh. Nicely balanced with a pretty cut of tense lime citrus. Quite nice and well made. Would be curious to compare this to the 164, which I love.

PnP - umm no, needs time to open up. Once real time in the glass the champagne unfolds into a very young beauty (although for my palate needs at least 5 more years maybe longer). A wonderful laser like lemon zinger with a brief quick hint of white pepper then back to lemon, unripe white peach with a non-sweet honey tone that flashes right before the mouth watering acid lemon jolt that carries through to a long finish.
The typical stronger Unami, Ginger, yeast/bread flavors are not yet pronounced (hints here and there) nor do they seem like they will be for some time. Curious and excited to follow this over the next decade. The last sip was the best. 93++
It feels like the best is yet to come.

Initially tasted way too acidic and one-noted in lemon, despite the amazingly expansive nose of brioche, biscuits, toasted marshmallows, ripe white stone fruit, and lovely minerality.
After about an hour, this blossomed into a stellar wine that can only be triumphed by the Krug 164. Clearly the best release since the 164, this is the total package and has the deep complexity and intensity that you can only get with Krug. Dom doesn’t come close to this. Crazy good wine that is still so, so young.

Day one: Exceptional, though this wine needs a decent amount of air to show at its best. Aroma of citrus, brioche, and gingerbread. Intense acidity on palate with flavors of green apples, baking spices, toast, and rum raisins. A bit like Apfelstrudel. Exquisitely balanced, with a huge, rich body and unami in abundance. I cannot remember tasting a wine that has shown so well at so early a stage of its evolution. 95.
Day two: Scorching acidity and massive power. Aromatically this wine has fattened up, but on the palate it is considerably less interesting and “kruggy” than yesterday. It’s all acidity and big white fruit, with little of the spice, bread, and green apple notes of the day before. Today’s austere showing has compelled me to downgrade this wine’s score, though its apparent structure and power augurs well for its future. 90. I’ll split the difference above.

First full bottle after having the 375 in Oct...2012 base, with reserves to 1996. Bright and electric right now...lemon and ginger tantalize the palate with pucker and fine popping bubbles...then a creamy ginger, honey butter, and marsala mousse calms the party in the mouth, and the contemplation begins. Pure golden fruits, chiseled saline minerality, subtle ox, deeply nuanced, richness yet elegance, and in ready to go form! Again...does remind me of the 08 DP in that how well it is showing right out the gate. Always fantastic...but this one seems right up there at this stage with the 164. Gunna need a bigger boat on this one!
Very light slate golden with scarce bubbles in burg glass. Nose strongly mineral, hint of waxy richness. Palate some richness, high toned yellow fruit, a bit closed. More potential than immediate pleasure, it seems. 91 pts with upside.

2012 base, with reserves to 1996. A knockout mv! Although totally Krug...creamy ginger mousse, bright lemon tart acidity, chiseled minerality, perfect level of oxidation, deeply nuanced, bright with freshness...it reminded me of the 08 DP, in that how well balanced and in perfect form already right out of the gate. Blew the 06 DP and 08 La Grande Dame out of the water!

Nose: Coconut, brioche, sponge cake, almond, raisin, peach
Notes: a decent amount of acidity accompanied by a big and structured palate, Krug NV can easily be one of my favorite NVs for its complexity and intense aftertaste.

Tasting note:
Base 2012.

This is stunning Champagne. I'm squarely a fan of the Krug Muliti vintage champagnes. They are exactly where I'll hang my hat with Krug. That said, I've never tasted the Clos du Mesnil and would love to. I appreciate the extra freshness & zip of 168 & 169 vs. the vintage Krugs with addl age. The 168 has amazing concentration & intensity. The fruit is about as pure as a pure gets. Wonderful stuff! Thanks Dave D! 96+ My WOTN!

Evolved from yuzu lemon and white flowers to a heady mix of orchard fruit and toasted brioche bread with a nougat finish that went on and on rising and falling with incredible persistence.

I don't usually drink GC with less than 10 years post disgorgement age, but I have a few small bottles and decided to give one a go.

From half bottle
vibrant young lemon color, the nose wafts from the glass- dreamy in tone but almost robust in its persistence with the perfume evident even sitting 2 feet away from the glass, almonds, lemons, a hint of orange and a wonderfully intense mousse already stirring, on the palate this has a full body akin to the 164eme and is already at a very zesty and lively stage that the 164eme has only recently reached, apples, a hint of pear, oranges- and as on the nose a very sexy mousse throughout that is well integrated with the many elements showing a rare harmony at this young stage, after 2 hours in glass hints of white flowers emerge as the mousse notes on the palate grow beautifully cool like rose petals on a spring morning. while they all eventually develop into something reliably great- in the 164eme, 165eme and 166eme we have had a recent string of bottlings that have particular personality traits- attractive excesses if you will, with the 168eme I find a more complete picture- and one that has come together beautifully very early- in half bottle anyway, luxurious, lavish and even riveting, this is Krug MV at its finest.

Excellent freshness and delineation, almost like a Blanc de Blanc at this young stage. Impressive, will be grand but for today the 167 and 166 are much more ready. I think the 168 will need till 2027 to reach its peak. If you can't wait, decanting advised. 95+

Krug 168eme
•
Based on 2012 vintage, with 1996 as the oldest vintage in the blend.
•
Medium light yellow colour with the nose of freshness - fresh stone fruits, generous apples and zest, brioche and pastry.

Nose: custard and lemon rind. Brioche bread. Toasted hazelnuts. Crab souffle. A hint of anise. Huge nose, full of yeast but also deep. Creme brulee
Palate: lots of power. Tiny and powerful bubbles. Lots of toasted hazelnuts, milky malolactic notes (?), Yeast. Acidity is high. Lemon juice. Spice somewhere in there.
Finish: long
I find it really forceful. It's young and assertive. Acidity is very high, but the flavors are brooding and autolytic. It is excellent champagne.

Otherwise strong acidity which suggests food. Already a long, lingering aftertaste.

A blend of 198 wines from 11 different years, with the youngest the acclaimed 2012 and the oldest dating back to 1996.

Gunna need a bigger boat on this one!

by the glass pour from 750mL.
