Solid bottle. 2005 disgorgement. Medium yellow. Plenty of tiny bubbles. Some age on the palate. But very fresh. Walks the line of young/old very well. Slight oxidation but only adds to the complexity. Definitely not overly oxidative at all. Nutty, coffee, toast, lemon. Good energy and complexity. At peak - no need to wait further.

Drank three Doms together on this fine night - MPD Westward:
1995 Dom Pérignon Champagne Oenothèque: couldn’t really evaluate this due to light oxidation. The 1996 is a stunning wine, and assume this could be too from some of the notes in the distance.
2008 Dom Pérignon Champagne Brut Chef de Cave Legacy Edition: I’ve had at least 3 bottles of the regular label 2008, and this tasted richer but less lively to me - so it must have been the bottle. No idea. P3.
2012 Dom Pérignon: This was a firecracker. So lively and, for me, the Champagne of the night. Flinty on nose - which is a surefire way to my wine-tasting heart. H4.

M&PD Tasting: Westward (Seattle, WA, USA): What a nice way to start a tasting! Quite mature (as compared to past tastes of the 1996 Oeno), this 1995 is complex, lovely and a bit oxidative.

Mouth with a creamy and textured touch with a delicate effervescence. This wine was young for a long time like the 1996, but the complexity and the patina of time are finally taking their toll on a cuvée that is often characterized by incredible freshness. The champagne is beautifully structured with aromas of orange peel, apricot, a little hazelnut, white flowers and fine toasted notes. Elegance and freshness are obviously present in this wine, which has an incredibly long juice, all in finesse. His presence is undeniable. Finally this 1995 is revealed to me who had drunk it for the first time in 2011!! Great majestic finish, always delicate, on a mixture of toast, chalk, and white flowers over an impressive length.
Great champagne.

Lovely, graceful bottle, not hugely showy, rather restrained at first but opened up nicely over the course of dinner. I think this is a step behind where the ‘90 was at an equivalent point in its life, but still plenty of interest. Notes of yeast, red apple and a hint of Parmesan, good depth on the palate. Very enjoyable.

Two years on since the last bottle - this now is beginning to reach its zenith and will now evolve into a very graceful wine for the next 10 years or more given the acid that is still left.
Poised, composed and confident, the 95 is beginning to be beguiling, mesmerising, mysterious and while it has closed its youthful chapter, a new one beckons. Dark, earthy and dark fruits, the youthfulness of brioche and toastiness have now disappeared giving way to new horizons - pinot like structure with orange peel, apricot notes, smokiness and a hazelnut accent. Fantastic yumminess factor.
Drink now but would be amazing to try in 10 years and with 2 bottles left, god willing, I will see it again then.

The complexity of mature Dom Pérignon is interesting. It develops from mostly lemon citrus it has when young to a much darker stone fruit such as dried peach or apricot. Never losing its acidity it becomes more intriguing and more challenging. This ‘95 Oeno seems more advanced the the ‘96 and is on the verge of being past it best so drink up.

Absolutely gorgeous champagne. The bubbles were extremely fine and there was a wonderful harmony between toasty, nutty, buttery notes versus freshness and acidity. Exactly what I'm looking for in a beautiful Oenothèque.
This was better than the Krug 1996 from Magnum opened next to it. Will keep but don't hesitate to drink - it's in a fantastic spot right now.

Dom Perignon P2/P3 Dinner (New York City): Didn't bring it like the P1. Much more reticent and reserved. Felt like it was holding back flavor and only giving acidity.

Complex and enchanting nose of white flowers, honey and citrus fruits.
On the palate, the wine is young and incredibly fresh, as is often the case with this cuvée. It begins with an attack as subtle as it is rich, with beautiful honey aromas and a caressing bubble. The palate is still astonishingly youthful, serene and lively. Perfect balance between tension, sweet pastry aromas, and opulent substance. Everything is integrated, even the dosage that we still perceive when warming up. Creamy and enveloping finish, which ends on a chalky length.
Excellent oenothèque which has life ahead of it but which will always be in the shadow of 96 in my opinion. I found this bottle slightly better than the previous one.

I’ve always been a big fan of 1995 champagne, a lot of times over the lauded 96’s. This is no exception. Very light golden yellow. Nose is very fresh and loaded with fruit. The first sip has lovely light brioche and nuttiness but the ripe apple pushes through more than expected. An absolutely delicious champagne.

Tasted Blind. Fantastic nose of tasted brioche, baked apples and citrus with a creamy texture in mouth. A bit of development here but doesn’t have all the layers/complexity just yet. Has solid energy and acidity. Drinks very well now but certainly no rush. Outstanding.

[Blind] Correctly identified this as DP for the toasty brioche. Typical mid-90s development with yellow apple and a bit of fall spice in the citrus but not yet nutty. Nice bit of reduction hanging on in œnothèque style. Great bottle of this, fresh and crisp.

B’s official 50th (The Medlar, London): Mid straw. Very nicely mature, blind I thought this was the 90. Rich and honeyed, fully ready, lovely. Just needs a bit of extra zip and cut for top flight. ****

The nose has a predominantly lemony flavor, to which will be added meringue and chalky aromas with a hint of toast.
Ethereal effervescence.
The mouth begins with a very fresh attack, then settles the depth of the material. The wine is complex and elegant at the same time, we find the floral aromas and a citrus zest around an acidity perfectly integrated into an elegant whole. Big finish on chalk and citrus fruits, it explodes in the mouth and with good length thanks to a saline touch.

I am re-rating this wine based on another bottle I just had from my cellar. Beautiful poised and elegant, it was a wine of complexity, depth and power that will take you to another level of appreciation for champagne. Don’t make the mistake of drinking too cold as a lot of the flavours are quite subtle. It certainly was one of the best bottles I have ever enjoyed from the House. Drink now or 8+ years.

A disappointing bottle. Not corked but never reached great heights. Apple, nectar nose followed by a thin body (relatively) and with a hint of brioche with a bit of acidity! Will try another one but this bottle never shined.

First time 100p for a champagne. Has it all. If you look for young and fiery, go somewhere else; this one light yellow, rich rich attack, well balanced acidity, citrus, peach, tasty, yummy, creamy; really long aftertaste, almost more of a meal than a drink

Drank two of these over the holidays, and man are they great now! This is a singularly terrific wine. My last note mentioned lemon and d-limonene. I must say I fell short as this wine has so many perfect iterations of lemon in all of the forms that would make it great in Champagne. There is curd, and custard, and d-limonene, and pie crust, there were Avalons, Eurekas, Harveys, Meyers, and Rough to name a few. Never was it too tart, or too confectionary. It was just so balanced and perfect, with a very nice aspect of mineral perceptions. It was effortless to drink as well!
Nowhere as impressive as the 95 Dom P2 I had few months ago. The 95 Oenotheque was fresh and young, but not showing the layers, depth and nuances of the P2 which resembled a Montrachet with bubbles. Lacking the tension you would expect.
2005 disgorgement. Classic oeno reduction profile of iodine/cold rolled steel but entirely in harmony with the rich fruit. Really fantastic. My and the group’s WOTN.

RIBBS @ La T (La Trompette, London): Six years on from my last encounter with this, but just as assured and rounded. Assured without any cockiness, and very comfortable in itself. Rich, rounded, harmonious, but without the frisson if tensile energy that the 98 showed earlier in the week. Absolutely à point.*****

Doften ger banan (?!

Deeply golden colored. The bubbles are starting to fade a bit but still strong. Very richly fruited still. There is enough oxidation to make it interesting without being distracting. Powerful and clean. A bit decadent. Lively. Delicious. The density of the fruit is certainly there for more aging but given the bubbles, oxidation and wine making style of this bottling I'd say you'd probably want to get at this one within the next decade. Terrific.

Much more energy and verve vs the 95 regular DP in the next glass. Packs more punch and drinks younger and more vibrant. Highly complex flavors with toast, coffee, lemon peel wrapped in solid structure and perfect amount of acid to balance it all out. 2006 disgorgement.

Champagne Showdown: 1995 v. 1996 (Atera): Quieter nose that features lemon citrus but is missing the pleasant sulphuric note found on the ‘96. Crisp palate, but somewhat straightforward, and I always prefer the Œnos. Both Œnos are much lighter in colour than the regular cuvée.

Lots of brioche, nuts, pears, and citrus, with good freshness and effervescence, but as an example, lacking the intensity and minerality found in the 1996, Dom Perignon.

Crisp and elegant - citrus notes, wet stones, toast, pears. Great secondary characteristics, showing almonds and spice, nice creaminess on the back palate. Chalky throughout...very nice and still seems young. Would like to have spent more time with this, a lot going on...Should have a long arc ahead of it.

Blind tasting flight of Doms and one very erudite fellow guessed this to be 1995 which was also in the same flight. Point being, the flavour profile is that consistent. Pear, cream mousse of citrus fruits, flat stone, hint of cheese, toast. Where the 2006 sibling presented its flavour profile with deference, this sang it melodically. A more complex nose with marginally more unctuousness, mouthfeel was on a different level of brightness and liveliness to the 95. Dances in the mouth, tantalizes the tongue. Lengthy, sustained finish with coating of nuts, ocean spray, hint of spice. Generally in agreement it was tigher than its sibling and reflected it can rest in bottle for many, many years to come before reaching its full potential.

Toasty, nutty, pretzels, dry starfruit on the nose. Sharp, young, and lively. Rich and immensely flavourful on the palate. Maybe a bit fleeting in palate. Exactly DP in character. Sizzling effervescence with present chalk. Really really enjoying this.

Tasted blind. Quite muted on the nose, but could be identified as a Dom P by the flint and smokyness. Lacking more evolved notes of coffee which will appear with more age.
Very rich and concentrated on palate and very balanced. I was surprised by the quite harsh acidity and guessed it as the 1996 oenotek.
The wine appeared very fresh and had I not been given a hint that it was a late disgorged edition, I would have guessed it as a younger vintage. I would save these 3-5 years longer, at least, to allow the wine to evolve more on the nose.
Deg. 06.

Opened and drank leisurely in a white wine glass over some late night work.....the first time I have opened it since 2009. Sumptuous straw gold colour....it has matured a lot. Lively but fast-disappearing mousse. What bubbles that remain are horizontal rather than vertical and even those disappear surprisingly quickly, not that I minded. Nose is wonderful combination of brown bread yeastiness and baked fresh lemons citric liveliness. Palate is a similar glorious balance of bass-toned brown bread and oak notes combined with wonderful fresh acidic zestiness. There is gorgeous slightly burnt almond taste on the back of the palate and a real richness of resonance and reverberance on the finish with a length that is more young-ish Montrachet than conventional Champagne. Absolutely fantastic as long as you don't care about lots of bubbles.

A beautiful gift and a beautiful bottle of Champagne. Opened at midnight to celebrate the New Year and friends. Beautifully developed with a rich and slightly smoky nose, yellow and ripe pear, loads of verve and zip, lots of those marvelous bubbles. There is still plenty of life in this wine - so enjoy! Thank you again Brad and the CT Santa Elves - you know who you are!
Fresh, racy, vibrant, very effervescent, dry, good acidity. Fresh citrus, lemon, grapefruit. A terrific backbone of sulphur, matchstick, and smoke. Also creamy with some toasty brioche.

While drinkable, I expect much more from a mature DPO. This was very linear, even simple, tasting like ginger ale. The bottle was well stored and the mousse was appropriate, but it's possible this was an off bottle.

What a Champagne this is! Wow! My blind guess was 95 –Henriot. Nose is rather amazing, full of complexity not to mention huge amounts of coffee. Mixture of newly ground expresso beans and instant coffee powder, fudge, with gunpowder, smoke & minerals. Killer nose! Palate shows beautiful development, with toasted coffee and fudge, very fine mix of fruits and yellow apples. Minerals and finely balanced clean acidity, great length and depth. A great semi mature Dom P., among the best I have had up until this date. (96 – 98)

Dark yellow, showing some signs of age. Nose was very intense, lots of dark yellow fruits, butter and toasted brioche. The wine drunk more like a good Montrachet with butter, truffled olive oil, toffee, butterscotch and orange cream, with some matured fruits, kiwis and a hint of grapefruit. This wine was just so fat and rich, but with excellent acidity, structure and complexity. For me, this does edge out the 96 Oeno I had some time back. Lovely aged champagne!

Two bottles. Straight from Moet's cellars to Provence and opened there. Outstanding bottles. I am always nervous about younger DP's preferring the low production volumes of pre-90s… But these two were outstanding. Nutty, marzipan nose; small and intense bubbles; a long, very classy finish. PnP, served non-blind. I disagree with the current CT drinking window (2010-2020). In fact, I don't see this in its preferred window for a few more years, where it will likely plateau for another 7-10 after that. Chiseled, and edgy at first, but slowly opens its silken robe to give a brief glimpse of what is yet to come. Fabulous tension, length. Very well made, but too young to fully enjoy right now. Very good now, outstanding, later. Drink thru 2025

Disgorged in 05`, this was superb and even better than one I had a year ago purchased from the same source which was pretty stellar then; this just impressed with its complexity and depth and great acidity; it is clearly a major step up from vintage Dom and showing beautifully now with plenty to offer years away; as an aside, the 06` disgorgement is even better.

Bordeaux v Burgundy event (The Square Restaurant - London): Drank over two different bottles which showed a touch of variation. The first bottle was much more restrained with more crisp fruit but the 2nd bottle was deeper with very rich brioche notes, hazelnuts and funky yeasty notes. Popped and poured. Light straw/gold hue. Forward aromatically, with aromas leaping out of the bottle immediately upon popping the cork. In glass, the nose is that of classic Champagne, with yeasty aromas of apple dumpling, light citrus zest, stone fruits, biscuit, and a hint of minerals. Medium-light body. In mouth, this wine shows a certain level of "crispness" to the fruit while remaining incredibly precise; indeed, it's through this structured precision that one fully realizes how classy a wine this is, acidity in perfect balance with flavor on the plus finish. Still youthful, this could age for many more years. Simply classic Dom, and a joy to drink!

Another great bottle. Pale golden yellow. Wonderfully perfumed nose. Apple and citrus notes with DP's trademark fine bubbles. Medium to long finish. Captivating now. My grasp of champagne is limited but I'd venture that this will age well. However the fact that it's so approachable now might contradict? My bottles won't last too long in any case. 50+8+9+19+9=95

KYD #1.1: Impressive young nose filled with green apples and a lemon soda. Creamy and a little grape. The palate has plenty of lemon soda flavors with a prickly green apple tone. Juicy bubbles and a little yeast in the aftertaste. Some sweetness but not overdone. Powerful and tense fresh young acidity with a solid bitterness to balance everything out. At first, I thought this might be a thrilling champagne experience due to interesting fairly complex bread and citrus complexity, but as it settled down, it was merely excellent. K thought it was very young but I thought it tasted adolescent. Seeing the label greatly increases the analytic ability, though. I don't know how this Oeno compares with the first plenitude without doing a side-by-side of course but several of the champagne gurus think this is distinctly superior.

Vintage Champagne (Legend Cellars - Irvine, CA): This dignified wine is painfully young yet shows all the qualities of being a blue blood. Reserved notes of yeast, flint, and smoke at the outset, but with time and air it reveals quince, white flowers, and lemons followed by hints of aged leather, biscuit, and orange peels. Long and sumptuous on the palate. Not really approachable at the moment but it should be a stunner in about 5-10 years.

Dom Perignon Tasting at CW Alcohol 12.5% Second released to date, disgorged in 2005? This is clearly a step up from the straight Dom Perignon, also painfully tight, honeysuckle, light toasted brioche, licorice, and some white and green fruits with touch of honey and nutty aromas that added complexity and depth. Some fine beads present and disappear rather quickly in the flute. Fresh, very rich yet light on the palate, good transparency with its lively acidity, lots of white and green fruits, spices with mineral infuse to a very long acidic finish. This is polish, classy, and elegant with tons of power but perfectly balance. Need lots of time to come around as I sense that all of its components having fall apart, perhaps another 5-7yrs?

Quite a step up from the regular Dom; this has the same core of youthful, vibrant fruit, but there's a lot more going on here with delicate floral notes, hazelnut, brioche and chalky mineral elements on top of the primary fruit flavours. The mouthfeel's even more expansive and velvety than the '00 Dom poured before this, this feels a little bigger and fuller-bodied in contrast but the acidity and effervescence still keep it very precise and refreshing. Really impressive stuff, with a finish that doesn't let go.

Disgorged 2005: This is exceedingly young. The color was a rich yellow gold and very lively. The nose is awesome cream, dough, D-limonene, and lemon wrapped around something darker like anise. The youthfulness comes through in the mouth, where the structure comes at you by the fist-full. It is also rich and imbued with minerals. The wine got better over a three hour period. There is strong upside potential here. great stuff. 94+++

Groundhog Day!: Disgorged in '06. In a break with tradition we started this tasting with a "bonus bottle." Not sure how long this had been open, but it was rocking! The color is a crystal clear pale yellow. The nose is spectacular with soaring aromas of lemon, bread dough and tropical fruit. Despite how good this smells, it tastes even better. '05 disgorgement. This was different then the previous bottles that I have had as the tropical flavors had gone and more brown tones had become apparent with coffee, toffee and mocha. While more oxidized with respect to flavors, the acidity was strong, consistent with the other bottles. Not ready for this wine to get old.

'06 disgorgement. This has become a go to bottle for a few of us. While not cheap it's a bargain relative to other DP Oeno's on the market but it always delivers in a big way. There is a sweetness to this champagne, but it comes from the fruit not the dosage. Very DP with its coffee creamsicle flavors. Rumor has it the '96 Oeno is even better. On the nose this is very smoked and sporting big amounts of licorice. The mouth is dominated by apple acid. It is very intense yet with an elegant and pure structure. At present it does not seem fully integrated as nose and body seems to go in opposite directions. In 10-15 years when this comes together I think it will be great champagne.

4 Star Syrah Dinner at 11 Madison Park (NYC): Guillame's bottle and paired with cheese course. It had been a long time since I last tried this bottle, 4 days I believe. Drank great as usual, tropical fruit, minerality, acidity, great mouthfeel. Very different and much bigger than the Clouet we started the meal with. It was a perfect end to a perfect night as we needed something to bring us down from those big syrahs, but it needed to be big enough otherwise our taste buds not have even noticed.

Glad I started with this as the Lancaster Estate planned for the meal was a disappointment. As usual, the Oeno was drinking great with tropical fruit, minerality and great mouthfeel. This and the Krug are the best drinking '95's right now in my opinion.

A gift from a client. Popped & poured, not blind. First sip...ehh, ok, didn't wow me. However, with a little air, this is an exceptional, complex and balanced wine. A friend said it was the Coche of Champagne, high praise indeed.
Nutty mid palate, lingering finish, great bubbles. Only quibble was that it was a little soft on the palate, and I'm not sure I'd age this for decades, but damn, it's tasty now. Not worth the tariff for me, but if I won the lottery, I'd spring for a few btls. Too bad I don't play the lottery.

Tasted at the BBR & Moet Tasting "The Three Expressions of Dom Perignon" presented by Richard Geoffroy. As RG very well said this is a magnifying glass on the 95 DP. Cannot put it any better. Tasted side by side with the 95 which made the experience even better. This is a superb wine and a tribute to DP. The finish is even longer and the mouth feel is one to try to understand. Simply superb! Woth the 20% premium over the normal release.
A small hint by Richard was that they will soon start to release OEnotheque versions of the Rose. They have a full cache from the 60s onwards. Now that is something to look out for!

At the 2008 Post hotel Wine Summit in Lake Lousie Alberta Canada, We were fortunate to have Pascal Pecriaux who has been with Dom Perignon for thirty years. He walked us through three vintaged DPs, one DP Rose, and three of their Enotheque. It was a tough way to start a Saturday morning at 9:00, but I was up for the challenge. TheDP Enothèques are wines that are rested a while longer with their solids or lees in bottle in the cellars of Dom Pérignon. According to Pecriaux only a select number of bottles from very special vintages have the honor of becoming Enothèques. The 1995 was special and I got some exotic florals like orchids, ginger, toast. It was teasingly tart on the tongue. In the mouth the nutty taste a feel came though well. Some spoke of spice and smoke but I did not get that. Our presenter said this should be laid down a few more years.

4th time that I drink this cuvée on this vintage.
Magnificent floral and fig nose.

Dsg 2006. 3rd time I crossed this wine.

Doften ger banan (?!

Not as profound and complex as usual. A bit disappointing to be honest. Bright acidity and fresh, but lacking depth and complexity. Tones of sherry, citrus. Bottle was kept in cellar and was in pristine shape, but was not firing this evening. Too bad.

Dom Perignon Tasting at CW
Alcohol 12.5%
Second released to date, disgorged in 2005?
