Hint of dried red fruit, tea leaves, ginger flower and sous bois. Fruit was quite loose, and on the edge of fading. Still showed that regalness as a package. Thought it was a 82 or 86 DRC Ech in a semi-blind Echezeaux dinner. 91-92

Last bottle. Christmas dinner with magret de canard. Better than the bottle I drank last month. Still beginning to fade but retains the complexity and vibrance you expect from DRC.

Lunch + playdate at M+M (M+M. Robin Road): A charmingly mature wine - the nose had a nice blush of sweet red cherries, dried berries, forestry earth, meat, and a blush of whole cluster herbs and spice, even a touch of fresh cut flowers. A truly lovely nose. The palate was a couple of steps behind though. Nice and cool, with a fine structure of grippy tannins and really bright, citrusy acidity, but these framed a mouthful of rather disappointingly lean flavours of red berries and cherries, all seasoned with a nice blush of dried earth, tea leaves and some toasty spice. Charming and lively, with a lovely definition and cut to it, but even given the weaker vintage, this drank more like a 1er Cru than a Grand Cru. Fading perhaps. Still very enjoyable, but time to drink up.
