(Dr. Chan Dinner at Oswald’s) Fairy tale landing on Mars. On the nose, it’s a wonderful, poignant, explosive wine, yet carefully balanced and seamless. On the mouth, it’s smooth, melting. It starts with sparkling strawberries, various spices, and leaves with us with crackling Mars in all the magic one can imagine.

Took a while to remove the very fragile cork. Initial nose full of tertiary old wine flavors and slight chalkiness. Cleaned up nicely after 30 minutes in glass, the fruit is holding up well for such an old burgundy, able to stay in form for more than 2 hours. Time to drink up!

Very sweet fruit, explosive nose, hedonistic. If I were to be extremely technical, the nose lacked the additional complexity that I got from the 50 La Tache and the 73 RC. However, it was big and 100 for sure in hedonistic scale.

Dinner at Bern's with Penn, Scott, Eliza, et al. This was out of magnum. Wow, what a gorgeous wine. So fresh. The color was remarkable, so clean and ruby red. This took about an hour to really show itself, but lots of exotic spices and raspberry notes shown through once it did. Remarkable.

First night in Mecca (Berns): From Mag. Incredible full pink color with clear red center. Lovely forward lithe spicy red cherry with nice underbrush notes. OMG, lovely round sweet lively red/black cherry - lush and almost thick! Incredibly youthful with a nice round tannic structure remaining on it's long finish. Spactacular right from the decanter, it held up well but lost a bit of its initial spring after 30-40 minutes in glass. My WOTN and one of the best burgs I've been lucky enough to taste.
