Very tight upon opening. Then Sat in the cellar for a couple of hrs. Once I poured with dinner it was in a superb place. A very deep dark syrah. A little sweet but not hot like others have mentioned. A long lasting ripe fruit on the tongue.

Purchased at auction. Bottle and cork were in perfect condition for a 25 year old bottle of wine. Decided to open this weekend with a 21 day old dry aged ribeye. Wine had a sort of dusty flavor upon opening which went away after 30 min or so. Fruit was still very solid but the wine is waning. I would drink up if you have any more of these. Overall a great deal at auction for a lovely old Cab!

Was cooking beef Wellington for the first time and decided on syrah for the pairing. Decanted for over three hrs. Just love the almost opaque dark color of this wine. A very powerful and spicy syrah!

Decanted for probably 3 hrs. When we poured into the glass you could tell it was very dark and slightly viscous. Deep flavors! Dark berries, meat, cassis, and a nice follow through. Thought it was an excellent wine for the price point.

PnP. Had with beef stroganoff. Started off a little tight then opened up with great blue fruits. Lovely wine!

Decanted about an hour and she was still a blushing bride joy yet revealing her secrets. A very silly smooth blue fruit dominated on the palate. This may actually get better over time.

Wow....what a great 19 year old Cab! Popped the cork which was in decent condition and did not break and let it sit for an hour or so. Took a small sip to ensure it was not corked and was very pleased. Finally poured in a wine glass and there was a wonderfully sweet nose to this wine. Upon tasting it was full of dark red and blueberry fruits. Just a hint of tannins........and a beautifully integrated mature Cab! Purchased at auction and will look for more.

An inky dark Rhone style wine. Didn't decant long enough as it was still pretty hot. Very rich and is a good effort.

Mostly what one of the previous reviewer stated.......tannic, astringent, acidic and yes.........puckerville! Every so often, on the second day, it seemed to calm down and show a little fruit and then it was back to puckerville. I will give the other bottle a few more years and try again.

No formal notes. Decanted at restaurant for about an hr while we drank brother inlaw's spicy Pinot. Then on to the Denner which was rich and wonderful.

Ordered from winebid.com and the bottle arrived in excellent condition. Tried this last night with about a 1+ hr decant. Lovely fruit and forest on the smell. The acids are still there and it is a pretty good wine but the fruit was a bit faded. I do appreciate what this wine has become and what is offers.......nice acidity, muted slightly sweet bramble, dust, and a bit of forest floor. No oak or cedar in this. It is a lovely old CA Cab that is, based on this bottle, at the end of a lovely life.

Got this for a steal on winebid.com so I figured not much to lose. Bottle was in excellent condition and a high fill. Opened and the cork was in good condition and about 3/4 soaked. Wine was a brick color / garnet. A bit of acid on the start and then, over time, a bit of older sweet dark fruits began to show. The wine was surprisingly very drinkable! Great deal on a classic older Bdx.

a big powerful wine! Let it slow O for six hours. Didn't decant which was probably a mistake because we didn't get the full measure of this wine. The last glass was by far the best!

I had a long day and some awesome leftovers in the fridge so I pulled this Cabernet. Drank about half the first night. Not so much nose and very tight. Tannins and acid with some red fruit staring to emerge. Day two I poured a glass and the nose burst out of the glass. The second night a mix of dark fruits showed and it was much more approachable. I would recommend to give it a bit more time or a long decant. Potential to move up a couple of pts. Lovely wine!

Not something I would normally seek out. However a solid wine that was appreciated by most at the table.

As others have mentioned below this was very sherry like and minerally. I was turned off at first and most everyone at the table switched to another wine. After an hour it switched course and was actually a good match with the next course (cauliflower soup with scallop). So the experience ended on a positive note.

Lovely wine! Beautiful dark and rich color. Tannins integrated and drinking well. Loads of bramble, graphite and a bit of vegetal but it added to the overall complexity of the wine.

Figured I would try one out based on other notes. Decanted about 2+ hrs and then drank over four. Lovely rich flavor with some tannins. Only got better over time. No noticeable heat considering the 15.5 ABV. Will try again in the fall.

I brought this and a 2010 Pegau to a BBQ dinner on Sat night with friends. Put in a decanter and let sit for 45 min. The Pegau was good but this was much better. Was the WOTN for all that tasted.

Very tight out of the bottle and quit a bit of cedar. Loosened up after a coupe of hrs. Very dark and beautiful color. Fruit starts to show and the tannins have mellowed. Definitely a pencil lead on the the after taste. Day two actually much better. More flavorful.

Hey, I thought this bottle was an excellent value. The first bottle I had last year may have been off because I didn't like it. Sort of turned me off cab franc. Went back to try and really enjoyed this bottle!

Bought this bottle to drink more Spanish wines. Went head to head with a right bank budget bdx. Was much lighter in color and had a mellow flavor. Lovely wine ....just different from the bdx which everone preferred.

Day 1-slow O for an hr and then a taste. Dark garnet in color with a faint plum smell on the nose. Taste.....very tight and tannic. Seemed to get better with a bit of red berry fruit. Decided to cork up and try again on. Day 2-sort of a similar taste....the tannins are still there. Flavor spectrum still in the tart red berry area. Guess I will try the other bottle in a couple of years.

This was the last of a mostly cab dinner party. PnP and maybe that was the problem because I did not enjoy this wine. Thought it was astringent with no fruit to speak of. Drank about half and put in a stopper. Will try again tomorrow to see if is has opened up.

Wow....what a great wine! The bottle was decanted into some swan like riedel decanter. Nose was very powerful in the glass with blackberries and plums. This wine was probably one of the most balanced wines I have ever tasted. I think I understand the use of velvety.....to decribe a wine. Lush dark fruits and bramble with almost no tannins. Very long finish.

This great QPR wine is why I love bordeaux! Expressive nose with dark fruits. Follows through with predominantly black \ dark fruits. A bit of tannins but in an excellent spot. Follows through with some tar and cvigar box.

Decanted for a little over two hours and then consumed with dinner (veal with morels). just a beautiful Cab blend! Started with a wonderful nose and I don't believe ever closed down. Dominated by black fruits and cassis......but not over powering. Silky smooth tannins. I was waiting to enjoy one of these and it was well worth the wait!

Opened bottle and let sit in cellar for a couple of hrs. Been wanting to try this and it did not disappoint! I didn't initially get much on the nose and probably should have decanted just before serving. The wine has a wonderfully deep full flavor with some tannins. This just kept getting better in the glass. Did drink like an old world Bdx. But I really love this 100% Cab from the DeBrul vineyard. Thx to Chris for the introduction to this great wine!

This is definitely my style of US Pinot! I didn't get much off the nose but thought it presented a wonderful and full flavor. More forest and red fruits than the cranberry flavor that I don't like as much. Went very well with the salmon we had with dinner.
