Disgorged 10/21. Mid-gold color. Very good champagne blend of PN 57%, Chard 28% and Meunier 15% with 70% aged in barrels. Good balance between freshness and weight. Floral, citrus, light toast flavor, some leesy notes with crisp acidity but no harshness. Good aperitif wine and you can drink this all day.

Tasted at a merchant event, only brief notes: Fine citrus notes along with yeasty elements. Rather low intensity for now. On the palate dry as a bone despite 5g of residual sugar. A bit of wild acidity.

Root Day - purchased 2011. Dark lemon in the glass. Continuous stream of very small bubbles. Nose is brioche, light yeast, light citrus and mineral. On the palate the toast and brioche hits first with terrific palate cleansing bubbles and medium plus acidity followed by flavours of light mushroom, citrus, salinity and mineral. There’s a beautiful umami element to this wine due to its development. Great way to start off 2024!

Colour: Golden Nose: Citrus fruit, peach, red apples, hints of nuts, and yeast. Taste: Numerous fine bubbles create a pleasant mouthfeel, with superb acidity and a medium to full-bodied profile. Lemon and grape, ripe red apples, almonds, and toasted bread.

Sweet ripe yellow fruit, apple, baked apple, brioche, honey, sweet spices and mineral. Very good concentration, generous yellow fruit, medium fine generous mousse, good acidity and mineral, and a medium to long sweet yellow fruit driven finish. This is a solid sub $40 Champagne.

Very good concentration, generous yellow fruit, rich and full, generous medium fine mousse, bright acidity, strong mineral, and a long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with a hint of honey at the end. Colore giallo paglierino dorato.

(Disgorged in July 2022, base year 2016 with a reserve perpetual, 67% Pinot Noir, 7% Meunier and 26% Chardonnay, dosage 3,5 gr/l) Youthful nose showing yeast, lime citrus and red apples with a creamy palate showing minerals and a smooth citrus acidity finish showing a zest bitterness. Big time brioche on the nose, nutty and a little bit of apple as well. Lively on the palate and bright with some citrus and green apple coming through. med+ finish. Really solid Champagne for $34 from KL.

While the percentage of Pinot Noir has dropped from the last version I tasted 2-3 years ago, the percentage of barrel-aged wine has increased so the richness is there but in a different way. Big body, balanced and smooth. Very low dosage, but there’s enough fruit for sweetness to peak through. I think this would benefit from a year or so in the cellar, and could then continue to improve for many years. I’m buying more.

Vinomofo direct import. Bottled in 2015, magnum. Pinot 63%. Chardonnay 23%. Excellent nose of apple and brioche, yellow in colour with persistent small bubbles, lovely weighted palate, crisp on the palate with good structure, aperitif style, medium + length.

Retail $40. Disgorged July, 2018. "78% Pinot Noir, 16% Chardonnay, 8% Meunier." Ugh. It still bothers me that the varietal makeup adds up to 102%. I mean you learn that in third grade. Oh, the wine? Similar notes.
Hints of gold in the yellow colour. Toasty bouquet w. white smoke and seashells. Good depth and texture w. the smokiness recurring on the palate blending w. preserved apples and "wet table cloth". Not overly complex but far from boring. A very good basic champagne.

Golden in colour, this was a fairly rich style, with stonefruit and brioche and a balanced, intense, elegant palate. Very nice champagne and a good QPR at the sale price (A-). Disgorged 7/2019; L 334222.

Medium gold color with slight tinge of pink. On initial drink, the nose and complexity was closed/ low-to barely medium intensity and complexity so wasn't very impressed. Mousse is very fine and gentle so not the "big" sparkler if you're looking for something very fizzy for a celebratory occasion.
Grew in the glass over time. 30+ mins to 1+ hr definitely got better. Aromas of stone fruits - peaches and apricots with some leesy/biscuity character, some hints of marzipan and cream; coupled with a very delicate and elegant mousse and slight grapefruit bitterness on the end. Complements food very well with it's decent fruitiness and body (~67% pinot noir).
Very solid bottle worth keeping. Happy I bought 6 bottles of this. Excellent QPR @ S$50 per bottle. It's also a good way to introduce friends to grower vs grandes marques and the "crus" of champagne / champagne region.

Last bottle of a case bought a year ago at a discount retailer. The previous 5 were decent “party champers”, guzzled down at a couple of yacht parties (not my yacht). Decent, threatened to be good but ultimately not memorable. The last bottle was something else. In harmony - good fruit, length and acid. Reminded me slightly of Vilmart, which is the best compliment I can give any champagne.

Zinchester: Received as a gift and opened with good friends. I’d planned to bring something else but luser error led to it not being ordered so we had to go for the backup option. Was pleasantly surprised.
Deep yellow colour and an expressive nose - the general consensus at the table was some oak going on and this was confirmed on the palate. Some ripe apple, a sense of sweetness that I think comes more from the richness of the oak - low dosage at 3.5g/l.
Evidently this doesn’t undergo malo, some discussion about how the extra acidity can make wines less digestible. Certainly something to bear in mind next time I drink heroic quantities of champagne.
This is a lovely drop, will definitely seek out again.

Aromas of pits from stone fruits, toasty notes, fresh white and yellow fruits, some salinity like from oyster shells, and shiny minerals.
Flavors of savory and softly bitter minerals with some salinity, just a touch of oyster shells from the notes, and a bit more ripe fruit on the palate.
Bubbles are somewhat fine, almost too frothy on the palate at some times, and finishes with a nice salinity and minerality. Not bad for what you pay for.

Further to my Note of May 2, '20: This is #2. While the medium gold color is still puzzling, the wine is tasty. White stone fruits, some toasted bread, persistent and delicate effervescence. We enjoyed it, glad to have one more.

From a new batch but consistent with previous. Decadent concentrated yellow fruit, baked apple dominates, also sweet spices, marzipan, anise and mineral. Excellent concentration, sweet generous fruit, medium fine generous mousse, bright acidity and strong mineral, and a long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with sweet spices at the end. Really nice fruit expression, nice qpr.

Retail $40. Disgorged July, 2018. Another six months or so has passed since I popped the past bottle of this wine and sadly, this is on the back label of this one, too: "78% Pinot Noir, 16% Chardonnay, 8% Meunier." Come on people, I know that math is hard but really? And don't give me the "we like to give 102%" bull crap either. Yeesh. My previous notes still hold true, although this bottle seems to be a slight notch below the last.
Holidays 2021; 11/30/2021-1/2/2022 (Dogwood Grove, Arlington, VA): More citrus-driven than the Perseval Farge, this was a vibrant, almost bracing, bottle showing lime zest, kiwi fruit and graphite. A refreshing aperitif styled bottling. Opened on New Year's Eve as the starter bottle but became the main player.

Expressive nose displaying decadent yellow fruit, peach, baked apple, a hint of oak, marzipan, light caramel, sweet spices, smoke, anise and mineral. Excellent concentration, generous sweet yellow fruit, medium fine medium abundant mousse, good acidity, strong mineral and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with caramel at the end. If you like slightly nutty and “natural wine” like expression, this is the Champagne for you. Clearly showing Pinot which adds body and complexity.
A bottle in the window of a convenience store at a low price. Moderately shrunken cork, but plentiful pressure and foam. Pale old gold. Intensely creamy aroma with coffee and mushroom. Good acidity. In fine shape although not the best integrated. Tasty though. Disgorged March 2013. [Cork + cage; 12.5% abv; £15].

The nose here is really intense and very characterful, some ripe stone fruit, almonds, biscuit, dark minerality, also something like ripe, savory cheese and vanilla. The palate is quite stunning, it's super creamy, there is quite some oak, but it fits the style really well providing a full bodied, intense, yet at the same time fresh and precise wine. It's very salty as well and lingers long. Very, very good. Considering the price as well you can't do much better I think. Dg in 2020 with 3.5g/l. 17.5/20

Expressive nose displaying sweet yellow fruit, yellow peach, raspberry soda, lacquer, a hint of vanilla/oak, caramel, sweet spices and limestone. Very good concentration, generous sweet yellow fruit, medium fine mousse, bright acidity, strong mineral and a medium long sweet yellow fruit driven finish with a hint of vanilla and caramel at the end. This is “sharper” than the other cuvees. It is reasonably complex and round, perhaps due to new oak. There is a hint of sweetness.

Retail $40. Disgorged July, 2018. It has been a year and a half since I have opened a bottle of this wine. Why? I am not sure, but it my be what is printed on the back label: "78% Pinot Noir, 16% Chardonnay, 8% Meunier." Being a math geek, it is one of my pet peeves. Cringe. Worthy. But hey, the contents are fantastic, almost as if they put in a 102% effort with this wine. Straw colored with golden accents. Honeyed apple, dried apricot, vanilla wafer, yeasty on the nose while the palate is on the dry side of Brut, initially quite tart with some lemon zest, a biscuity goodness, and a lengthy finish. Very nice.
Like a gyroscope - give it a little push and it gains momentum and reacher a higher altitude and rides a longer wave than you thought on first impression. Keeps going - mostly Pinot with lemon and light notes of brioche.

Light straw color. Drank 2 glasses over 2 hours. This is growing on me again. I've had some mixed results with this wine, but lately I'm finding more of the charm and finess I saw awhile back and none of the oxidative qualities. Showing off a mix of tart apple, lemon, and nice chalk notes this is medium bodied and more mineral driven with nice edges and good energy.

A more improved bottle from my last note. More complexity here, with the speed and lift most notable for a base model Champagne, rolling out the red apple flesh, oyster shell, and bruised lemon flavors with marked focus. There is a nuttiness that adds interest but also softens the cut slightly. A super easy drink to throw down on a cool Spring afternoon. QPR is good. 92++ points.

I agree with most of the previous tasting notes, I find the cheesy element, but I ascribe it to the use of wood (and my note on the rose grand cru makes an even stronger argument that the use of wood by this producer is quite liberal). I find the pear, a lot of freshly sliced pear, and I find that the cheesy note is strong and a disturbance to the rest of the wine. Also the 6g/l sugar is evident, moderating quite a bit the acidity, I expected more tartness from a small grower. I find the wood element not integrated with the rest of the wine, and the sliced pear fruit and other oxydative notes not particularly interesting. One positive side about this sparkler is the bead and that is the case also for the rose grand cru: Maillart succeeds in having such small and slow perlage that the wine is extremely creamy. Not a detail for a sparkler. The wine has also some thickness to it, possibly supported by the wood and small carbonation. It drinks almost as a still structured wine. However, I find the aromatic balance quite off preventing this wine to excel. Maybe more time in the bottle would help? A very well made sparkler for wood lovers.

A leesy and cheesy nose that also displays a little apple and lemon. The palate is so vibrant and fresh, yeast, apples, brioche, lemon and then a little dairy and hazelnuts upon the finish. Nice texture and freshness, moderate richness with good cut. A very tasty and satisfying Champagne.

(Disgorged in September 2020, based on 2015, 2014. 2013, 63% Pinot Noir, 14% Meunier, 23% Chardonnay, dosage 5,5 gr/l) At first a bit tight on the nose, but in wider glasses letting it air out it opens up in a very pleasant way on the nose showing minerality, red apples and a touch of ginger. Very youthful showing citrus zest on the creamy palate and with a very colourful and intense red apples finish. This is still very youthful and should reward some extra cellar time for sure, but still drinking perfectly to cheer up a chilly Winter evening! (Best with 1-4 years extra cellaring)

A medium-full and fairly fruity front end gives way to a round and inviting mid-palate; tails-off in a somewhat nutty-meets-earthy profile that encompasses the core fruit flavors. Yellow plum, red apple, cherry water, strawberry seed, lemon pith, dehydrated yellow raisin, almond meal, and some blue mussel shell. More on the Pinot Noir and Meunier sides of the fence than the bright and brisk Chardonnay side. Less of the fresh yellow zing; a tad more rustic. Medium frame and bead. 91 points overall. Decent QPR.

This needs time in the glass. At first I thought it was defective it was so closed, but after 20 minutes, it was blossoming. Honeysuckle and thyme buds, with an edge of minerality (flint). Even later - approaching an hour in the glass - it had even more structure and power, yet perfect balance. It has an almost smoky edge to it. A seriously good wine at an excellent price.

Aromas of toast, shortbread, hint of lime and mineral. Flavors of mineral, slate, star fruit and hint of lime. Ends with a mineral driven finish of 15+ seconds. Still one of the best values out there for Champagne. Was considering getting a half bottle of champagne for our anniversary and the only thing this store had was a $30 bottle of Moët Imperial. A full bottle of this is less and it’s a better wine so I went with this.

Bought 3b for 28/b about 6 months ago, delivered ; this is #1. Offered with a string of solid ratings: WE92, WS92, VM91. No indication of Brut or Extra Brut on labels; this bottling seems absent from Searcher. Surprisingly gold color (aged Sauternes-like!). The back label provides a disgorging date--July '19--so the color puzzles me. Good effervescence, some white stone fruit, tasty, but the color dominated the conversation among the four of us, all of whom have serious wine interest. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable when considering quality, age, and price.

Disg 10/2019, 6 g/l dosage, 78% pn, 16% chard and 6% pinot meunier. Reasonable aperitif champy. On the nose: sweet melon and peach with some tarragon-like notes, don't really get a lot of pinot noir character but the meunier seems to shine through. On the palate, good acidity, somewhat coarse bubbles roughens how this appears, but lemon oil, melon rind with a tangy, slightly spicy finish.

Nose of canned peaches or fruit "nectar" juice. Lot's of stone fruit expression. Would have guessed Pinot Meunier blind for certain but that only constitutes a small fraction of this wine. It's predominantly Pinot Noir with some Chard thrown in as well. Sweetish. Relatively high dosage for the current climes. The dosage isn't really integrated with the fresh, bright fruit. But this is quite expressive. Especially for something disgorged two years ago. This is tasty if not elegant. At $35 it's quite a deal though. I imagine at a summer gathering it could be quite a hit in a mixed crowd.

OK, we have a problem, or at least I do. The label states 78% Pinot Noir, 16% Chardonnay, 8% Meunier. Huh? Really? Make an effort, borrow a calculator. Something. As for what is IN the bottle, bright, tart, loaded with citrus and yeast. The palate is equally invigorating with zingy lemon rind, a perky sparkle, and a bit of baked bread at the back-end. The tartness lingers for quite a while. As does the arithmetic mistake. thedrunkencyclist.com

Another bottle confirms good not excellent. Decent middle of the road style between crisp and toastier. For the $27 all-in that these are offered by WTSO it's surely a good value, and my favorite of their value champagne offerings from those I've had, though I feel that stretching just a few dollars more and looking around a bit one can find better wines at a similar price. Still, a decent wine and one that would do very well for parties.

Put this in the freezer while I went for a run to cool it quickly. Opened as I prepared dinner a bit later. At first this seemed way too sharp, but I also knew it was likely to cold, and it was. This bottle is different from the last one, but I still don't really care for it. I don't recall the things that I didn't like about the previous bottle, but this one has an astringency (think, inner husk of a hickory nut that holds the meat). Bone dry with little or no yeasty/toasty character. Some orchard fruit and chalkiness. Original score 86.
Update - I decided to let it warm up a little more, rather than drinking directly from the frig. It's much better, now, so I've upped my score. Note to self: drink about 50℉ or so.

Intensely cheesy lactic nose initially, which mellowed out after a few minutes to reveal quince jam and pear. Mouth is much more elegant than I was expecting based on the nose. Mouth is medium weight with a mix of berries and citrus. Finish is dry, with initially some nuttiness, which seems odd coming so late in the impression, and then ending as grapefruit. Seems a bit disjointed at this point, but I have to say I am impressed with all the complexity and expect this could turn out to be outstanding if it comes together with some age.

I appreciate when a wine includes the assemblage, vineyards, and disgorgement date, along with other relevant data on their label. It increases the pleasure of understanding the product one is consuming.
As for the wine, it’s fairly golden with some baked apples, red and green. Otherwise right down the middle with large bubbles and not a lot of complexity- neither the minerals or yeast that I’m looking for, nor quite the finesse. I visited this producer once in Champagne and felt much the same. The alcohol shows a little more than it should as well.

Nice color. The nose shows rich aromas of toast, orchard fruits, minerals, apple blossom and a hint of brioche. This is medium bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and very good finesse. The fairly long finish features a strong mineral element. Disgorged 01/2018.

2014 assemblage/Apr2018 disgorgement. 6g/L dosage. Although I don’t have much experience with aging Champagne, this strikes me as one that could be very special down the road in a few, or several, years. Medium straw color with a fine and broad mousse. Lovely precision and balance in the bouquet with apple and yellow citrus, not a lot of autolysis, but that seems to give it a nice energy and sinew to the acidity and light mineral aspects on the palate. So clean. I think FMIII would be all over this ;) 5+11+17+9= 92

Another big birthday - the 5-0 (Rezza Trattoria e Pizza Romana): Unfair competition next to the Billecart Salmon which was also being served (also this was just out of magnum rather than the 3L). It's a totally fine set of bubbles. Just a bit less lively and the flavors came across as more muted.

66% Pinot Noir, 11% Pinot Meunier, 23% Chardonnay. The Platine Brut is exclusively comprised of Grand Cru and Premier Cru grapes primarily grown in Ecueil, as well as Villers Allerand and Bouzy. 40% Reserve wine. Slow, gentle pressing using gravity-flow techniques. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and a period in barrel for a certain amount of the reserve wines. Aged for an average of two years in bottle. Disgorged 03/18 Light golden color in the glass. Aromas of crisp green apple, Asian pear, lemon pith, limestone earth, saline, biscuit, honey, almonds and hints of gun smoke. Fine mousse on the palate that has an austerity. Tightly wound acidity and generous minerality. Flavors of apple, pear, under-ripe melon and lemon pith come laced with the notes of biscuit, almond, honey and hints of white flowers and smoke. The finish lingers even if a little tight. This wine will reward some patient cellaring

Disgorged 2009. Medium bronze. Beautiful fine bead. Rich, Pinot-heavy. Nutty, apple skin, saline, bit of burnt toast. Long finish of lightly bitter citrus and nuttiness. High acid. A rich wine, with forward fruit and nut presence, and a nice salinity.

Aromas of custard, citrus, mineral and sourdough bread. Flavors of bread dough, lime, mineral and slate. Ends with a mineral driven finish of 20+ seconds with a lime note at the end. For $26.99 this is a very good bottle of Champagne. Balance of this is very nice.

The first bottle of this was just "OK" so we sold a bunch of it to friends (does that make me a jack-donkey?). This bottle, though? Pretty close to gangbusters: lemon curd, vanilla wafer, and a yeasty minerality characterize the nose. The palate is much of the same, with a tart lemon kefir with plenty of sparkle and verve. Yum. thedrunkencyclist.com

Disgorged January 2010 and bought by us in 2010 at a fine price of $26. Pretty medium gold color. Tiny very persistent bubbles in a flute. Inviting aromas of yeast, bread, citrus, and pear. Good bubble release in the mouth with bright scrubbing acidity and lemon. A wine we would happily select if we were limited to just one bottle with a meal. By recorking right after each pour and putting what was left back in the refrigerator, we fully enjoyed this wine for 4 days, with no deterioration. Would gladly buy more.

3rd bottle, we really like this wine, big flavor, good bubbles, golden color, balanced, with structure and complexity, good value, classic blend of grapes for Champagne, will drink again if I can find it. Drank with baked lobster.

From 375. Somewhat reticent with the bubbles but rich, dialed up, and not shy in any other way. Toasty, umami, super minerally (almost reminds me of the tang from Emergen-C) and saline. Good concentration of fruit - ripe pear, lemon, lemon peel, lemon curd. Finish clean but not memorable.

2017 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/9/2017-11/14/2017 (Villa D’este, Lake Como and Milan): Cuvee from 2003 to 2006 vintages. En magnum, rich and generous succulent yellow fruit, lemon curd, baked apple, a hint of raspberry added, honey, brioche and a hint of limestone. Very good concentration, generous deeply toned yellow fruit, generous medium mousse, bright acidity and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit and brioche driven finish. Pinot Noir 66%, Chardonnay 23%, Pinot Meunier 11%. 30-40% of the reserve wine was stored in old oak barrels.
Yummy, but fresh. Some yeasty and pastry aroma, but especially stone fruit and yellow apple, followed by honeysuckle, herb and flint. Fine bubble and very crispy in the mouth, with wet pebbles-like minerality. Good intensity and persistent lemony flavour in the mouth.

A slightly older bottle, disgorged May 2009, purchased early 2010. Probably slightly past its peak. Older floral notes to start with candied lemon rind, ripe apple and toasted walnuts. Still good acidity, good length. Best when first popped and poured, less exciting when finished two hours later.

A medium-bodied and fairly toasty PN-dominated Champagne. Not heavy though, with good zestiness and acidity to make it refreshing. The effervescence seemed a lot softer than average, which made it quite easy-going and approachable. Not an overperformer but quite nice for the price.

This is rather "tan" on the palate, with notes of wheat, and is especially rounded on the sides, much more so than the last bottle. Has a roundness to the sides and a fullness in the mouth that is a nice result from a few years of aging in the cellar. Oatmeal notes on the palate.

The flavors I am getting are remarkably similar to those in the bottle I opened one year ago: there is a "tan" element, evoking notes of wheat or grain, and then, with some air, a "pink/red" element, suggesting berries. A very pleasing note of yeast or sourdough on the nose. Pleasing.

very pale lemon, lively bubbles forming a nice mousse at the rim. Almonds, Citrus and wet dough out of the glass, delivering the same in the mouth with some zesty herbal notes, nicely balanced acid, alcohol and fruit. I enjoy this wine ... it gets better in the glass and may actually benefit from an hour opened in the cooler. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. NV wine may actually benefit from a year or two in the cellar

This bottle showed some more oxidative qualities than an earlier bottle a few months ago. I also find some pink and tan hues to this champagne, the tan corresponding to some hay and baked wheat notes, I think from a bit of bottle age, and the pink suggesting to me that this is not a Blanc de Blancs. This champagne did not change much over the course of dinner. Comes across as somewhat coarse, which coupled with the oxidative notes came across as lacking in finesse. Dinner at Tutti's with Anne-Caroline, Ken and Barbara.

Nose: Very fresh and balanced with lots of minerals, red apples, orchard fruits, with a touch of warm bread too. There is nice depth to this with a more linear style.
Taste: Medium bodied with crisp medium+ acidity. There is some lack of depth and definition on the mid-palate with minerals, red apples, and a bit of warm dough.
Overall: While this isn't the most complex bubbly, it is very enjoyable and hits its notes just right.

Followed this over three nights, and it displayed some very interesting nuances. Initially, I was intrigued by the hay notes upfront, leading to some citrus and even some tangerine notes, and then a core of red fruit. Later, apples, notes of bread but not really yeast, and cherry notes. Interesting and enjoyable.

Great nose of apple cider, cinnamon, honeyed pear, pie crust, and white florals. The palate follows in fashion, opening with gorgeously authentic orchard fruit. An energetic spine of wet minerals arises on the mid-palate, and drives a long finish of brioche, lemon/lime acidity, fresh cut grass, and saline. The fine mousse adds to the balance. R&M 90

Kinda sweet on the palate. Ripe fruits, red apple, brioche and light toasted nose. Rather long finish with red apple dominant aftertaste. A little too "easy" and lacking a little tautness / tension that I sought in Champagnes. Would probably improve a little with some cellaring. Doubt it will be mind-blowing though. At least not for me.

Toasty, yeasty nose but came across almost as oxidized on the palate. Hints of lemon, baked pear, brioche, carmelized fruit (but not in a good way). With Pinot based sparklers I love eat the dirt (think Cali Blanc de Noirs) but this is just giving none of it. Somewhat flabby, disjointed and I dare say additional aging is likely to exacerbate the unpleasant oxidized notes in the wine. Eh.

well made, yet lacking in brisk acidity, cut, nerve...just isn't as edgy as I like my Champagne. Also, the RS on the wine seemed at the high end of Brut...if not over...So, lacking in backbone on the palate, yet nicely aromatic on the nose with a finish that is at least medium in length...not a poorly made wine, just not what I look for.

May Fete Deck Party 2010: I don't drink much sparkling wine but this was impressive. It features a balanced presentation of citrus, straw, and sweet batard bread, and, as the Burghound note indicates, an excellent level of crispness that gives everything a lot of definition while letting the flavors shine through clearly now. Reasonably light on its feet, too. 91+

Colore giallo paglierino dorato.

Very nice.

At first a bit tight on the nose, but in wider glasses letting it air out it opens up in a very pleasant way on the nose showing minerality, red apples and a touch of ginger. Very youthful showing citrus zest on the creamy palate and with a very colourful and intense red apples finish. Even later - approaching an hour in the glass - it had even more structure and power, yet perfect balance. It has an almost smoky edge to it. A seriously good wine at an excellent price.

So clean. I think FMIII would be all over this ;)

I enjoy this wine ... it gets better in the glass and may actually benefit from an hour opened in the cooler. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. NV wine may actually benefit from a year or two in the cellar

Solid bottle of bubbles, nice cut and crisp fruit.
Not as complex as I remembered, but solid none the last.

Broken Bones Book Signing & Wine Tasting (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): As always, a solid Champers. I got lemon cake, sea breeze, toast and yellow apples on the nose. Crisp and creamy on the palate, with crushed rocks and seashells to accent the toasty almond and yellow apple fruit. Definitely a fan-friendly Champagne, but also showing some serious complexity.

Pale color. Beading and mousse more reminiscent of Prosecco. Yeast, vinous, white basalmic. Nice finish.

Continues to impress, balancing spiced orchard fruit with vivid citrus acidity and saline minerality. A bit of honeysuckle and dried herbs add depth to the finish. Drink or hold.

Decidedly lively nose of white flowers, yeast, roasted pear, and sea spray. Rather precise on the palate, with a fine mousse and filled with juicy lemon lime minerality. Yeasty orchard fruit with a savory edge and driving acidity add excitement to the finish. Very good, and a wonderful value. Drink or hold.

This really punched above its weight last night. Didn't take notes, but this had a lovely, very fine mousse, a great nose and was quite rich on the very complex palate. Wish I had bought several more (A-)!

Young and lively, with a sense apples and toast on a medium body. Initially a bit acidic. Serving this in a small riesling glass gives it a little more air than a traditional flute, and helps things out.

Oxidative with plenty of acid bite. Some lemon curd notes but almost painfully dry. Did this receive any dosage? Not bad, just less than I expected for $40. I don't understand this style of oxidative sparkle.r Could be better, not my favorite.

Drank from a 375ml. Nose has subtle yeast with bright citrus tones. Palate was fresh and lively with complex citrus and slight brioche flavors that give the body some enjoyable weight. Thought this drank far better than the bottle i had 8 months ago.

May 2009 disgorgement. Light golden color. Medium-small bubbles, good mousse. Yeasty and toasty nose. Medium-bodied palate with a predominantly green apple profile supported by some citrus and toast flavors. Medium-long finish. Developed nicely over several hours. Another fantastic under-the-radar Champagne bargain from Rimmerman.

Bright green apple and white fruits with chalky and slightly yeasty accents, and a sense of real freshness and precision to the flavours. With some air a cracker-like savouriness emerges on the back end, and this disappears very quickly. Lovely stuff.

91-92 pts. Nicely balanced, mid-weight champagne with good but not overpowering acidity and just the right touch of sweetness. Lost its bubbles quite rapidly, but perhaps that because it was opened with an explosive "pop"! Outstanding for the price ($40).

Reasonably light on its feet, too. 91+
