This bottle was in great shape. It has that light color and body that the nearly perfect Romanee Conti of the same year had. This wine is a little bigger, and maybe a little darker, with big, clear, light red fruit, clove spice, and other spices and plenty of spine. This wine had a more wild side, maybe brambly, and a hint of sauvage! Awesome to drink this with my kids and enjoy the bottle over a few hours. Bottle # 000908

A really good bottle. Extracted the cork out in one piece. It had plenty of Hoisin and soy along with smoked meats on the nose. The palate had sweet vinous notes and lots of savoury nuance. It was silky with all structural elements tucked neatly away. It wasn’t particularly deep or long, but immensely satisfying.

Kelly, Kevin, RJ and Tom's excellent NYC adventure; 12/1/2017-12/3/2017 (New York City): Very little expectation as the 70 DRCs that I had thus far were not exceptional. John the sommelier smiles and mentions that this is one of the freshest mature DRCs the clients brought in. Perfectly mature Burgundy nose displaying decadent sweet red fruit, cranberry sauce, cherry, warm strawberry jam, smoke, a hint of soy, caramel, sous bois, iron and mineral. Fully mature palate, decadent mature sweet red fruit driven palate impression, very fluid, good acidity and a medium to long mature sweet red fruit and soy driven finish. Although the nose is a great example of the mature Burgundy, it slightly lacks the DRC signature Asian spices and oolong tea. The palate is slightly coarse. Nevertheless, a great example of perfectly mature GC Burgundy. I believe the groups second or third WOTN.

Wonderful dried rose and forest floor aromatics. Palate seriously faded without much sweetness left. (4275/18801)

Rusted pale ruby with rim variation.
Earthy, spicy, hint of redberries.
Soy source, vinegar, weakened tannin & structure.
