  • Popped and poured at home on Mrs L's birthday. This La Mouline is attractive in a simple and effortless way -- like the pretty girl next door who skips around in a plain T-shirt and no makeup, yet exudes the most irresistible charm. Red cherry and spicebox notes decorate the nose, and the medium-bodied palate is a deftly elegant mix of sweet fruit and gentle, melted tannins. The finish doesn't stretch to Timbuktu, but it goes a respectable distance. And the lightness of touch has an upside -- we finished the bottle in under 45 minutes, and feeling completely unaffected I poured myself a generous whiskey after

Quel vin! 93 pts

  • 13%. Dark purple. Earthy and smoky nose, with a dash of white pepper. Red fruits. Slight oak. Nicely balanced, with a kiss of tart and greeness that I liked. Elegant.

  • Dark purple with a brownish tinge. Limited fruit on palate. Moderate tannin and good acid. Excellent balance and felt like it could go for many more years. Some graphite/pencil lead made me think left bank. medium finish. Great wine. Not a strong year but I found it very enjoyable to drink.

92 pts
