This is tremendous…is it at its prime? Always difficult to know. Could this get better? I’m hoping it will. One more 375 ml is in my cellar and my plan is to hold off for another year. It’s interesting how some wines on CellarTracker increase as a wine ages. The scores on this Suduiraut have increased with age and seem to be hovering in the mid 90s. My hopes are that in a year it will at least be the same or slightly better. Cheers!

Epic! A truly wonderful way to celebrate the holidays. Sweet, seductive nose of candied caramel wrapped around hints of stone fruits and pretty florals. Mouthfeel is lush, creamy, and viscous, which coats the mouth with a palate of sweet caramel and marzipan along with florals weaved throughout. Beautiful, big and lenghty finish! Cork was fragile, and required a Durand to extract it cleanly.

Excellent Sauternes that is in its prime (at least out of a 375ml). Tons of marmalade, saffron, honeysuckle, and spices on the nose and palate. Rich, unctuous texture with enough acid to balance out the RS. Finish goes on forever. Had a bottle about 3 years ago and this one is showing much better. Wish I had more.

Classic representation of aged Sauternes. Notes of honey, orange marmalade & rind and salted caramel. Great acid backbone to balance the palate weight and long finish. Drinking great now and will for a long time to come.

Brilliant amber in color. Intense & pronounced aromas of apricot, candied orange, baked pineapple, crystalized ginger, that nutmeggy/botryised aroma. In the mouth, the wine is sweet, full bodied, tempered by a laser-like steely acid streak running through to the finish of the wine, makes it quite drinkable. Flavors match the intensity of the nose and flow seamlessly. From 375ml, drink or hold. Well made and enjoyed.

Amber colour. Aroma of iodine, apple tart and rose. Good flavour of orange marmalade, rum, oaky bitterness, apricot. Touch of treacle. Really delicious.

Healthy brillant color. Notes of apricot, bitter orange peels, little hint of saffron, still quite primary and “fake simple”. Mouthfeel is very long but maybe too sweet and not so balanced. I guess it can improve a lot more. Good things come to those who wait. I love the display and the relaxed status.

From a 375 mL bottle. This has matured nicely and is an outstanding wine. White flowers, orange, caramelized pineapple. Each taste bringing a new sensation. Luscious mouthfeel with a long, lingering finish.

Med+/pronounced intensity of golden ripe peaches, honey, apricots, and baking spices. Not overly complex yet as it could use more time for more tertiary notes. No heat from the alcohol, which I think is an achievement for Sauternes. Surprisingly, not as sweet as the dessert, drank better by itself. I crave additional tertiary development, will hold future bottles.

Elegantissimo e agrumatissimo. Molto piu' acido che dolce. Non ho esperienza con altri sauternes ma mi piace molto. Pagato 42 euro/75cl, in offerta: corretto.
Dopo qualche giorno esprime tanto zafferano e frutta secca.

A half bottle. A lovely wine. Dominant orange peel and marmalade with great balance and perfect acidity. It went very quickly. No rush to open with plenty of years left which may add complexity.

Great balance of honey and tropical fruit. Typical Suduiraut. It perhaps lacks the definitional qualities of the Barsacs, but it has a warmth of temperament that they lack.

Color: deep gold with viscous legs Nose: full intensity. Complex botrytis aroma -- fresh and dried tropical fruits; coconut; and honey Body/flavor: full body. Evolving flavors.. a veritable symphony of tastes. Excellent acid balance Aftertaste: lingering.
While half-bottle shows great depth, cellar conditions suggest it still has a long life ahead!

Un sauternes riche, beaucoup de fruits tropicaux, juste assez d’acidité pour soutenir l’ensemble. Doté d’une belle complexité, La finale est longue et plutot digeste.

Arresting, botrytis-heavy nose. The palate is just pure harmony, featuring orange marmalade, dried Turkish fig, and an array of honey notes. Really appreciated the slightly dry finish, which guards against this getting anywhere close to cloying.
Served with an especially tangy and pungent hunk of Vieux Berger Roquefort, which did not form much palate synergy due to its uncompromising personality, but totally cleared the palate and made me crave more Sauternes!

Very, very good. Amber-yellow. Classic botrytis profile-apricots, smoke, flowers, and honey. Lengthy finish with adequate acidity to complement blue cheese and maple pie with blueberry compote. Disappeared way too fast...

Turning dark gold now. Honey, caramel, and citrus peel. Paired poorly with apple-caramel sauce over ice cream, because the citrus peel offered a bitter finish.

The nose shows off its honeysuckle, candied apricot, orange rind, pineapple, and melted caramel scents with ease. Rich, opulent, sweet, and fleshy, but the right amount of vibrance and freshness allows you to savor all the honey-coated, tropical fruits, apricots, and brown sugar on the palate. This is a truly sweet treat that is already delivering the goods. Drink from 2022-2037.

Out of 375 . Nose was magical with pears, apricots and caramelized sugar . On the palate its young and modern with nicely integrated alcohol and fresh fruit with addition of impeccable noble rot notes. Most likely will improve with time. Love it.

Picking up a bit more complexity and holding on to a good balance of sweetness and tension. I found more enjoyment this time around after a splash decant off of abundant tartrate. Last tasted in 8/21.
Nice pairing with baked brie and lemon honey wensleydale dessert pizza.

chilled it a bit to watch the evolution of the wine. initial great nose even though it was too cold for me.. probably mid 40's F. peach pear stone fruit and baking spices. oh the sweet warmth of the nutmeg, cumin and the like. as it warmed up it got stronger and more viscous on the palate but the acidity held up great and created great tension in the glass.. it just kept changing ever so slightly as the night went on. early the finish was bitter but as it warmed the bitterness went into a smooth stone/mineral finish and just held it. paired with a warm Peach tart, and after the sauternes reached probably 55-60 degrees it just began to sing. will need to find some more.

"Imposter Night" (Los Olivos, CA): Spot-on as the genuine Sauternes in a blind pairing format, with loads of apricot, tropical fruit and honeyed ginger notes, lush and viscous but held in check by its appropriate level of acidity.

Pleasant but not my favorite Sauternes experience. Had with Eleni’s pear-raspberry crumble. Maybe lacking acidity a bit? Maybe too much botryitis character?

Enjoyed over three days with a variety of sweet deserts: cheesecake, vanilla ice cream, white cake. Deep gold color; lots of complexity; a melange of drying sweet fruits; and high acidity, which balances all the sweetness. Early stages of maturity. Reminiscent of the 1995 Suduiraut, which I enjoyed back in 2018 at 22+ years. Just a wonderful wine. Has many years of life ahead. 94+ points.

From a .375. Identical service and preparation as my note dated 4/15/2021. This bottle rebounded from the lesser tasting of 5/26/2021 and was in line with my 4/15/2021 note.

Color is darker than average for age. Should have decanted off of abundant tartrate crystals. Nice nose of honey, tropical fruit and a touch of caramel. Best on the palate with apricot, honey, almonds and plenty of botrytis. Finish is lingering and balanced between sweetness and lift. Very enjoyable.

Consumed along with an incredible lineup of wines at a Bastille Day dinner. Outstanding example, from a half-bottle. Color starting to turn golden. Rich, tropical, deep, long, what more could you ask for? Aromas of coconut, nectarine, honey & honeysuckle. Flavors of the same, with a hint of apricot & raisins. Still lots of acid for this wine to improve for quite a few years to come (with proper storage). One of the best wines of a night filled with stars!

Color, clear amber yellow; 1st nose, honeysuckles; 2nd nose, saffron and raisins. On the palate, pleasantly sweet with notes of saffron and honey with a long finish. Reminded me of the 1986 d’Yquem!

Double decanted and replaced cork six hours ahead. Massively dark colour, if blind would assume minimum one decade older. Smoky burnt caramel initially on the nose, then some vanilla sponge cake and white chocolate. All there on the palette along with burnt or charred apple or pear. Unctuous texture. More bitter charred toffee on the finish. Finish a little shorter than expected but still an excellent Sauternes for me

375ml. A highly evolved deep amber that’s almost copper like in the glass and showing far more age than the wine actually is. Slightly oxidative with burnt caramel, bruised yellow apple, and vanilla sponge cake. Burnt caramel continues on the palate alongside caramelised pineapple and charred orange. The unavoidable burnt characteristic running throughout the wine is a touch overwhelming; rendering the wine little imbalanced and one dimensional. We could be facing some bottle variation here. Where the wine excels is the mouthfeel; rich, textured, and unctuous.

From a .375. Not as good as the bottle I had on 4/15/2021. Flavors, while excellent, did not seem quite as deep. We might not have waited long enough after taking it off of ice. Still a wonderful wine and generally consistent with my aforementioned note.

Was surprised at how young this wine seemed based on the color. I expected to be much more nutty and subdued. I think this one needs more time still. The alcohol is a bit high at 14.5 and it’s very apparent. A bit hot in my opinion. Will probably forget about my other bottle for another decade and then revisit.

From a .375. On ice for 2 hours then opened and allowed to warm for 20 minutes before pouring. Golden brown sugar color; no tartrate crystals present. Nose of warm butterscotch, almonds and apricot. Botrytis was dry. In the mouth: well-balanced, not cloying at all but the wine had some heft on the tongue. Apricot, kiwi and Seville orange, but while the sweetness was deep, it was not too much. Long finish suggesting an almond and peach crostata. Wonderful wine. Those at the table who had it with creme brulee found it a great match; those eating a dense chocolate torte, not so much.

Caramel in color and likely drinking in a superior window and should hold there for a while, this has notes of pure honey, brown sugar and poached apple; cinnamon and brown sugar on the finish with a levity that only a sauternes can bring. Lovely. 94-95

Popped open a 375 mL to share with friends one evening and was really shocked how tasty this was.
The nose had this aromatic bouquet of apricot, dried stone fruit, candied ginger, candied orange peel, a good amount of acidity, body and structure that interestingly drank fairly light, with a wonderfully elegant and long finish. It was a strikingly darker color for some strange reason (especially when put next to a 2005 bottle I purchased recently, which seemed odd to me). I'm sure this 2007 can age longer too, but it is already very good....and the pairing with a creamy cheese was superb too.

deep dark amber colour with medium viscosity. it takes a bit of time delightful nose to uncoil and give out candied apricots, orange marmalade, quince paste, beeswax, and honeysuckle. intense yet balanced in the mouth with a firm acidic edge. with botrytis very much in evidence, flavours of tangerine, honey, meyer lemon, beeswax, and white pepper develop and follow into a long and delicious finish.
very mature already (on 375) this has a lot of potential still.

On the palate, gooseberry, apricot, candied orange peel, grapefruit. Body thick like motor oil. Hedonistic and decadent, with only the orange peel bitterness keeping you grounded. Good acidity in the finish, which is absurdly long.
Tried it with foie with gooseberry jam reduction and it was literally too much. Vanilla flan was a better pairing, bringing out a lot more of the complexity in the wine and the sweetness of the flan.

Drank some of this on Christmas, and now finishing it up on 12/29, and the difference is astonishing. It was fine, you know, enjoyable, on day 1, but after 4 days in the fridge it entered a whole new realm. Honey, salty sea spray, creme brûlée, and slight minerality all show up initially, and an unexpected streak of black pepper shoots through if you really give it a chance. More surprises when taking a sip - some of the slippery petrol of an old German riesling, butterscotch, a bit of mint. Nice stuff.

Deep golden in the glass. A rather ripe nose reminiscent of dried apricot, jasmine, cloves and raisins. Lucious on the palate with honey-dripping sweetness and a solid string of acidity. A bit too sweet and ripe for my taste thought, I was expecting more life in this. Medium finish, medium complexity.

From 375mL. Golden; medium-plus aromatics with some baking spice, white fruits; palate is medium-full bodied, medium-plus acidity, balanced medium alcohol (14% on label, but tastes like a bit less); finish is medium length. A balanced, youthful Suduiraut, rich but also a streak of elegant acidity, which tastes like it still has to blossom. I think a day or two of air will help it reach its potential. 91, potential to improve with a decade or two in the cellar. 3 hours in glass: Definitely developing a bit more with distinct and pronounced candied orange peel on the nose, and also a bit on the palate. Day 2: A bit more integrated on the nose; palate has a bit more botrytis spice and a touch more complexity. A little bit better, but not a significantly different wine from yesterday. 91 Day 4: Never really fully integrated, with the sweetness just a bit out of place compared to the acidity. Still lovely, but I think this needs more age.

Appearance: deep gold Nose: medium plus intensity; aromas of creme brûlée, apricot, marmalade, orange peel, caramel, honey, toast, dried fruits, dried pineapple. It’s developing. Palate: sweet, high acidity, high alcohol, full body, medium plus flavour intensity; flavours align with nose. The finish is long. It’s a very good wine. Can drink now, has potential for further ageing. Well balanced between acidity and sweetness. Great fruit concentration and length. Perfect with blue cheese!

After going through my next to last bottle of the 2007 I have to stay consistent in my rating and my notes for this wine. It is just incredibly delicious and I enjoy drinking this to top off a great evening of wine and food or just by itself in front of the TV watching the game. Great tropical fruits [papaya, pineapple, mango], with a nice touch of creamy lemon curd and honey and I really like the spice notes that go along with this. Only one left...sad face!

Château d'Yquem disguised in a Suduiraut bottle? Clean amber color, concentrated notes of creme brulee, rich caramel and burnt toast, bathed with acidity that kept the wine fresh and lively. Suduiraut continues to contest as one of the best in the Sauternais region.

This wine is dropping like flies in my cellar. I can't seem to stop opening the bottles that I have. My notes on this bottle are consistent with others. Silky, creamy mouthwatering acidity. Golden honey in color. This is so nicely balanced and just a gorgeous, luscious wine. It holds nothing back at this point in time. Liquid caramel, honey, apricot. Mouth coating with a very long finish. Plenty of sweetness but it all works nicely here. Recommend with dessert as opposed to foie gras. Drink now and over the next decade.

Unfortunately, I couldn't wait very long to open another bottle of this wine. Fortunately, it is so good and I have a bit more. Deep honey color in the bottle, just a shade lighter in the glass. Loads of tropical fruits in the aroma, for me I pick up papaya, pineapple and some orange, with just a slight hint of floral. After only 5 minutes in the glass I picked up notes of lemon. On the palette the mouthfeel is great and very balanced with honey and cream in a lovely balance with the tropical fruits. I like that fact that it has a nice sweetness without feeling syrupy. There is so much going on with this wine and it is all wonderful for me.

A fine fruit-forward dessert wine, I almost think while drinking it in 2018 that it's a tad too early for it. The sweetness is buoyed by notes of pear and apple, and the relatively low viscosity gives it a nice mouthfeel.

from 375. Jill opened this somehow thinking it was an old rose. No clue how one could make that mistake.
Anyhow, a little darker in the glass than the bottle from last year. Lovely notes of apricot, peach and honey in the nose. Fruit and honey on the palate with a nice viscous mouthfeel and a good balance between the sweetness and acidity, though agree with others that a bit more acidity would be nice.
Have now clearly labeled my remaining two so Jill doesn't make the same mistake again.
Very young, but also a classy wine, vraiment Sauternes, layer upon layer here, orangepeel, butterscotch, citrus - a meal in itself. 93+ #SøllerødKro#Sigurd

Another grocery store find in Cannon Beach. Decided to pick up this little treat to share with friends. From 375 - this was quite nice and enjoyed by all. Still on the young side, without the additional complex notes that will no doubt continue to develop with more cellar time. Nose of pure honeysuckle. On the palate - apricots, honeysuckle, lemon/lime and from our chef friend a hint of fennel and kaffir lime. Balance is pretty good between sweet and acid - although a touch more acidity would be great.

From 375. Medium gold in the glass with a clear meniscus. For 10 years old the wine still seems very fresh and new. Nose of honey, honey, honey, grilled stone fruits and varnish. Nicely weighted on the palate with the honey, grilled stone fruits and some spice coming through on a lingering finish.
Enjoyable now, but will stash away the remaining three just to see what happens.

Day 1: Delicious Sauternes! First glass at cellar temperature. Pours medium-to-dark gold. Honey, varnish, sawdust, cinnamon on the nose. Baked honey, dried mangoes, steeped cinnamon bark (as if in tea) on the palate backed by tangy acid. Good length. Complexity, length, and "delicious factor" were just shy of the '07 Coutet that we had a couple of weeks back. Still an "excellent" experience, 92/100.
Day 2: Stored under ArT18 overnight. Was better on Day 1. Seemed flabby and subdued tonight, as the acid was diminished quite a bit. Should have finished this yesterday!

The color is slowly starting to deepen. If you love the smell of apricots and pineapple drenched in honey, you came to the right place. The wine is sweet, fresh, lively and long, leaving with you the sensation of pineapple squeezed over rocks with honey coated, apricots tossed in for good measure.
Honey, lemon and apricot on the nose. Excellent density and viscosity allow the wine to carry its richness and sweetness without coming off in a cloying fashion. Orange, apricot, honey and peach through the middle; a wonderful mix of orchard and tropical notes (pineapple, passion fruit) that I felt was really just starting to show its complexity potential. Balanced with tart background notes of lemon, lime and tangerine and a richness that shows as marzipan/almond, this is a very complete sauternes. Excellent backbone of acidity and a good amount on the finish as well. This doesn't have quite the complexity, depth or acidity of the 2001, but is showing exceptionally well for a young Suduiraut. This wine has a great deal of future potential upside.

The nose of white pepper with ginger from boytritis strikes you immediately on the pop 'n' pour, covering but not eliminating the honey and tropical fruits. The texture is only slightly unctuous, hinting at waxy. The flavors of honey and tropical fruit with a hint of citrus (lemon and tangerine?) are in excellent balance with the acidity and that boytritis spice on the finish after sitting in the glass for 15 minutes. As the finish lingers seemingly forever (seriously, I still taste it after 4 or 5 minutes), a pinch of vanilla and crème brûlée come into play. It's all dancing around the palate in a disjointed but delicious way that leads me to believe this is gonna be a killer bottle in 5 to 10 years.
As always, I rate wine based on it's performance today. I won't touch another bottle for several years when I'd bet this warrants a distinctly higher score.
EDIT: on night 2, this is almost a completely different wine. The slightly waxy texture is still there, and the tropical fruit and honey haven't changed much, but the spice and acidity have settled down a notch. It's almost as if it gained sophistication by spending 24 hours in the fridge, and then allowed to warm slightly. Upgraded the score by a point.
EDIT: stayed the same as night 2 on night 3 and 4. Now it's gone. :-(
Even more so, I believe this will eventually be a fantastic bottle in a few years.

Drank over two days. Expressive bouquet, typical of its place. Strong botrytized notes, fresh and candied stone fruit (apricot), lemongrass, carambola, sous-bois, molasses, and umami. Medium acid, palate-coating texture, balanced, and long. Weighty, intriguing, and bordering on profound. Many moons from peaking, but so enjoyable now. Worth sampling now if you have several bottles. 93-94.

375ml. Not much to add to my note of Dec '15. Just perfectly balanced sweetness and acidity. In no way cloying. Lots of hazelnut and orange flavours. Good length. Lovely. Only 5 bottles left. I may have to source some more. Versatile. Drink as an aperitif, digestif or desert wine, or just on its own.

working with wine 2016 seminar 2 - sweet wines (Hilton Hotel, Sydney): a little more savoury initially then marzipan/crushed almond, muted apricot, cream and vanilla with agitation more marzipan, almond meal and apricot. On the palate it's almost cloyingly sweet, lacks a little acidity perhaps, with more marzipan, cream rather than rather obvious fruit characteristics. Again a touch of bitterness on the back palate

WineFest in Toronto (Mike Grammer); 7/10/2016-7/12/2016 (Mike Grammer's (parents home) in Toronto): Somewhat like the 2001 only a bit less flamboyant. The nose has honey, apricots and orange peel. On the palate, this is viscous though not cloying. Enough acidity to really cut thru. Some vanilla, this is more like pastry than candy (comparing it to the 2001). Love this style for a dessert wine. A little goes a long way.

Pnp from a split. Bright, clear yellow in appearance. Nose of apricots, peaches, with some white flowers and ginger. Honey citrus fruits with some ripe pineapples and a hint of sweet orange juice on the palate. Has some heft in the mouth and has a balanced feel to go with it. Full bodied with a medium+ finish. Last tasted in 2012.

This is to me a near perfect Sauternes. Lovely deep yellow/gold color. Aromas of honey, botrytis, orange, tropical fruit and more. Flavors of honey, botrytis, orange, mango, with a waxy, mouth costing underbelly. Lots of acidity to balance the sugar. Lovely!

La Fête du Bordeaux (Park Hyatt, Chicago): Medium-light gold color. Honeyed nose. Lightly tangy and decently acidic palate, with a slightly chemical aftertaste. This was hard to identify, but added an unpleasant edge to what was otherwise a middle-of-the-road Sauternes. Hopefully this will fade with time?
Tasted 7 times, initially from a cask sample that was like grape juice and impossible to assess. Drinking well since 2011 and preferred to 96 D'Yquem in 2012. Consistent notes of hazelnuts and orange. Great balance of sweetness and acidity and wonderfully long. Drink now or keep for ages.

From a 375. Nose of honey, flowers and pineapple. Great acid-sugar balance (near perfect). Nicely concentrated but fresh on the palate - not much oak or extract going on. Not quite as viscous as I remember it. A touch of raisin and botrytis character on the finish. This is one I will keep coming back to if the price stays reasonable. Though delicious now, I'm sure this will continue to evolve for some time.

Golden yellow color, moderate viscosity. The nose revealed caramel and orange marmalade. The palate was layered with honey, peach, mango, and nutty caramel. Sweetness balanced nicely with acidity, which was perhaps a bit too prominent on the finish. Still, this was a nice, enjoyable wine that should drink well for several years.

In direct comparison with 2011 richer, again honeyed fruit, flowers, caramel. Really spicy on the palate, with less acidity, but rich and powerful, sightly more evolved. A little bit heavy maybe. Great length. 92-94

1st btl out of 4 and quite stunning, deeply concentrated and fantastic. A very young, fabulously rich, perfectionist Sauternes to turn any dessert, cheeseplate or fois gras in to something unforgettable... Will lavishly reward all keepers.
Next btl after 2020.

Lively nose of pineapple and flowers. In the mouth, bags more pineapple and a dollop of marmalade. Just enough acidity to round out the sweetness. Noticeably viscous and tongue-coating, but silky - not cloying. A touch of botrytis funk on the finish. Still seems fresh and youthful. Wonder how it will develop...

An amazing bottle of wine. Deep, concentrated flavors, perfect acidity. Tropical fruits and citrus,, coconut, honey and must from the botrytis. The deep concentration of flavors and great balance set this apart from others. Thick, delicious.

Served with foie gras and gewürztraminer confit on toast. The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. Mango, pineapple, pistachio, honey, saffron and botrytised on the nose, subdued at the beginning but more and more inviting with some air and time. Massive, mouth filling intensive taste where you can find papaya and pineapple with a hint of saffron. Well integrated barrels. With my limited experience this was arguably the best Sauternes I have tasted, knowing well that the massive primary fruit will eventually settle down and more complex flavors will develop. I will open my next bottle 5 years from now.

This was opened and had great flavors, it was silky smooth and loaded with great tropical flavors, but it didn't show the acids I was hoping for. They were present but the sweetness did seem a bit cloying. I will hold the last bottle for a long while letting the sweetness integrate better so the acids can balance things out. Good long finish. Infanticide. If I did this again, I would actually decant this bottle.

Birthday and Mother's Day wines; 5/10/2014-5/11/2014 (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Medium gold color. PNP, from 375ml. Drank 1 glass over an hour. This quite delightful for an adolescent. The nose was evocative, tropical fruit, pineapple, coconut, honey, citrus and white flowers. The palate has full body and a creamy texture, tropical fruit, pineapple, citrus zest, good spiciness, and a long finish. This has ample acidity to buffer the sweet delicious fruit. A definite winner and one to watch in the future. 94(+)pts.

Lovely sauternes nose with dripping honey, dripping glue, floral notes, orange marmalade, saffron and understated, creamy oak. Really elegant and harmonious on the palate, with well defined aromas and perfectly balanced sweetness, not the least heavy, but long and expansive. Perhaps a bit middle-of-the road in style, but a safe bet in Sauternes and excellent stuff anyway you see it. We paired it with crème brulée (taste of vanilla, saffron and orange zest).

mind-bendingly good, with super balance including great lift and freshness as well as intense fruit and starting mature aromas that are especially noticeable on the very long finish. For me it would be a tragedy to miss out on this fantastic primary fruit which is still present, and now that there is some maturity to be experienced as well I would say it is at peak performance. But ymmv - in any case it's certainly no crime to open it now. I prefer this to the 2001 and my score is erring on the side of caution.
Partner Dinner (Our Home): From my Fleur Du Cap notes you will see that this was the runner up of the night. More acidic and lighter than the late harvest with little nose. Pear and apricot on the palate and with an acidity that can cut through a dessert that needs that. I should maybe leave these for 3 or 4 years before trying again

Scented, lifted nose of tropical fruit, such as pineapple, guava, mango, dried apricot, ripe peach, quince paste, rich oak, vanilla bean, caramel. Rich, but balanced by vivid acidity. Slightly oily texture. Very long finish. Did a vertical at the chateau. While everyone else seems to prefer the 2001, a great year for sure, the 2007 is my favourite vintage because of its balance and its complexity, at least the nose: more of the tropical fruit notes instead of more of the dried fruit, honey notes. Drink now but can hold for a decade or so.

Dinner at Mike and Cathy's place in 2013: On the nose turkish delight, preserved oranges and lemons. On the palate, viscous, with depth of flavour, nougat and citrus. However, not as precise or racy as the Chateau Climens 2007 we had a fortnight ago. A bigger, more rounded expression than that, but with sugar and acidity in balance. Drinking well now but will develop further. 91.

Very pure, fruity nose with some development. Minerally notes, oak, mango, a lot of apple aromas. Some botrytis and a hint of saffron. Not very powerful, though. Austere, sweet palate. Very elegant. Very good grip. Intense. Citrus marmalade. Very good, but lacks some personality at the moment. Revisit in 5 years.

Le Salon du Vin de la Revue du Vin de France 2013 (Brussels): Deep nose with lots of ripe fruit, some petrol, elderflowers, oranges and other botrytized impressions. Concentrated tropical fruit, dried fruit and honey on the palate, rich but balanced with fresh acids. Clear notes of saffron during the long lasting finish. Fantastic wine.

Honey, citrus and stone fruit notes, however a little grapey and still on the primary. You can see there is a lot of concentration here, and great balance of acidity. Drinking this now was infanticide. Still a great wine, I will definitely get another and then try and be patient.

Tropical fruit, candied orange, honey, vanilla and citrus peel slathered in honey grab your attention. The rich, sweet waves fresh, pineapples, honey, nuts and apricots keep you focused on what's on your palate and what's in your glass, as you know each taste hits the right, sweet spot. There is ample acidity keeping the wine fresh.

From half bottle- very light and refreshing- the honey was not the dominant driving force as I expected- the finish was medium with nominal lingering- went well with a prosciutto di parma omelet and berries with brunch.

From a .375. A pretty wine with lots of spicy botrytis character, pure clean tropical fruits, and good acidity. Rich and expressive though lacks some of the energy and sense of urgency found in better vintages ('01 and '09 for example). Actually comes across as a bit pedestrian considering its pedegree, though this is still very young. Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent wine in its own right, and certainly a good Suduiraut, but just not a classic one. Not the best QPR either as this doesn't really set itself apart from less expensive 2007 options like Myrat and Doisy-Vedrines. Guess I expected a bit more from this Chateau in '07.
From a half bottle. Bright golden colour. Creamy nose of blossomy citrus, bright apricots, and some honey. Honeyed apricots, peaches, and sweet ripe mangoes with the lively acidity to balance out the flavours on the palate; can also detect some of the botrytis taste. Medium finish.

PDX Offline (Le Pigeon - Portland, OR): Elegant wine with nice apricot, truffle and waxy floral notes. Love the clarity of 2007 Sauternes, and this was right there. Crystalline fruit were beautiful and pure. Drinking very well.

a solid suduiraut -- somewhat restrained compared to the big vintages. medium (+) acidity is enough to balance out the sugars. violet, apricot, honeysuckle. a delight to drink.

The grand wine of Suduiraut is quite reminiscent of the Castelnau second-label at this stage. Tropical fruits, wine gums, pie crust and wallpaper paste on the nose. Some depth and complexity. Palate is not quite in balance today. Tasty but not as showy as I suspect this will be in a few years time. This may have the potential to develop into something astonishing, today it's "merely" a very good wine.

Served chilled; initially lacked richness and character. Once the bottle "warmed" up to standard cellar temperature (55-degrees or so), the wine really shined -- rich, silky texture with sweet floral and citrus notes backed by spice. Held up well over 3-days.

Drank at Alligator Soul in Savannah GA, paired with creme brulee and berry compote. Plenty of botrytis honey on the nose and palate plus orange marmalade- reminds me of the Savannah Bee Company Orange Blossom honey with the floral and citrus character. Secondary notes of brown sugar and vanilla creme brulee with some minerals and I swear a spicy-anise note as well. What is really impressive is the structure; acidity for days and almost 2 minutes of finish. Still very primary but I love all the honey that is missing from years like 2002 and 2006 (no vegetal notes as with the 2006 green pea). The acidity actually makes the mouthfeel a tad "rough" for Sauternes but nowhere near a Savignon Blanc; still has plenty of viscosity to help balance things out. Can't wait to see how this holds up over the next few years.
Style & Quality: A. 2001 scores the A+, with 2002 and 2007 each getting A's. The 02 has more depth and development at this point but has possibly peaked. The 07 has the honey, the structure, and therefore the potential to earn the A+ with more time.
Value: A. $50 for a 375 isn't the definition of value, but for only $10 more you definitely get that upgrade to first class. Hey, you deserve it right?
Overall: A

Beautiful golden color. Nose: Honeysuckle, flowers and a hint of orange blossom. Palate: Full and viscous, with notes of honey and light peach. Finish: medium with more honey and butterscotch. I know this is young, but it seemed a bit pricey for what it delivered.

A solid, though nondescript, Sauternes. Oddly little on the nose for a top Sauternes chateau, though a decently constructed body. Rather uni-dimensional, sparse on aroma but decent, robust body. Little hint of botrytis or other factors that would contribute to a more complex nose. I wouldn't quite say 'drab', but 'undistiguished', yes. Innocuous enough, presents no harsh notes, lack of balance or other disconcerting unpleasantries, but just nothing really sings in this wine. Very Good to Excellent, yes, but Outstanding, no. A very nice Suduiraut, but hardly one of the best of recent vintages.

Masterclass - 2007 Bordeaux Horizontal (Conrad Hotel): Sweet almond and seductive peaches dominating the aromatic profile together with raisin, mineral, dried tea leaves, mango, floral and orange marmalade, very very complex! I can sniff this all day! Viscous, silky, dense, incredibly rich but with good acid lift that there is touch of lightness to this highly concentrated juice. Lots of Bortrytis spiciness with long finish that seems a bit dry and powdery that is quite distracting, some of my friends got this but some didn't. Stemware or bottle variation? Gotta try this again.

2007 Bordeaux Tasting (Conrad Centennial Singapore): As per the vintage, the Suduiraut was light-bodied with plenty of finesse without the sheer concentration of some other riper years though not lacking in intensity. Acidity stays firmly in the background. The style definitely veers towards precision and subtlety with clean botrytis notes. Good finish.

Fete de Bordeaux (Centro, Toronto): What set this apart from Sauternes 1/2 its price is the explosion of flavour in the mouth. Sweetness was totally compensated for by a firm peppery, botrytis profile. Mind boggling.

Almost no nose which is very suprising? What it lacks in the nose, it does make up for on the palate though this one does not linger and is not a cloying syrup at all. The main body is beautiful and balanced. Sometimes the acidity overpowers or is metallic but not this one. Honey, apricot and pear balanced and clean with a hint of orange peel. If the nose comes through later I can see this getting towards a 96.

Dinner with the WOFW folks (London): This is very reminiscent of 2001 Suduiraut tasted on release yet perhaps dialed a bit higher on botrytis and a touch lower on acid. Huge tangerine and stone fruit come out to play. Quite rich,

Shows lots of upward potential, strongly acidic and almost tannic at this point, very drying on the finish. The underlying fruit (and complexity) here is really nice though, this smells and tastes absolutely delicious. The finish is the tough part here, and something that will relax with time. I would hold this for at least a few years before thinking of opening another.

Rich, opulent, sweet, and fleshy, but the right amount of vibrance and freshness allows you to savor all the honey-coated, tropical fruits, apricots, and brown sugar on the palate. chilled it a bit to watch the evolution of the wine.
initial great nose even though it was too cold for me.. probably mid 40's F. peach pear stone fruit and baking spices. oh the sweet warmth of the nutmeg, cumin and the like.
as it warmed up it got stronger and more viscous on the palate but the acidity held up great and created great tension in the glass.. it just kept changing ever so slightly as the night went on.
early the finish was bitter but as it warmed the bitterness went into a smooth stone/mineral finish and just held it.
paired with a warm Peach tart, and after the sauternes reached probably 55-60 degrees it just began to sing.
will need to find some more.

Over a few meals
More restrained than exuberant, honey and apricot with moderate acidity. Shares others' experience of significant amount of tartrates
A more recent import, not clear whether it had been held in bottle or bulk at chateau, but cork in pristine condition.
Attractive but nowhere near great

I'm sure this 2007 can age longer too, but it is already very good....and the pairing with a creamy cheese was superb too.

from 375ml. bottle
deep dark amber colour with medium viscosity. it takes a bit of time delightful nose to uncoil and give out candied apricots, orange marmalade, quince paste, beeswax, and honeysuckle. intense yet balanced in the mouth with a firm acidic edge. with botrytis very much in evidence, flavours of tangerine, honey, meyer lemon, beeswax, and white pepper develop and follow into a long and delicious finish.
very mature already (on 375) this has a lot of potential still.

Intense sweet nose of gooseberries and apricots.

Nice stuff.

Day 4: Never really fully integrated, with the sweetness just a bit out of place compared to the acidity. Still lovely, but I think this needs more age.

Appearance: deep gold
Nose: medium plus intensity; aromas of creme brûlée, apricot, marmalade, orange peel, caramel, honey, toast, dried fruits, dried pineapple.

Suduiraut often my favourite ("beaten" by DD tonight) nice golden colour in the "middle" of the lot; very nice balanced nose with sweetness and "wet rock" acidity in a mix; lots of ripe abricot, deep dense aftertaste with right level of sweetness

They were present but the sweetness did seem a bit cloying. I will hold the last bottle for a long while letting the sweetness integrate better so the acids can balance things out. Good long finish.

Light gold color with flavors of apricot and spice. Nicely integrated and structured wine, but lacks the richness of the '03 that I like so well.

Overall: A

Beatiful acidity and light touch on the sugars. This will be good to serve to people who benightedly assert that they don't really like dessert wine.

Beautiful golden color. Nose: Honeysuckle, flowers and a hint of orange blossom. Palate: Full and viscous, with notes of honey and light peach. Finish: medium with more honey and butterscotch. I know this is young, but it seemed a bit pricey for what it delivered.

Dinner with friends. A medium yellow color. Aromas and flavors of apricot, poached pear, honey, minerals, some orange liqueur. Fairly complex. A little viscousness; average botrytis. Medium to long finish. The wine paired very nicely with pecan pie.

Pale gold coloured with an intense but fresh struck match and ripe apricot nose. Very sweet with massive depth on the palate. Full and layered with golden syrup, apricot, vanilla, ginger and orange peel. Luxurious and very long. Much better than the last bottle.

Bibendum 2010 Bordeaux EP Tasting - The Non 2010 Wines we Liked (Lords Pavillion, London): Our money is on this wine. For sure not at the level of the great 2001 but this wine demands and should get attention. Subtle, fresh alive and elegant. Great young and with tons of ageing potential. 95

Pale lemon yellow. Slightly odd nose with the aroma of struck matches. The palate is full, fat and very sweet with notes of toffee apple, barley sugar and apricot but still has a lovely balance and freshness. Maybe lacking a little complexity at the moment.

K&L Top Bordeaux Tasting (San Francisco, CA): Nice tropical fruit nose with good botrytis spice, but also tastes very clean and lean line a barsac. Excellent wine, but still has the saccharine flavors of youth. Suggest holding 5 years before opening another (I don't have any more). 90-91+

Suduiraut Vertical: Light, barsac styled wine with lots of balance but lacking the abundance of tropical fruits expected at such a young age. Of our 88-89-97-01-03-05-06-07 vertical, this was third after the 2001 and 2005.
