Drink up. I rated a bottle 98 in 2020. This one wasn't that, but it definitely had everything you'd hope for from a 24 year old PLL. An excellent, elegant, mature Bordeaux.

The texture of this wine is phenomenal with great silkiness but also good underlying structure. Everything about this wine is great except for that annoying green pepper note (elevated pyrazines) that seems to be in every bottle of this I've had recently. Will it fade away with time or become more prominent? Is it going through a stage or were some of the grapes just picked too early? Or am I just very sensitive to pyrazines? 93?

Nice nose with lots of dark fruit, black cherries, cassis, some bell pepper, forest floor, and autumn leafs. Good acidity with intense flavors on the palate that feels quite a bit more primary than the nose. Long and lingering finish. Very impressive Bordeaux that is starting to drink well but ideally should get another decade of cellar time. 95+

(Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande) From magnum - very dark, black tinged red violet color; appealing, herbs, thyme, tobacco nose; maturing, tart black fruit, herbs, salty dried plum, tobacco palate; medium-plus finish (50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot)
(Pichon-Lalande) The Green Monster is not at Fenway Park, it is in retail stores and Bordeaux collector's cellars all over the world in the form of this wine. Will it go away? Only time will tell. But under the green is dazzling complexity and one of the great PL's of all time. The nose had of course green cabernet, but also minerality, perfume, cigar box, lead pencil, cocoa, chamomile tea (greenness?). Tannic but a solid core of dark fruits underneath. Long, ripe and epic on the finish. I mean really long. Fantastic and can only get better. We hope. The 2000 Pichon-Lalande odyseey continues.
(Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande) Berry and coffee nose; tasty, tight, but well structured coffee, berry, plum palate; medium-plus finish

Mid garnet in the glass. Nose is somewhat muted with iron pan, and perfumed blackberry.
Palate displays great balance and complexity. A very nice wine and it may get a point of two better with more age......

Decanted about an hour. Great nose and palate at first, but after a couple hours node faded and palate declined with a touch of bitterness.
