From a near perfect looking magnum bought in Bordeaux. Soft, open nose of cigar box, subtle but sweet red fruit. Earthy with a touch of green. Great balance and soft effortless finish.

Talking Bordeaux (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Medium dark plus/maroon color with a 7mm transition to clear. PNP, drank a glass plus over 3 hours. What a harmonious old soul at 65+ years. This took 15 to 20 minutes to start to kick off the cobwebs and start to come around. Then, like a snowball rolling downhill, it took on weight and depth as it kept building. Such a pretty mix of fruits running the gamut from black to red to blue, very bright still, resolved and sleek with an emerging perfume. On the palate the red fruits stand out, lively red raspberries, long, vivid and sleek, sous bois, mushroom. It was a joy just to watch this build and then shine for the three hours we enjoyed it. Thanks Mike for sharing this gem. For me, 96-97pts and the highlight of the night.

This was the oldest bottle in my cellar and i decided to take it out for dinner with 2 good friends. Still a great wine drinking spectacularly well and almost 70 years old. Beautiful nose and plenty of fruit and no sign of decay... Wow

A 65th Birthday Celebration, Slightly COVID Delayed (EL Ideas - Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. From the rare 2.25 L (Marie Jeanne) bottle. In good condition with lots of cigarbox, earth and lingering fruit that refused to go away, all the way through to a long, earthy finish. Very enticing overall. Everybody liked this, but others were not as enthralled as I was.

Out of a Marie Jeanne and decanted long before dinner. Delicious and lasting both on the palate (sweet finish) and in the glass. Remarkable color with the age of an older Bordeaux. Special to share on my belated 65th with some many wonderful friends.
