From a small bottle. Decanted 2 hours. The first glass (after 2 hours in the decanter) was great, surprisingly accessible. After another hour, the fruit faded slightly into the background and it became more tannic. Another hour later it turned again. Certainly the best is yet to come, but even at this stage it is a really great wine. 95 pts. at the moment

Decanted for 3h from a half bottle, smooth and silky. Sandalwood and tobacco on the nose, the palate is red fruit, more smoky tobacco and oak, roasted coffee, spicy tannins, and a long clean finish. Deliciously complex and paired tonight with pan seared filet and baked potato with plenty of butter. Then chocolate cake for dessert (the bdx was an awesome pairing!). Very mild resolved tannins at this point, I'd say it is ready to enjoy.

It’s all there for sure. Needs a solid decant. Became more silky and alive 3 hour mark. Rich and delicious, complexity is around the corner. Next in 3 years.

Decanted 5h. Sweet spices pop up first with gingerbread and vanilla. This is followed by ink and beautifully ripe and sweet blueberry, dark cherry and black currant. Later adding black chocolate and leather. Creamy, with a soft texture, firm structure and impeccable balance. This is fantastic, even if still very early days. Best bottle to date, but still best to keep cellaring for another 5+ years. Pichon Lalande has consistently been an outstanding performer in all sorts of tastings, but this feels like it could be a match for the legendary 1982.
