14.1% ABV. Deep ruby appearance. Decanted in glass for 15 min. This is very giving right now and doesn’t really need a decant. Opened way too early for purely academic reasons.
On the nose there’s a bouquet of red cherry, blackberry, cassis, florals, sweet tobacco, graphite, clove, sandalwood, dark chocolate, a sprinkle of sous bois and underlying minerality. Obviously still very primary, fruit-forward and oak-kissed given its age. On the palate, this is dense and explodes of the same notes found on the nose with surgical precision and authority. The finish is seemingly never-ending. Acidity is so vibrant and gives this an ethereal quality. Tannins are very present but sexy and supple at this early stage.
A masterfully crafted wine from Pichon Lalande. 97+ today with upside to 99-100 down the road, but I may not have any bottles left in my cellar by that point…

Very nice wine. Not exactly pauillac on the nose or on the palate. Some dark fruits but mostly bdx typicity. No hint of alc on the nose or palate at 14%. There is a constant oak influence which is a distraction. What a shame because it could be much better.
Crisp purple/ black color Unripened raspberries, strawberry on the nose Soft feel with cotton candy and strawberries on the palate Strong acidity and heavy tannins.
Really good, we had the 89 alongside it, the 30yo version was great.
