Nice dark color again carries a scent of berries, earth, and, violets. Does not grab you but is a complete wine. This is the second bottle and perhaps a little more jagged finish than the first. Still plenty of time to go before a plateau.

This wine opened beautifully with a deep crimson colour and a rich nose of blackcurrant, garnet plums, Christmas cake, cedar and blackberry leaf. The palate is beautifully layered with black fruits, spices and cedar wood leading into a finely tuned finish of gossamer tannins. There is a lovely line of confit fruits that persists right through the finish leaving a sensuous touch to the wine that puts a smile on your face.

Last time I tried this vintage of PLC was in 2017. Back then, I gave it 93 pts but said not to drink another for 10+ years. So I decided to check back in on it to see how it is drinking today. After a 90 minute decant, it had a very Pauillac nose but one that is still restrained. Tonight’s tasting had more charcoal, graphite, iron and tobacco than I remembered. These flavors were more dominant than the fruit. The fruit was present but it was more of a dark brooding black fruit and I wished it had a touch of the sweet cassis note that I often get from PLC. This is a rustic vintage of PLC and akin to maybe what the 1986 vintage tasted like at a similar age back in 2004. I will keep my hands off of the 2006 for at least another 5 years.

This wine has improved and matured since my last tasting note in 2021. Medium dark red color. Chocolate and a little oak in the fragrant bouquet. Medium-bodied, soft and forward tasting. Elegantly styled, yet plenty of flavor. Delicious drinking now.

Drinking well now with nose of vanilla, flora, violet, black fruits, black currant, toast, spices. Medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin. Tannin is velvety. Will improve with time. Tasted at Acker inaugural Auction in Singapore.
